AutoCad 2D :: Adjusting Dimension Scale To Match Blocks And Objects In Drawings
Sep 13, 2011I am having some trouble adjusting the dimension scale to match blocks and objects in my drawings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently started working at an Electrical Engineering firm and one of my many tasks is to sort out their AutoCad system and bring it up to date! An issue that has only recently started happening is that our blocks don't insert at the correct scale. Some of our drawings are metric and some are imperial, and currently all our blocks are in one Imperial file (reference file for our palettes). Is this our issue, my understanding is that when you create a block you should create it as a wblock and each block should have its own file.
The problem is that some of our blocks we want to come in at scale ex/ a 2'x4' light fixture, however an electrical socket or light switch symbol we want to come in at a slightly enlarged scale so that you can easily read the drawing and see where they are located.
Scale Stroke and Effects Option Odd Behaviours. If multiple objects selected and they're scaled in only one dimension, Illustrator assumes this to be a scale in 2 dimensions.
Is there a work around for this?
I want to adjust the colors in this image so that "Red" is red, "Blue" is blue, etc:
(I have a larger version of the image that I am using,)
I am trying to insert a block into a file in Acad 2014 and it comes in too large. If I insert the same block into the same file using Acad 2012 it comes in at the correct scale. Doesn't seem to matter if insunits is 0 or 1, or insunitsdefsource or insunitsdeftarget are also 0 or 1.
There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.
In 2011 AutoCAD Mechanical, I used to be able to match dimension override properties including the entered text. Not sure how it worked, but the manual entered text would be matched/transferred to the new default dimension. Now using 2012 and this function is not working. This feature is quite handy for the type of work we do. All match property settings are enabled.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have over 100 blocks that I need to add the exact same objects and visibility state to. Is there a way to globally make this change, or even to copy the visibility states from one block to the next without having to recreate the states in each block? I thought I had previously run across a routine on here that would make changes to multiple blocks at once, but I can't seem to find it now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe AttSync command does what it advertises fairly well. My problem is that I have thousands of small blocks in a single drawing. (My current drawing has 2100 block references with four attributes in each one.) I may change the attribute values in a few of them and need to re-sync the attribute locations. When I run AttSync it updates every single block insertion. One of two things are desired:
1)Flag each block insertion as having been sync'ed, reducing the number of objects requiring synchronization when AttSync is called again. Provide a way to force all to be sync'ed.
2)Allow a selection set in the AttSync command after selecting the block to sync.
Either or both of these would a great time-saver for those of us with large numbers of blocks with attributes.
There are 3 elements there. the top of the clap board was placed before i started tryinbg to create the slanted dashes that are on the average clapboards. The white dash was skewed using Object > Transform > Shear. Then i attempted to rotate it to fit.
I need 4 of these skwed white squares / trapezoids on the top along with 4 to match on the top of the larger potion of the clapboard. I do not want to eye it as it will be a part of a logo.
What would be the best method to use?Is there a way to draw the 4 rectangles on top of a perfectly horizontal long black rectangle and skew the white dashes at the same time?Is there a way to skew based on the dimensions of the longer black rectangle?
I've been using AuroCAD long time ago back in school, and then I moved out to bentlye's microstation after I started working for Jacobs Eng. and now I have to get back to AutoCAD again. My question is how to get the revcloud and text and the revision diamond… and everything to be match with the drawing's size? coz we have stranded in microstation, that’s give you the right size for everything according to the sheet scale.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe've just upgraded to AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and I discovered that my match properties command (MA) is now on steroids. In the process of making an existing plan into a demo plan, I put a toilet on a demo layer. I intended to use match properties to put other select items on the same demo layer, but when I touched the lavatory, it turned into a toilet. I've never had this happen before. In trying to solve the issue, I've discovered the same thing happens with other AEC objects (couches, urnials, chairs -- all became toilets) and it happens in multiple files. Only walls and doors remain intact with only the layer, color and linetype changing (which is what I was expecting).
I looked at the settings inside the match properties command and none of them seemed to apply. I deselected the special properties options anyway, but the problem remains.
Since it's a snow day here I have some time to work on some office stuff. I've created my new template now I want to update my blocks. Because I have to place blocks that show a direction for operation I have created 4 blocks of the same symbol-up, down, left, right. I do this because these blocks have text with them that needs to be orientated to the layout (otherwise I get a nasty letter back from the fire marshal). Now for the text that is constant I just use a annotative text style and have the text match the layout but the text that is an attribute I'm not sure if that can be annotative and match the layout as well.

I have to alter blocks with alomst every survey dwg I receive whilst at work. Just wondering if there is a quick way to do all blocks in the one go !
