How Can i Get the distance between two base point of any two block in any UCS and WCS
View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently, I have the base or insertion point of some of my blocks in an undesirable spot and I would like to move it. When I insert a drawing or block I have difficulty in placement due to a poor choice in the drawing or block I am trying to insert.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of converting some static blocks to dynamic blocks. My procedure has been:
1) cut the drawing out of model space.
2) erase all
3) purge all
4) open the block editor and paste drawing in
5) set the base point to 0,0
But when I insert the block in another drawing the base point shifts. I have included the block (_beam.dwg) and the block inserted (dwg.dwg)
Why? I must be missing a setting, property or something.
The top view is the standard block with the base point as shown. This "Base Point" is the center of the rotating axis.
Issue: After rotating the "1st Point" then rotating the "2nd Point", the Center axis of the "1st Point" moves. Is it possible to perminetly have the "1st Point" rotating axis stay in its original location?
I'm inserting blocks into my drawing and the block has a basepoint and a 0,0,0 point. The CAD guy who usually works with me is off today but he has a keyboard method of switching between the 2 points when inserting the block.
Its a fairly straight forward thing on his keyboard, nothing he has set up but standard in autocad.
I've had a try hitting a few keyboard buttons this morning but can't seem to do it.
What I am trying to do is create a selection set of blocks with the same name. Then step through the selection set and if the block has an attribute "Tag" with a Specific "Value" then get the insert point.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI found this routine but It doesn't work really good (see attachment):
1. We can select block instead of typing the name of it (or simply add this option)
2. That the undo command undo the whole lsp routine instead of undoing all single insertion.
3. That we can Hit the escape key at any point in the routine and it stops the routine correctly instead of writing "too many argu" maybe by undoing the insertion or by stopping the routine correctly at this point.
4. I just found that it does not paste the block directly on the points...? Finally this lsp didn't work at all !
I would like to have a lsp that do SIMPLY this:
1 : Ask wich "points" you want to convert (You know these points that you can change the appearrance in the menu format point style, thats what I mean by "points"). And By the way it would be cool if I could choose to convert the points or to paste my block on those without converting them but it is not that important.
2. Select block in the block listing of insert block popup window and paste it by his default insertion point to all the selected points.
Infos: New blocks on current layer.
You have a dwg with multiple sets of different blocks and a circle you want to place on the insert point of each set blocks.
You select the circle then select one of the blocks in the set and the circle is placed on the insert point of each of the blocks in that set. It would save time from doing it manually and save on mistakes.
I have been using copy paste with base point on block from drawing to drawing but sometimes the block insert but it is not showing. I go to insert block is there but does not show in the drawing. Then tried to purge it and it does not let me because it is in the drawing but I can find it any where. Then I tried to do the insert block look for the block and inserted as a block and the same result.

If I insert the same block into the same file using Acad 2012 it comes in at the correct scale. Doesn't seem to matter if insunits is 0 or 1, or insunitsdefsource or insunitsdeftarget are also 0 or 1.
There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.

