Scale Stroke and Effects Option Odd Behaviours. If multiple objects selected and they're scaled in only one dimension, Illustrator assumes this to be a scale in 2 dimensions.
Is there a work around for this?
I have a subdivided plane that I wish to scale horizontally to match another objects dimensions. In cinema 4d I can check an objects width and then just put that number into the other object width input.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried using the hot grips selection by holding shift, but some of the grips are overlapping and I can only select the top most grip. It is also a slow process because I must click each individual grip that I want to move as a whole. Is there a way of selecting multiple grips at once including grips that are beneath others?

Is there any way to scale them all without making them move along the axis being scaled? (I should have made them instances of each other. My only problem there is that I couldn't reposition one pillar without moving the others. for future reference, is there a way to temporarily break the instance relationship so on can be edited?)

I cannot move anything I select. I try to drag it and it makes the "bump" noise.
-I made sure that my preferences are not set to "object selection by path only".
-I've restarted my computer several times
-I tried to open a previous Illustrator file and I have the same problem
-I even uninstalled and reinstalled my entire Abode Suite beacuse I've been having several issues
I'm not sure if this is related but I also can't create a new document unless I use picas and CMYK coloring. It refuses to adjust to anything other than the default settings. Also, I can't increase the stroke of an object unless I type in the number, meaning I can't use the arrows for adjustment.
Is there any way to Export Selected Objects in Illustrator? I am working on a website sketch and i will need to include things outside the frame. When i select Export (or save as PDF) even if i have all objects selected i just get the JPG with the A4 paper.

When I open the logo and select all, the size displayed is 227.5417 inches x 227.5417 inches. The last one I received, the actual size of the logo was 2 inches x 1.75 inches. Having trouble moving objects between layers by simply dragging the right-hand dot to a new layer? CS6 won't let me drag the dot on any kind of selected art from any kind of file I've tried..
Click the name of the desired layer in the Layers panel. Then choose Object > Arrange > Send To Current Layer. Drag the selected-art indicator , located at the right of the layer in the Layers panel, to the layer you want. But method #2 doesn't work at all for me. In fact, the cursor doesn't even change when I mouse over the selected-art indicator dot.
I have a series of triangles along a curved path in Illustrator CS6 (mac, if that makes a difference). I want to make the triangles large as the approach the middle of the path, and smaller towards the ends. The triangles' lower-most corner must remain locked to the path. I've tried pattern brushes, but not only do they distort the triangles, but there's also no way to scale the triangles reliably (to my knowledge).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed CS6. I have found a resizing problem that seems to exist relating to both objecgts and type.
For example, I was changing the leading in some text. I typed in 11.8 and the next thing I know the leading is set as 2 pts. I have changed other thiings within the text window and had the type rescale its width. It is a bit like "whack-a-mole" in that you fix one thing and it resets something else.
When I have typed in numbers to proportionately resize an object, the next thing I know, the computer makes it much smaller. If I hit command-Z to try to get back to where I started, it resizes it in even increments (like .125" or something).
Is this some kind of maddening helper function (like the spelling correction in mail program) that can be turned off?
Normally I'd use ArtDirector Toolkit, but I can't install it or oter software right now (too long to explain why).
Anyway I have several elements to scale, and I'm trying to find a formula/calculation to determine scale.
Example - 1 object is 3.7486" and I want to make it 5.3231" - how do I calculate the scale percentage to enlarge it?
How do I fix this? I've gone through view settings so far, without success.

They vary in size and what I would like to do is find a less onerous method of resizing all the heights to a specific size, while scaling the width proportionately. I have found several scripts that come close to a solution (see links below), but none that allow me to input a height (or width) in inches and have all the objects resize to that height proportionately.
Change Width to the Width of the narrowest object --> Script01
Change Height to the Height of the shortest object --> Script02
Change Multiple Attributes (JohnWundes) --> Script03

I have long used the following lisp to convert multiple single text objects into multiple mtext objects (i.e. make each text entity into separate mtext entities).

However, the mtext entity always moves position slightly (compared to the original text entity) after converting the object. better lisp that converts multiple text entities into mtext entities (which are all separate still, i.e. not joined together) without the position of the entity changing?
I have lost the ability to free scale objects/text boxes etc. in Illustrator CS5. I have to use the scale tool every time I need to adjust the size of something and it is not a sustainable technique in terms of time/productivity/function.

Kind of like inflating/deflating a balloon with dots on the surface (the dots would get bigger/smaller). I've tried Transform>Move>Distance, and Effect>Distort & Transform>Transform>Move>Horizontal/Vertical, but both methods just moved all selected objects away from the origin point - no change to the space between objects.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs seen in the attached image, I want the red arc shape to cut out from the green logo it is sitting on top of, while also having the red arc dissappear and reveal the transparent bg. I have tried a bunch of different ways that I have read from these forums but none of them seem to work. Obviously I'm missing something. The green shield logo is made of multiple objects. The closest I got was the arc shape cut out from some of the objects of the green logo, but not all of them, and the arc shape didn't cut out as an arc, but rather as the original rectangle. The arc is created with a regular rectangle with arc effect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using stokes to mask out a shape I want. I want to remove these strokes altogether but retain the masked shape.
So for example the below image has three circles with a white stroke to form the shapes I desire.
I am perfectly happy with this when it is on a white background but I want the strokes to be transparent rather than white so that they cannot be seen on a non-white background (see below).
Obviously if I just make the strokes transparent I lose the desired shape.
This is what I am trying to achieve (this was done in Photoshop but I want to achieve the same in Illustrator).
I made 3 circles one inside the other. each has a stroke applied. I created 2 triangles and joined them to make an hour glass shape. I placed the hour glass over the circles.
Now i am trying to use the hour glass to cut the 3 circles below. It ends up looking like a spider web. In these photos the antennae is 2 shapes and on top of the layers that hold what i have described.
