AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Export To Paper Layout
Nov 3, 2012I need moving my drawing from model mode to paper layout.

View 1 Replies I want to use "export Layout" using API.Â
Also tried via send command, but no use.
I need to export a layout to a new model -as a new drawing-.  I did ths after bind all the  X-ref files and explode them all then with "Export layout to new model" command from the right click menu on Layout tab. But the file is slightly big,  the file has more than about 105 layout , the AutoCAD gets hang and after about 10-15 mins it shows a dialogue box contents"Unhandelled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue the application will ignore this and attempt to continue" I clicked on "Continue" and a file has been created with 0 bites. And that file cannot be opened.

I have used the following code in a small app to create named views: LINK_TO_Autodesk_Help_Topic
However...A user of mine tried running the command while in a paper space layout. It appears the view still gets created but only within Model Space.Â
The help DOES SAY that "a default model space view is created", but how would I specify that I want the view to be created within the "current" layout, either Model or Paper space?
I tried setting the .OwnerID property of the ViewTableRecord to "doc.CurrentSpaceID" but that did not work - no error either.
I created a Title Block in Model Space with a Scale of 1:100. When I copy it with Base point and paste it in Layout Paper space it do not fit with the default paper space. What will I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to change the paper space(layout) background color?I do not mean the sheet color, but the rest of the space.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've set up an 8.5 x11paper space layout in one file and would now like to transfer it into another drawing file.
What is the best way of doing this?
I want to create a simple scale bar in a paper space layout, that is dynamically linked to the scale of the viewport.Â
I've searched and come across a few dynamic scale bars on the web and a few forum discussions, but I just can't work out how to create my own from scratch...

I have a number of problems with alignment labels showing up in layouts that I don't want to show or want to show up differently,. Is there any way to label an alignment in paper space (layout)? (or any other type of label).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 3D drawing in model space which I want to print with different views. I know how to make viewports for top orthographic view, side, front and 3D perspective view, but I can't figure out how to make a sectional view viewport from the 3D drawing as well.
Also, I can't figure out how to have autocad place hidden lines and centerlines for me.
I'm trying to display the papersize of a layout in a block. So far I've looked into diesel and field expressions.
With field expressions I can get the name of the papersize to display that's too long(OVERSIZE: ISO A1), I need only the last two letters.
Any LISP routine that can create multiple paper space layout tabs and can name them incrementally. I have a template and I wanted to copy tab2 of my layout multiple times and name them incrementally. I have a code shown below that comes close to what I need it to do but it creates a "New Layout" instead of copying the tab I need it to. Please see code below:
(vl-load-com)(defun c:LAYOUT+ (/ *error* prefix i n acDoc oLayouts layoutName) (defun *error* (msg) (if acDoc (vla-endundomark acDoc) ) (cond ((not msg)) ; Normal exit ((member msg '("Function cancelled" "quit / exit abort"))) ; <esc> or (quit) ((princ (strcat "
** Error: " msg " ** "))) ; Fatal error, display it ) (princ) ) (if (and (setq prefix (getstring "
Enter layout name prefix: "))