The crux of the matter is that the CANNOSCALE value needs to match an existing named scale. This lisp is part of a bigger lisp and I need to pass a variable into it. Here's what I have:
(setvar "CANNOSCALE" (strcat "1" = " (rtos variable 2 0) "'"))
But I get this error when I try to run it.
; error: bad argument type: numberp: nil
I have a CAD Drawing in 2010 format. I printed the same drawing from two different types of printer. One from HP Officejet K7108 printer and another from HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format Printer - E809a. But the scale of both drawings are not same.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI worked in a drawing(#1) a few weeks ago and since then have copy pasted the drawings to be scaled at 1 1/2" into another drawing(#2) and have since been only working in this drawing(#2).
In the original drawing(#1), I was able to scale my drawings at 1 1/2" without any problems but in my second drawing(#2), when I try to scale drawings at 1 1/2" all of my annotative bubbles get ridiculously small.
Once having discovered this, I copy pasted my second drawing'(#2) components into a 'Copy' of my original drawing(#1), thinking that my second drawing(#2) file might have been contaminated, but with no luck because I could see that within the Same viewport scaled at 1 1/2" the original drawing(#1) was scaled properly but the second drawing'(#2) symbols became very small.
I am stuck.
Trying to create a dynamic block that will multiply the number of neutral and ground blocks as it's stretched.
My power terminal strips can contain 1 to unknown number of circuit breakers, and each circuit breaker requires a neutral and a ground block.
All the similar items in a stip are grouped together, all the circuit breakers, then the neutrals than the grounds.
So depending on how many circuit breakers I have I'll need the same number of neutrals and grounds, but grouped together.
In the attached block I added the stretch action to move the end cover and end stop of the strip down, but don't know how array/space/stretch the neutrals and grounds so they're grouped together.
The ciruict breakers aren't shown as they can be from different manufacturers and therefore different widths.
Tried attaching my block file but get this error message:
"The contents of the attachment doesn't match its file type."
I'm currently learning Inventor and going through the tutorials. At present I am learning about drawings. For some reason the scale (e.g 1:1) and dimension numbers do not appear in the drawings. I can see the arrows that make the dimensions but that is all. How to turn these on? I have tried every setting I can find but it appears that I can't figure this out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get everyone on the right page, but I can't find any reference to how to properly show a dimnesion that spans across 2 different drawings (with use of a matchline or on a piping isometric that is split). Would either of these examples be the correct way to show a dimension that spans 2 drawing files? Is there a different way to show a dimension that is to span 2 drawings?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Dimension association to any existing object in my drawings. If i draw anything new in the same drawing this problem does not occur. The leaders are also associating themselevs to these objects.
When i select a line, no grips appear even though if i draw a new line they do.
-I have tried to use DIMDISASSOCIATE the dimensions from the objsect to no avail.
-I have tried changing the DIMASSOC variable but this didnt work.
-I have tried exporting the objects to new files but still the same problem, only with the objects from this drawing.
It seems to have made every object associative. The only thing i can think that caused this was i pasted in a drawing from a pre 2002 Autocad version.
In AutoCAD 2012 My dimension style/scale seems to change automatically. I'll add one dimension in paper space, and then the very next dimension will be in a different style. It will say 30" one time, then 400" the next. Seems like it picks its own scale randomly. It happens with the default dim styles as well as custom styles.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using AutoCAD LT 2007 and have a problem with linetype between two drawings. I have a standard key which I use on a number of drawings, problem is when I copy from my original file (in model space) to paper space on another drawing the linetype isn't viewed the same.
I've set LTSCALE to 1. PSLTSCALE to 0, Global scale factor to 1 in both files but still no joy.
Q1: can you scale your drawings on Model Space?? if so, what command should i type?
Q2: can you scale different drawings (different scale) on Model space?
how to make the drawings on scale on layout. i have
layout.jpg
attached the pics of it also..
I need to insert a table in paperspace tab that will continually count up blocks within a set area of model space ( i need to have 3 counts, 1 for each floor of a house i.e one table per tab for that floors blocks). I have used BCOUNT and DATAEXTRACTION but they only count it once and if i add more of a certain block it does not update the table.
im using AutoCAD 2012
when I draw a shape and add a dimension to it, the text and the numerical and the arrows of the dimension are small, so I have to increase the text height manually
how can I make it automatically scale itself?
also similiar thing with the lines, I tried putting a dashed center line on a shape, it looks solid but when I zoom it it does not.
how can I solve this?
I always put the dimensions and text leaders in model space, is it true if I plan to have 3 different viewport scales, I would have to create 3 different dimension styles for each VP scale, it’s quite hard to predict in advance which VP scale that I am going to use, Let say I am going to use 1/8”=1’ what is the simple math formula to use?
