AutoCAD 2013 :: Viewports In Same Layout Showing Different Drawings?
May 22, 2013Is it possible to show two different viewports in the same layout that show views from two different drawings? So one viewport would show a section of the current drawing's modelspace, and the second viewport would show a a section of modelspace from another drawing? (and possibly update automatically like an XREF?) Or would the easiest way be to just XREF both drawings into a new drawing, and then show viewports from them in the new drawing?

Mar 24, 2011I guess the title pretty much says it all Dashed lines in my drawing turn solid when i switch to the layout area, and when i try to plot. I've tried fiddling with line type scale, but it hasn't solved the problem. I've attached one of the drawings i'm having trouble with.
I think i might have figured it out, when i set lts to 0.05 the show up fine in the layout area, but in the drawing are it looks like the line type scale is way too low. why the dashed lines don't show up the same in the drawing and layout areas?
Lightroom :: Page Layout Only Showing In MM?
Feb 6, 2013In the print module when I click on page setup it is only showing me measurements in mm. This means that when I want to, for instance, create a 10x8 custom page, I can only do it in mm. I have the ruler units set to inches in layout. I've looked to see if I can change it in preferences, but can't find anything.

Apr 17, 2013Is it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.
AutoCad :: Text / Dimension Showing Old Text When Marked
Oct 20, 2011When i mark Text/Dimension/Multileader and such in autocad 2011 LT, i get an issue, which i have tried to shown on the picture.The problem is that when i mark them, they show the current size they have, plus any other size they have had (Annotation it seems).
I Make a dimension. The overall annotation scale is 1:10. Now i change the overall annotation scale to 1:100. Then i set the overall annotation scale back to 1:10, i click my dimension, and it now shows how it currently looks, plus how it looked when the annotation scale was 1:100. This way i end up with every text object showing up 5 times when i mark them.

Oct 21, 2013We have a problem with AutoCAD R2011. The drafter made a rectangle, put some M Text in it, and when he looked at the layout the text does not show up. It's on a visible layer, and when he takes some existing text and sticks it in the rectangle, it works fine. We are just using "MatchProp" to work around the problem. Is there a way to "globally" set the text properties of the drawing to those of a particular instance of text?

AutoCad :: Linking Text Blocks From One Layout To Another
Jul 19, 2012I have a little knowledge of AutoCAD and I do a lot of reports using only AutoCAD, each sheet has a border on it with the project info, no., etc. Is there a way we can link the text blocks in page 1/layout 1 to the other pages/layouts so I don't have to go to each layout and edit the text block individually? Also, i did not draw the template so as to how it was constructed i do not know.

Feb 26, 2013Since it's a snow day here I have some time to work on some office stuff. I've created my new template now I want to update my blocks. Because I have to place blocks that show a direction for operation I have created 4 blocks of the same symbol-up, down, left, right. I do this because these blocks have text with them that needs to be orientated to the layout (otherwise I get a nasty letter back from the fire marshal). Now for the text that is constant I just use a annotative text style and have the text match the layout but the text that is an attribute I'm not sure if that can be annotative and match the layout as well.

Illustrator :: Extra Text Showing When Paste Text
Oct 1, 2012In the past day I have run into a problem whenever I copy and paste any text inside Illustartor CS6. If I copy text from outside Illustator and paste in a file, everything is ok. But if I copy text from inside an AI file and paste into another AI file or to the same file, I get a bunch of extra text that gets displayed before the pasted text. In the example below I copied and pasted the text "This is a test" within the same AI file, and got the a bunch of information above the text.

Jun 16, 2011I am running AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2012. When editting Text or MText, if I try to highlight some part of text, it does highlight BUT it does not show the highlight. What I mean is like if you were to highlight some text of this paragraph, on any internet explorer, it should highlight whatever text with blue. On every other version of AutoCAD, this is also the case. On my AutoCAD, I can highlight the text but it never shows the blue highlight, it does not show it as I am highlighting, nor does not show after I make my selection. If you are very careful you can still select the correct text, but this makes it very hard to know exactly what you are about to edit or delete. I was wondering if there is some setting that may have been in previous AutoCAD that I don't know about that somehow got changed or something?

I am using Style: Swis721 BT-Italic. I use that style in the profile for labels and in plan view. When I plot out the sheet the profile view plots good but the text that was aligned in the plan view is very bold.