I´ve got a headed paper done in photoshop (as it is quite difficult to create a decent design directly in word) and was wondering if there is any way it can be imported into word (maybe as a template, or bacground image, or something)
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm trying to print my drawing A3 but when i shrink the page outline to suit, the print area is still A1. My original page size was A1.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI reset preferences using the shift key and the instructions on the cited web site. neither worked I also restarted the computer. If I open paint shop X5 the paper edges can be seen behind the image but if you look at the enclosed screen print you can see paper edges are not visible in paint shop pro X6.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been exporting my layout to a pdf and when I open on one computer it is fine, but when I open the pdf on another computer features are missing and I get an error message from adobe "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct this problem"
I have restarted the computers, renamed the file. What to do now.
Don't think this is a dimassociate problem because dimensions of model are fine in paper space. So I save drawing, even tried regen, then export to pdf for customer, and most of the pdf dimensions are jumbled and in paper space scale. Dimenions are not annotative.
View 9 Replies View Relateddrawing created, set image in perspective, hide, used 3dOrbit to position and so forth to what wanted. Then create new layout which shows just fine.BUT can't "select" anything to export from layout. If try to export directly from drawing sheet it exports hidden lines and is white on black (which don't need or want in an advertising image).I KNOW this can be done since I did it 10 years ago, got nice clean images (for a number of products I sell) as *.wmf files that I have been using since then. But, have lost some of images and having a problem updating my company catalog (but need to recall how to do this as may need different drawings in the future-I did it before). Have read mentions here of JPGOUT command but that doesn't work on my AutoCAD 2000.
View 9 Replies View Relatedin Autocad i have set up my workspace layout (how all my toolbars are arranged), How i can export this and use it on somebody else autocad (transport via flashdrive).
View 5 Replies View Relatedi downloaded the trial version of 2k9, on a win xp machine, with the main interest in trying out this new feature...unfortunately i have yet been successfull in using it as autocad either locks-up durring the export or end up with an "unhandled exeption...eDegenerateGeometry"...
i'm also attaching the details of such an exception (and i probably should report this to autodesk for their investigations)...
I have a Civil 3D project with piping networks, grading etc. The servicing and grading plans are on layout tabs (5 of each 10 in total). When I would go export layout Civil 3D would go into not responding mode and crash. This caused quit a bit of stress as we had to get the drawings out to meet a deadline. Â
After investigating this issue, we identified that we had save our layer states in the layer manager. Delete the viewport on the layout tabs, draw a new viewport and then reinstate the layer states for each layout. This resolved, the crashing issue.Â

VB code to do the EXPORTLAYOUT command? I need to create a batch program to do a large number of files from the layout to the model space. The program can either copy the layout to the modelspace and save or copy the layout to a new file. Either way is fine. These are old MDT files that we are moving into the Vault, but Vault doesn't like them and the drafters are using AutoCAD in modelspace to revise them.

I have a file dwg with a drawing (drawing of the customer) in space model and space paper I have several layuot (5). How I can save or export that file only contained in model space (customer drawing) and one layout of the 5? For example space + layout model No. 3 ...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried doing a block that automatically updates the X and Y coordinates from its moveable leader. I can get it to work in model space or paper space. But my problem is I want it to work in PS, but update with the MS coordinates through the viewport.
I can get it to update, by LISP, by picking a point and passing the points to the blocks attributes. At the moment I have a LISP when actioned it locks the viewports, activates the viewport, and asks you to select a point. Once selected it de-activates the viewport (going back into layout tab) then asks which block you want to update. Where you now select the block and it updates the coordinates.  I.e. manually pick the point in MS, switch to PS and then manually pick the block. Then I have to manually modify the leader to the correct location.
I'm hoping that I can (In PS) move the end of the leader to snap to a position in MS and the coord updates to reflect the correct MS coordinates. I'm thinking that maybe this can't be done automatically and that I maybe can move the leader but I'm not sure how I can do it without running a LISP to update the block?
I'd be happy moving the leader then just running a single command and the leader coordinates updating without having to select the points and the block again.

I've attached the block showing the auto update of the attributes (fields).
In Inventor, when I export my idw to PDF, then open the pdf, the PDF opens with the "layers" browser open. Its easy enough to click the little arrow and close it, but I had rather not do that everytime.
I can change the defualt for this one file (via acrobat>File > properties, initial view tab). But that does not work when I create another new pdf.
Nothing in the Inventor options when I export it makes a difference.
I have a question about exporting layouts into the model space coordinate system. I have a lot of drawings created from view frame and sheet set manager.
Each drawing has its own layout and it needs to be exported into model space. But when I export the layout it places the drawing into 0,0 in model space.
Is there any way to have it placed at the drawings coordinate system, assuming its in CA-VF (California State Plane Zone V, US foot) ?
Can it also be rotated, including title block, if the the viewport has a rotation (if the north arrow is not pointing up)?
We need to export the dwg's into dgn's. Our client uses Microstation v7 and all drawings need to be in that format.
I know v7 is old but what are you going to do.
I have AutoCAD 2013 and usially use in my work dynamic blocks with wipeout, e.g. valves, pumps and others.
So, few days ago I found that I cannot export my drawing from layout to model space. Everything is exported except wipeouts.
Is it something about new Autodesk politics or what? AutoCAD 2010 still works fine with the same drawing.
Examle.dwg is attached.
