AutoCad 2D :: Text To Match Layout Orientation With Blocks?

Feb 26, 2013

Since it's a snow day here I have some time to work on some office stuff. I've created my new template now I want to update my blocks. Because I have to place blocks that show a direction for operation I have created 4 blocks of the same symbol-up, down, left, right. I do this because these blocks have text with them that needs to be orientated to the layout (otherwise I get a nasty letter back from the fire marshal). Now for the text that is constant I just use a annotative text style and have the text match the layout but the text that is an attribute I'm not sure if that can be annotative and match the layout as well.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Annotative Text Rotation Point When Set To Match Orientation To Layout

Aug 15, 2012

Apparently text will always rotate about the bottom left grip and not the justified grip.

This is a massive issue that makes this great feature virtually worthless.

If the text is going to rotate in multiple viewports you need it to stay in the same place!

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Text Orientation Matched To The Layout

Apr 17, 2013

Is it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines.

I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.

The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.

AutoCad :: Linking Text Blocks From One Layout To Another

Jul 19, 2012

I have a little knowledge of AutoCAD and I do a lot of reports using only AutoCAD, each sheet has a border on it with the project info, no., etc. Is there a way we can link the text blocks in page 1/layout 1 to the other pages/layouts so I don't have to go to each layout and edit the text block individually? Also, i did not draw the template so as to how it was constructed i do not know.

AutoCAD LT :: Orientation Of Drawing In Layout

Mar 15, 2011

A client gave us a file in which the drawing in model space has an orientation wherein the N is in positive y-axis. But if I go to layout (viewport), the orientation of the drawing is different, N is 45 deg from the x-axis. How does the orientation of a drawing in layout (viewport) changed without changing the original orientation of the drawing in model space?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Zoom All & Extents With Blocks Containing Fields On Layout Tabs

Aug 22, 2013

We have a new title block which now contains various fields to automatically populate the drawing number, number of sheets, issue etc.  The problem we have is when we go to zoom all or extents on a layout tab it moves the layout to the right each time.  If we only have one layout or we use a plain title block i.e. with no fields, the zoom works fine (layout stays put in the center).  This is also true if we directly insert a field onto the layout - again no problems.

The cause of the problem only happens when a block containing a field is inserted onto the paper space of a layout and, there are multiple layouts containing blocks with fields.

AutoCAD .NET :: Match Block Orientating To Layout

Nov 10, 2011

In AutoCAD it is possible to set the orientating of a block to the orientating of the layout.

This can be done to run the " block" command, select the block to change, and and activate " Annotative"  and " Match block orientating to layout"

For example, you may want to have a block presenting the locating of an elevator automatically orientated to every layout.

In a layout with a rotated viewport by 90 degrees, all the elevator blocks are shown according the layout. Is it possible to set the block orientating to match the layout in .NET ?

Is it possible to set the block orientating to match the layout even the block is not annotative?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: MTEXT Rotated 90 In Model Space When Set To Match Layout

Jan 3, 2013

I have a drawing I am working on regardless of whether I use DVIEW Twist or UCS rotate I encounter the same issue. I start with MTEXT that is parallel to my intended view. However, as soon as I make it annotative and set it to Match Layout the text rotates 90-degrees and is no longer plan readable. The text lives in model space, not paper space. I've even roated the layout viewports in this specific drawing to match, and the text appears correct when viewed through a viewport, but when I jump back to model it is turned on end 90-degrees again! Have I missed  a setting somewhere? Shouldnt the text reamin oriented with current view in model space?

I am uploading a link to a video which shows this problem in detail. URL...

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Open Xref In Selected Layout And Zoom To Match View

May 29, 2013

I have used Autocad since 1991, and my current job required me to use Microstation. One feature I liked from Microstation is the ability to select and open an external DGN reference, and then match the view of the parent DGN, called the "EXCHANGE" command. In AutoCAD, you can also select and open an xref, but the DWG opens to the previous saved view, and not to the desired view that matches the layout.

My thought was to experiment with lisp or script and export the "Viewctr", "Viewtwist" and "Viewsize" variables to a text file, then importing the text file and using the "Viewtwist" as my "SNAPANG" value, then "Viewctr" as my "ZOOM, CENTER" value, and finally the "Viewsize" as the "Enter magnification or height:" value.

But, alas, I have no time, and not quite the knowledge to duplicate MicroStation's open-xref-and-zoom-to-view feature. I hesitate using the REFEDIT, which works fine for regular AutoCAD, but not so much for Civil 3D and the objects it creates (labels and other items with data shortcuts).

AutoCAD Architecture :: Match Properties Changing AEC Blocks?

Dec 21, 2011

We've just upgraded to AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and I discovered that my match properties command (MA) is now on steroids.   In the process of making an existing plan into a demo plan, I put a toilet on a demo layer.   I intended to use match properties to put other select items on the same demo layer, but when I touched the lavatory, it turned into a toilet.   I've never had this happen before.   In trying to solve the issue, I've discovered the same thing happens with other AEC objects (couches, urnials, chairs -- all became toilets) and it happens in multiple files.   Only walls and doors remain intact with only the layer, color and linetype changing (which is what I was expecting).

I looked at the settings inside the match properties command and none of them seemed to apply. I deselected the special properties options anyway, but the problem remains.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Contents Of Attachment Doesn't Match Its File Type

Sep 4, 2013

Trying to create a dynamic block that will multiply the number of neutral and ground blocks as it's stretched.

My power terminal strips can contain 1 to unknown number of circuit breakers, and each circuit breaker requires a neutral and a ground block.

All the similar items in a stip are grouped together, all the circuit breakers, then the neutrals than the grounds.

So depending on how many circuit breakers I have I'll  need the same number of neutrals and grounds, but grouped together.

In the attached block I added the stretch action to move the end cover and end stop of the strip down, but don't know how array/space/stretch the neutrals and grounds so they're grouped together.

The ciruict breakers aren't shown as they can be from different manufacturers and therefore different widths.

Tried attaching my block file but get this error message:

"The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."