how to create valid insertation point from xx, yy and zz?
I have a block I am making into a Dynamic Block. I will be adding in different visibility states. Depending on the visibility state the block would need to be inserted from a different point.
My question is, is it possible to add multiple insertion points to a dynamic block so depending on the visibility state it defaults to the correct insertion point?
I am trying to set up our templete and I am having issues. I have set up description keys and such. When I import our survey data all comes in (ie blocks and linework). The problem is when I try to plot the block that are inserted on what appears to be the correct layer they do not plot out. When I freeze the point layer the block disappears as well. What setting am I missing that will create the blocks according to the description key and keep them on a separate layer like it did in Land Desktop but keep them dynamic? I am not sure if the subscription service covers.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI created a dynamic block with a polar stretch. I insert the block, then have to select the grip to rotate/stretch it. Can it be inserted and then rotated/stretched all in one action? The insertion point is at one of the line and the polar stretch grip is at the other end.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to insert a block at a point, with eastings and northings and an individual number.
For example.
Point 1 -459655,451702
Point 2 -459655,451702
Can I use a script for this, or something else using a .scr or .csv file?
I was wondering if it is possible to use dynamic blocks to stretch a rectangle evenly, using only 1 point? I have attached a PDF of a rectangle with 2 lines coming out of each side (before & after picture). I want to use dynamic blocks to pick a point at the top right of the block, so that when I pull it out, the lines will extend, but stay attached to the rectangle. I also what the rectangle to stay in the center at all times.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a interesting problem with Dynamic blocks that have been created in AutoCAD 2007. The issue that I have is with the anchor point that is set by AutoCAD when creating the block, and whether or not I can assign a different anchor point.
The block that has been created is a dynamic block to designate parcels, and contains the APN (Assessor's Parcel Number, which is hidden), Acreage, a circle, and a digit that displays within the circle. When the block is imported to a drawing, the anchor point itself is NW of the block itself (the distance varies by the scale being used), and I would like to have the anchor point at the south quadrant grip of the circle.
The anchor point poses no problems when being used in AutoCAD, but when the blocks are imported to GIS, the anchor point causes the blocks to snap to the anchor point, rather than where they are placed physically within the AutoCAD drawing. This is a fairly simple fix in GIS, which simply entails moving the highlighted points in to the proper position, but it is a step that I would like to eliminate.
I have attached a block for reference.
Where can I find the command to globally scale blocks by selecting them and it scales each block around its insertion point.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a block that has a portion that needs to rotate up to 90 degrees. The problem is that it has parallel lines that create a bowtie when rotating. I've tried everything with constraints to get this block to work, but I just can't keep it from creating a bowtie when rotating.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIn "test" mode, this block works well except for the point of the arrow. If you stretch the line under the title, then move the arrow point to somewhere else, then flip it, the arrow point and its associated grip needs to stay put.
It actually does, the first time. BUT then if you move the arrow point again and flip it again, it does not.
Then, when I inserted it into another drawing, either with "insert" or via SSM, the flip doesn't stick to the point even the first time.
So I guess my question is how to flip it but keep the point where it happens to be when the flip occurs. Like a multileader, because what I am actually trying to create here is a multileader that has an annotative block with attribute fields, to be used with SSM.
I have a drawing with a bunch of layers that cannot be deleted since they are nested in block definitions. However, the blocks are not in use and cannot be purged. I think it is because they are referenced for point styles, that are also not in use. Is there a way to delete the point style in order to clear these layers and blocks?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to add a point after the last point of a polyline. But this point really is the first point and the command insert vertex really insert a new point. So, a solution , reverse the polyline to insert points after the last vertex.

is it possible to create a block so that the base point is the only snap point on the block?
In other words supose I have a block of a simple rectangle with the base point in the center.
If I try to snap to the block, I will be able to snap to all the corners, but not the base point. I know that i can put a point at the base point, but can I turn off the snap to the corners (just for the block) in other words, have an object that is unsnapable to without turning the snap mode off.
i found this valuable script Lisp routine to insert blocks at point locations and want to modify it but i do not know much about lisp ...
what i want is :
1) script start and asks for a Block Name (in this case QPP1, QPP2, QS, QE, ect)
2) the user picks existing text
3) the script reads the value existing on this text an put it in a variable
4) then erases the pre picked text
5) inserts the block chosen
6) changes block value to number value pre-read
since it do almost all steps except for step 3 and 6
I would like to create an dynamic block to a level symbol, with a parameter that aligns the length of the line under the text with the text end.
I attached an jpg image with an example.
I thing the key element is to create an point that is attached to the end of the text and apply an stretch to it, but I didn't succeed.
I wish to create a dynamic block containing some attributes. These attributes are inside rectangles that can't be modified in length using linear parameters ; but the attribute has to be always in the middle of the rectangle. So, I draw a line inside the rectangle (in a hidden layer) and insert the attribute with center justification (not sure for the translation) that I place in the middle of this line ; then I put a coincidence constraint (not sure for the translation, but it's the first one) linking the middle of the line with the middle of the attribute.
But here's the problem : when stretching my rectangle, the insertion point of the attribute suddenly changes from "center" to "bottom left".
I have a dynamic block with several actions and parameters. There are three grip points. Two are visible. One appears when you move one of the other grips. If i insert or paste this block near my template, the X/Y basepoint stays near the template when i drag the block on the template with one of the other two grips.. When i print the drawing the basepoint stays visible and the scale on my printed drawing is not correct (smaller).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI write a program, this program needs to insert some standard illustrations. I made these standard illustrations into different blocks. And I store these blocks in a dwg file. Everytime I need to insert some illustrations, I just click the mouse on the current drawing, I want the illustration inserted. These means the following points:
(1) Import the blocks to the current drawing, if the blocks have already been imported, then do nothing.
(2) Specify the insert point by clicking the mouse, and I want the block's insert point to coincide with the mouse clicking point.
I am just trying to migrate from VBA to VB.net, I want to know, how we can manipulate the Ctrl+Shift+C, in vb.net, if it is not possible at all, then what is the best way I can find the alternate to this.
OR
If I try to use the wblockclone() then, how do I control the location of the objectcollection when I clone it in my new drawing.
in other words, when I in the proces of clonning I should be able to specify a base point.
