AutoCad 3D :: Paper Dims Change After Export To PDF?
Nov 9, 2012
Don't think this is a dimassociate problem because dimensions of model are fine in paper space. So I save drawing, even tried regen, then export to pdf for customer, and most of the pdf dimensions are jumbled and in paper space scale. Dimenions are not annotative.
I have some radial dimensions that I want to change to my current dimstyle. I can not see a way to change them. If I select one and check it's properties, the "Dim Style" biox is greyed out and can not be changed.
I've run into a small problem while trying to export a drawing from paper space as a PDF. The drawing is of an electrical panel for a product. The panel is rather large, but the drawing includes some smaller details, such as a vendor logo on a component or a few extra lines on the border of a display screen. We have a large, multi page PDF file that uses A4 paper size that I need to insert this drawing into, so the export must be at this size. When exporting, I have CAD set to use monochrome and ignore the line weights, which solved my initial problem that the parts would show up as solid black splotches.
Now that the back story is over, here's the problem. When I export the pdf, everything looks great except these small details around the components. For some reason, the lines in the components will shift to one side or the other, causing breaks between features. Most of these breaks occur between an arc endpoint and a line endpoint. The export also excludes some smaller bits of geometry.
In Civil 3D 2010, the color of the paper background was a darker color and I was able to have yellow text on top of it and be able to edit the text. Now with Civil 3D 2013, the color of the paper background in paper space is white and I can't read the yellow text. I know that you can either turn the paper background on or off, but is ther a way to change its color so that it is darker?
When trying to change the plotter name to 'Adobe PDF' I cannot get the paper size and orientation to change.
I change to 'Adobe PDF', then change the properties to ARCH D drawing size and landscape, click OK, save changes to printer config and when it returns to Plot-Model window nothing is changed. We just switched over from Windows XP to Windows7.
I have created the code to print out the pages from a drawing using Ilogic and the Print Manager. However, I cannot get the ilogic code via the Print Manager to change either the orientation OR the paper size to suit the print out.
For example, If I have an A3 drawing i can create the Ilogic code for the Print Manager to select the page size of A3 (kPaperSizeA3) within the code, but when I run the code the printer will ONLY select the Default of A4 paper.
The A3 paper is in a different tray but I cannot get the Print Manager to Select the A3 Paper. The printer we are having this issue with is a HP LaserJet 5200...We are also having the same problem of Printing out 1:1 Scale drawing to an A0 Plotter. I cannot get the Print Manager to change the Output Page Size either.
This is for a HP DesignJet 430...I have just tried to use the iLogic Snippet for Printing, and if you change the page size to suit A3 (kPaperSizeA3), the printer asks for a paper size of 312mm x 210mm.... This was with the HP LaserJet 5200.
how to get the Printer output paper size changed through the Print Manager.
How I would change both the model and paper space thickness of a line in AutoCAD 2004? I've tried changing "line thickness" and "line weight" in the properties dialog box but it doesn't seem to matter whether it's 0 or 9,999,999 or any number, it just looks the same, in both the model space and paper space views.
I have a drawing someone else did that uses polylines of different thickness so I have tried to figure out how they did it. Again, looking at the properties dialog box it seems to make no difference what I set the "line thickness" or "line weight" properties to...the line just stays the same size regardless.
I want to change line thicknesses because I'm designing a surface water pipe layout...I want the pipes to be a lot thicker than the lines that represent the actual building so that they will stand out when I plot the drawing.
Trying to change the printable area of custom paper sizes?
I've plotter that allows me to create 5 custom paper sizes for each pc3 file, however after create them, i cant always access to change their printable area, you know adjusting their margins, and the strange thing is that this error doesn’t happen all the time, sometimes after a while trying they work, but just for a couple of times, after that the problem remains.
autocad.png
To be more clear, you can see on the image that it doesn’t recognize the custom paper size i have selected, however it works from time to time, allowing me to edit those margins, and after save them, they work just fine and i can use those paper sizes with no problems.
I've tried to edit the pc3 file through windows, and a message appears saying that an unknown error has occurred.
Can I change the LTSCALE in paper space and in model space interchangeably?
