why my text is vertically oriented when I'm doing a preview of my layout? Plus, I'd like to know why when I set greyscales on my CTB only hatches and not my lines are displaying in black & white? (on my second layout)

When writing dtext or dimensions on my drawings in modelspace the text appears rough/rugged in both model space and layout space. I am using True Type (Arial) as the font. I've read older posts where people have suggested checking in Properties that the text is really laying down at 0 in the Z plane which it is. Some say using True Type is the problem, but just last week I was doing what seemed to be the same operation and I had no problems at all.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am creating construction plans sets that require 3 road profiles for the left edge, center and right edge. I would like to dynamically link the center line profile with the edge profiles.
I have created alignment offsets to obtain the existing surface at the offset location. I would like the edge profiles to have a vertical offset from the center profile. Also if I modify the center profile I want it to dynamically adjust the edge profiles.
Am new to PSE and having trouble creating collage pages (11 X 8.5). Can get the random look ones OK but cannot get the geometric (vertical/horizontal) as an option in layout. Am doing an album of Africa trip as a Christmas gift so time is getting short
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy office has two desktop printers, both HP. Our Officejet 7000 wide format prints great. On the HP Officejet 7500, we are often seeing text printing errors. It will not print the text from vertical dimension strings, and cuts off some M-text at an imaginary vertical line in the middle of the text box. PDF's of the same drawing look fine. Is this a printer driver issue? Is there anything I can do within AutoCAD?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have detail drawings that contain horizontal and vertical dimensions. They're drawn at full scale in model space and saved as individual drawings. We then insert them as blocks onto a sheet in paper space, scaling them down to 1/2", 1/4" scale ETC.
Here's the problem - all the vertical dimension text appears bolder than everything else when scaled down. Horizontal text is just fine, diagonal text also looks a little bolder though.
I'm new to AutoCAD and can't seem to find a solution. Essentially I'm trying to create an arc between two points on the X-Y plane and a point above (not directly above) in the Z direction.
Is there any way I can get an arc to snap between these three points? I guess I could calculate the angle of the plane this arc would lie on and then rotate the UCS to this angle, but this seems like a very long and inaccurate way of doing it. I've tried drawing an arc on the X-Y plane and then stretching the centre of it to the desired point above using the grips, but AutoCAD doesn't seem to want to allow this.
Is it possible to create a viewport with a different horizontal and vertical scale? I want to create a horizontal scale of 1"=40'-0" and a vertical scale of 1/4"=1'-0". Is this possible?

We are making application software for importing DXF file from AutoCAD. If AutoCAD does not support multiple lines of vertical setting on mtex, our software also should not support it, I think. I want to know the specification for multiple lines of vertical setting of AutoCAD.
On my LED monitor (Samsung XL2370), horizontal and veritcal lines display as different hues. Is there an Autocad setting to work with this or is it maybe some setting on my monitor?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I go into Multiline Text edit, the edit box is vertical instead of horizontal. So, i must edit in a vertical fashion. Upon completion, the text remains vertical and I must take the time to rotate it to horizontal. I do have WYSIWYG checked, but it still goes vertical if it's not checked. Also, it starts out (before editing) horizontal. The font is Ariel. AutoCAD 2010.

2.) Is there a way to layout vertical and horizontal guides on an art board and copy them over to a new blank art board?
Question: I know if I use some of the basic fonts that I am able to click on the properties of that text style to use vertical typing instead of horizontal but for the other fonts this is not an option. How can I get my words to go type vertical using those fonts, specifically Times New Roman. Think of a marker stick for a pipeline valve or pipeline location.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.
The Inset Spacing settings within the Area Type Options drop-down are just too cumbersome. Is there an easier way to center text within a text box like we can do in InDesign? Why they left this out of Illustrator CS6.

When making a profile the actual scale of the profile does not match the vertical text. The scale is 1"=40' hor and 1"=4' ver with a 10:1 exageration.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI need to create a section of a 3d model. Unfortuntaly the layout tab I need is missing. Normally if somthing is missing I type 'CUI' and then click Ribbon>Tabs> select the one I want and drag it to 'Workspaces Contents' - 'Ribbon Tabs'

It looks like it highlights the tab for a nanosecond then crosshairs appear with an empty command line.
I eventually renamed one tab by selecting rename like fifty-eleven times.
