View 4 RepliesIs it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.
Since it's a snow day here I have some time to work on some office stuff. I've created my new template now I want to update my blocks. Because I have to place blocks that show a direction for operation I have created 4 blocks of the same symbol-up, down, left, right. I do this because these blocks have text with them that needs to be orientated to the layout (otherwise I get a nasty letter back from the fire marshal). Now for the text that is constant I just use a annotative text style and have the text match the layout but the text that is an attribute I'm not sure if that can be annotative and match the layout as well.

Apparently text will always rotate about the bottom left grip and not the justified grip.
This is a massive issue that makes this great feature virtually worthless.
If the text is going to rotate in multiple viewports you need it to stay in the same place!
A client gave us a file in which the drawing in model space has an orientation wherein the N is in positive y-axis. But if I go to layout (viewport), the orientation of the drawing is different, N is 45 deg from the x-axis. How does the orientation of a drawing in layout (viewport) changed without changing the original orientation of the drawing in model space?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIf I'm in the layout view, I want to add a Title Border. All of my layout previews are default in Landscape. When I use the Title Border (via the ribbon) and go thru the options, it seems that my only choice is a A4 PORTRAIT border with title block.
Now my preference is to use a landscape orientation, but I can't get it to work yet.
How to keep the location and orientation of the “text” to the left of the “mirrored” elements?
In the screenshots below, I wanted to mirror the drawing but still I need to have the “text” to the left of the mirrored objects with the same settings and orientation.
Is there a way to do that?
To overcome this particular need, I mirror the drawing in the regular way then playing abit to let the text appears the way I like them to be.

I'm wondering is it possible to orientate the dimension text alligned to paper(2.jpg) but not the UCS of Isometric drawing(1.jpg).
Sometime I need to allocate my drawing with dimensioning in isometric view because its more easy to read.
I'm placing my drawing in *.idw.
When I copyclip a dimension from one drawing with UCS set to world/north, then paste into another drawing with UCS rotated in Z (south for example), the text remains oriented to north. The original drawing doesn't have to be set to world, just something different from the paste orientation.
Is there a way to have the text orient itself to the current UCS at paste?
For some crazy reason ... on this last install of PS CS2 the text orientation is vertical by default. So everytime I want to use the text tool I have to start the text then change the orientation. How may I set the default to horizontal - permanently?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago my text suddenly defaults to vertical eveytime I start to enter text.. just aggrivating, I have to start typing text, then go up and click on the change text orientation button each time. I can't figure out how to change the orientation back to a default of horzontal.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have a problem with AutoCAD R2011. The drafter made a rectangle, put some M Text in it, and when he looked at the layout the text does not show up. It's on a visible layer, and when he takes some existing text and sticks it in the rectangle, it works fine. We are just using "MatchProp" to work around the problem. Is there a way to "globally" set the text properties of the drawing to those of a particular instance of text?

I have a little knowledge of AutoCAD and I do a lot of reports using only AutoCAD, each sheet has a border on it with the project info, no., etc. Is there a way we can link the text blocks in page 1/layout 1 to the other pages/layouts so I don't have to go to each layout and edit the text block individually? Also, i did not draw the template so as to how it was constructed i do not know.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen viewing my drawing in model space it is very clear however as soon as i view it in layout and apply a scale, the additional lines writing etc become very blurry. I am scaling to A3 1:250 from model space
Are there any rule of thumbs with regards to line types, text etc to ensure they are not blurred when applying to layout?

When I have my alignment labels and plan view text align to the layout view in Paper Space they plot out very bold.
I am using Style: Swis721 BT-Italic. I use that style in the profile for labels and in plan view. When I plot out the sheet the profile view plots good but the text that was aligned in the plan view is very bold.
I am having difficulty with the text in my drawings. When writing dtext or dimensions on my drawings in modelspace the text appears rough/rugged in both model space and layout space. I am using True Type (Arial) as the font. I've read older posts where people have suggested checking in Properties that the text is really laying down at 0 in the Z plane which it is. Some say using True Type is the problem, but just last week I was doing what seemed to be the same operation and I had no problems at all.
