View 9 RepliesI have one object and need to create a 10mm smaller copy of it and keep the propotions. Is there any way to do it or I need to draw smaller object manually?
Here is my example. Green object is original. Red one is manually re-drawed but thats not what I want.
I have a subdivided plane that I wish to scale horizontally to match another objects dimensions. In cinema 4d I can check an objects width and then just put that number into the other object width input.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a new drawing in my AutoCAD 2013 that I just recently installed last week, I encounter a problem that I am not familiar with from previus versions of AutoCAD I have worked on. First of all, the units default to decimal, and I want them to default to architectural, with feet and inches. I have to type UNITS in the command line every time I open a new drawing in order to adjust this. I have AutoCAD for Architecture 2012 on another computer, and the program automatically defaults to architectural units upon opening up. Just to let you know, the program I am having this difficulty with is part of a package called Autodesk Building Design Suite 2013. I was under the impression that it included AutoCAd for Architecture, but I think it has only standard AutoCAD.
The scale of the objects I draw vs. the scale of the drawing field is very out of proportion. What I mean is, when I open a new drawing and draw a 30' -0" line, the line appears so long on the screen that I cannot see the whole object, even if I zoom out to the maximum. I should be able to see the object in it's entirety. In fact, when I draw a line that is only 12" long, even when the zoom is all the way out, the line looks huge in length. I have tried adjusting the units to the architectural/inches setting of course, and I have tried adjusting the scale in model space from 1:1 to 1/4'=1'-0", but nothing is working.
I would like to find a lisp that changes the scale of something that has an annotative scale and deletes all other scales in the object scale list. Often i have many different scales of existing dimensions or objects. i waste a lot of time opening the annotation object scale dialogue box, selecting add, finding my scale and deleting the old scale.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have trouble figuring out dash lines. If i change global scale factor or current object scale in a spedific paper space,
the other page will be affected...
In AutoCAD 2012 My dimension style/scale seems to change automatically. I'll add one dimension in paper space, and then the very next dimension will be in a different style. It will say 30" one time, then 400" the next. Seems like it picks its own scale randomly. It happens with the default dim styles as well as custom styles.
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen I draw a shape and add a dimension to it, the text and the numerical and the arrows of the dimension are small, so I have to increase the text height manually
how can I make it automatically scale itself?
also similiar thing with the lines, I tried putting a dashed center line on a shape, it looks solid but when I zoom it it does not.
how can I solve this?
I always put the dimensions and text leaders in model space, is it true if I plan to have 3 different viewport scales, I would have to create 3 different dimension styles for each VP scale, it’s quite hard to predict in advance which VP scale that I am going to use, Let say I am going to use 1/8”=1’ what is the simple math formula to use?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have AutoCAD 2011 now and I am not sure where the Dimention style edit (to show in all dimention lines I am using) is...what I have to do now is to change each line EVERY time I dimention any thing.
the other thing is how to scale the drawign in viewport. In older versions it shows easily. Where is it in this one!?
I am working on placing boring logs in a profile. The logs come in at a 1:1 scale but the profile must be exaggerated vertically. Is there anyway to stretch/scale an object in one direction.
I currently just have plines, hatches, and text but can repaste it as a block if that will make it easier.
I have different annotative dimension on my drawing, when I select one all others dimension show up as you can see on the picture (260 three times ). Is there any solution to select dimension or text without showing other scale?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to disable the "Set sketch scale by the first dimension" feature.
The feature is nice under normal circumstances, but in my case i need to insert a dxf sketch and then draw around it in inventor. When i start to dimensioning the sketch then it scales the inserted part.
That aint so good.
When some off our users move the dimensions in paperspace or the drawing in modelspace,
only some off the dimensions would see the viewports scale factor, and multiply itself by that, from my knowledge this happens when you uses the power dimensioning in Mechanical, and the the annotative tick box is selected, but for some reason one particular user he uses normal annotations when dimensioning, where there is no annotative functionally but the dimension still behave as mentioned.

I have recently started using Architect 2012. We use Architectural Tick for dimensioning.
The problem is the Architectural Tick arrow is not coming in at the proper scale (Arrow head size = 3/32", dimscale varies). The arrow head seems to be out by a scale factor of 25.4 (found by trial and error).
If so is there a software patch or workaround. Can the Architectural Tick block be edited and if so where is it?