I am struggling with the batt insulation big time. I get it looking perfect in paper space and then I go to model space and move a piece of batt insulation and then when I go back to paper space the LTSCALE of the batt insulation has changed. It's really weird. Batt insulation is killing me. I set the LTSCALE globally as well as each individual batt insulation but it keeps changing without me messign with the LTSCALE. Killing... Me...
But how can I leave default paper size not "A4"? For example if there is "A3" it should stay "A3". Because if I go through each drawing I don't know what is the current paper size I just need to change the plot device becuse default has been crashed for example. But if I write "A4" each drawing will have "A4".
I having a problem with the attached drawing. The dimension I draw up in model space is not appearing in the layout tab. Its appearing as a heavy blue line & is ineligible in the layout tab. How can I fix this?
If I use a linear dimension, and the value works out to something like 4'-1/2", Autocad will display 4'-01/2".
This is the documented behavior per autocad documentation:
Link to Documentation
"If feet are included with a fractional inch, the number of inches is indicated as zero, no matter which option you select. Thus, the dimension 4'-3/4" becomes 4'-0 3/4"."
It is also an extraordinarily silly behavior. How can I force my dims to display 4'-1/2" other than exploding them and editing by hand? ( or by using the "text override" feature )
i'm trying to produce a layout using solview and soldraw in autocad 2013, but have come across a very frustrating problem, autocad lets me create the top, side and front view no problem, when i start to dimension the views the dimensions in the top and side view are fine but the dims in the front view are invisible, the command works as normal but no dims are visible, i have checked the freeze/thaw for all views but to no avail, the only other thing i can think of is that autocad has created an incorrect view and i'm dimensioning something that i simply can't see, if this is so how could i get around it.
By some setting or default, when I dimension a diameter in Autocad 2010, I get a dim line that only has one arrow that points to one side of a circle, just like a radius. I'd like the diameter dims to have an arrow on both sides of circles.
I've been through the settings in Dimstyles. and didn't find a combination that made the desired change. I've looked at the properties for a specific diameter dimension and found nothing that worked there. I looked into block modifications using BEDIT and Properties, but I found nothing there either. While I may have overlooked a combination of changes in Properties, I tried a lot in there.
I have been printing successfully on sheet paper with my Epson 4880 and when I tried to switch over to roll paper I consistently get error messages regarding paper settings. The printer indicator shows roll paper.
Apparently we're using ordinate dimensions in a way that was not intended, but that makes perfect sense to us. We work with building elevations and sometimes, though not too often, there are points that fall below the zero elevation. But when we put an ordinate dim on these points it is noted as a positive number.
Is there some way to get these to show with a negative sign? For example, -4'-3"
I know it is a simple thing but for the life of me I cannot make it work. I must of hit a button and messed it up.
Annotative dims and text. I have multiple view ports ranging from 1/8 to 1-1/2 inch scale in one paper space. I have noted items (in model) and need them to appear in the different scaled VP's. However, too much is showing up. All scales in all vp's are active, not just the scale of the vp.
We have a base drawing that is xreffed into other drawings, it is made up of various building sections (some horizontal some vertical). We have dimmed the grids using linear dimensions. When we bring in the drawing as an xref and rotate it 90 degrees (so the vertical sections are now horizontal) all the dims are now upside down.
Is there a variable/method to stop this from happening.
I've set up a load of dim styles for varying scales i.e 1:1 through to 1:50.Now the text height is set to 2.5 on 1:1. However when I have changed a dimension string to the dimstyle the text changes to 0.625!?
But if I draw a dim from scratch it's correct. The dimensions are not annotative. When I open properties bar the text height is stated at the desired 2.5 but when I double click to edit text it says 0.625.
Now I can't be bothered to go through my drawings and double click to edit the text hieght or redraw all my dims I just want to 'matchprop', but it's matching!
Just installed 2013 and have a couple of buggy problems.
1.I can't double click on dims to add / edit text. I've added / changed the cui double click settings but that does work.
2.The new array command does bring up the associated ribbon panel after the array has been created. I can get this to work while using Civils as AutoCAd, but not as Civils?
In earlier releases of Acad, when Dimensioning, I could bring a new dim inline with an existing dim and the with using osnap align the new dim with the existing dim. With 2013, I can not get the osnap pick box to appear on the existing dim to be able to keep all my dims inline.