How to scale drawing with dimension lines without changing dimensions in dimension lines? I got drawing with correct dimension lines but geometry is wrong.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHow to make the dimension get bigger and smaller as we “scale” the drawing?
For example, the drawing in the screenshot below is scaled by 0.5 but that didn’t affect the “size” of the dimension (height of the text, extension lines, …).
Is there a way to get the dimension line affected as we scale the drawing such that the “dimension text” and the “extension line” are increased/ decreased with the scale factor?
Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, Revit

I am having some trouble adjusting the dimension scale to match blocks and objects in my drawings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedResizing objects is a mess in CorelDRAW X6 when objects are outlined with Scale With Object enabled to retain proportions after resizing.
None of the tools dealing with outlines (e.g. Contour or even Outline itself) continue to work properly after resizing the object.
I strongly suggest to recalculate outline property values after resizing if Scale With Object is checked. Don't just do it hidden somewhere internally in the object model by applying a temporary scaling factor. Instead actually recalculate the actual property values if Scale With Object is checked.

It is the way we scale 1 / 100 the size of our ِDimension, the scale to 1 / 500 to change the size of the enterprise to automatically change the scale.
This method is applicable in AutoCAD, but I could not find the software.
Scale Stroke and Effects Option Odd Behaviours. If multiple objects selected and they're scaled in only one dimension, Illustrator assumes this to be a scale in 2 dimensions.
Is there a work around for this?
How can i stretch an inserted image as ole obj with different dimension of x & y.
i tried stretching it but its width and length is the same, can't properly put it in a specified area in my working space..
i found the problem of dimension when moving the whole object inclusive the dimension to any direction.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Dimension association to any existing object in my drawings. If i draw anything new in the same drawing this problem does not occur. The leaders are also associating themselevs to these objects.
When i select a line, no grips appear even though if i draw a new line they do.
-I have tried to use DIMDISASSOCIATE the dimensions from the objsect to no avail.
-I have tried changing the DIMASSOC variable but this didnt work.
-I have tried exporting the objects to new files but still the same problem, only with the objects from this drawing.
It seems to have made every object associative. The only thing i can think that caused this was i pasted in a drawing from a pre 2002 Autocad version.
How to draw this object?
I want to draw an object similar to the dimension that contains two arrowheads with TWO “text dimension” to indicate the range each “steel bar” covers. This is important to indicate the range the two bars cover with the same dimension object.
Have a look on the screenshot below . The file is attached.
I made the mistake that I came to measure my object as cm but inventor writes it's in as mm, is there a way where I can scale objectet up giving it the right size
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am unable to coax the Object Scale dialog box to appear. Typing OBJECTSCALE and invoking the Add/Delete Scales command via Annotate on the ribbon do nothing. I looked in the CUI and everything appears normal with the command and macro. I have attempted to see if the box was just off screen, but when I hit Alt+Spacebar, the main Autocad menu highlights, as if the Annotative Object Scale dialog box is not even open. I have lost dialog boxes off screen before, so I don't thing that is the issue. I have done a Repair and an update to the latest service pack.
I am running Autocad 2010 LT on a Windows 7 64-bit machine with 8MB memory. I have FILEDIA = 1, CMDDIA = 1, and ATTDIA = 1.
I have not done a complete reinstall due to the pain of updating all of my settings, but I guess that is a last resort if I cannot figure out how to get the dialog box to show up.
After using autocad for a while, I got some questions i'd like to ask.
1) In my line of work, I have to label the items I draw in every CAD file, multileader is a nice tool to have but how do I keep the styles I make so that it "transfers" over to a new CAD file?
I have to keep making a new style everytime I create a new drawing. I would like for the default style to stay after I edit it.
2) Is there a way or command that lets me scale an object to exact dimensions? For example, I have a 800 by 750 table in my block library, the size I need is 950 by 820, normally I would have to explode it then stretch it manually on the x and y axis, is there a way to scale it up to 950 by 820 through a command?
3) I don't know what I hit, but I can't seem to select multiple objects just by clicking on them anymore, I now have to hold down the SHIFT key. How do I revert this?
I am currently working on the drawing which I initially didnt have a template for (ie the border for the A1 page this drawing will be printed on) so off I went and started drawing using a scale of 1 drawing units = 1mm.
Now I have been given the border and the drawing I have comes no where near fitting on the sheet so I want to select all of the drawing and change the scale but I obviously don't want the dimensions to change. How can I achieve this?
I also need to know as there are certain parts of the drawings that need zoomed in views so all I want to do is copy the parts I have drawn and increase the scale but again keep the dimensions the same.
When I have placed dimensions in model space with a text height of 2.5 now do I get them to a readable size in paper space
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been looking through a ton of threads and can only find half an answer to what I'm looking for: When I draw in mm, I have to set the scale of the viewport to 1:30 or somewhere in that range. But in reality, the object that Im drawing isn't 1/30th of the size that it prints. How do I get the scale right to print the object at its actual size? cad 2013
