AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Rotate Parallel Lines Around Hinge Point

Nov 22, 2011

I have a block that has a portion that needs to rotate up to 90 degrees.  The problem is that it has parallel lines that create a bowtie when rotating.  I've tried everything with constraints to get this block to work, but I just can't keep it from creating a bowtie when rotating.

See attached DWG. Two offset arrows.

This works as long as it is not rotated, but distorts if rotated and then stretched.

I'm using ACAD2006.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Insertion Point On Dynamic Blocks

Apr 23, 2013

I have a block I am making into a Dynamic Block. I will be adding in different visibility states. Depending on the visibility state the block would need to be inserted from a different point.

My question is, is it possible to add multiple insertion points to a dynamic block so depending on the visibility state it defaults to the correct insertion point?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Insertion Point Of Attribute Changing Within Dynamic Block

Nov 21, 2011

I wish to create a dynamic block containing some attributes. These attributes are inside rectangles that can't be modified in length using linear parameters ; but the attribute has to be always in the middle of the rectangle. So, I draw a line inside the rectangle (in a hidden layer) and insert the attribute with center justification (not sure for the translation) that I place in the middle of this line ; then I put a coincidence constraint (not sure for the translation, but it's the first one) linking the middle of the line with the middle of the attribute.

But here's the problem : when stretching my rectangle, the insertion point of the attribute suddenly changes from "center" to "bottom left".

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Grip Point Dynamic Block

Nov 15, 2012

I have a dynamic block with several actions and parameters. There are three grip points. Two are visible. One appears when you move one of the other grips. If i insert or paste this block near my template, the X/Y basepoint stays near the template when i drag the block on the template with one of the other two grips.. When i print the drawing the basepoint stays visible and the scale on my printed drawing is not correct (smaller).

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Block Rotate At Insertion

Jul 30, 2011

I have a simple block, I would like to do the following:

Type: Insert

Specify: Block Name

Click spot with cursor to have the block placed

Rotate the block for orientation

I know that if I use the Tool Pallets I can specify rotate on insert, but do not always want to use the Pallete.  I also know I can assign a rotation parameter to the block so I can grip and rotate after insertion.  Is there an easier way?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Rotate Attribute 180 Degrees About Its Center?

Jul 11, 2011

Attached is a dynamic block for a civil grid tick.  It's my first time creating a dynamic block so it's probably not the most efficent use of the dynamic parameters etc.

I have it setup with 4 visibility states to allow the northing and easting attributes to "rotate" about the center of the grid tick, to give options for readablity and/or text overlap.

What I wanted to add was figure out how to make the individual attributes flip 180 degrees about a point (roughly the center of the attribute).  Again this would be for readability.

AutoCAD LT :: Auto Select Rotate Upon Placing Dynamic Blocks

Nov 13, 2012

At my last job, the CAD manager there had certain blocks which, upon insertion, automatically selected the rotate command. i.e., as soon as you click to place the block, it was free rotating.

I've search for the answer, but everything just tells me how to put the rotate command inside the dynamic block, but I don't know how to make it "auto-jump" to that immediately upon insertion.

as in the following sum

angle of rotated line = (fixed number/360) * length of linear line

AutoCad :: Dynamic Blocking Of Hinge

May 5, 2011

Say you have a dynamic block of a hinge, and you want to stretch it to the hight of a door. The dynamically blocked hinges have a base point, and a grip point. I place the base point at the bottom of the door, and stretch from the grip point to the top of the door, (so that there is a hinge on both the top & bottom of the door).

What i want, is for the array tool to automatically place another hinge in the center of the stretch, but only after the top hinge has stretched to/greater than 1000mm. I want this newly added hinge to stay in the center of my two hinges already in place (whenever the hinges are stretched higher or lower, the middle hinge moves to the center), and NOT add anymore hinges, 3 maximum.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Shifting Base Point

Mar 24, 2011

I am in the process of converting some static blocks to dynamic blocks.  My procedure has been:

1) cut the drawing out of model space.

2) erase all

3) purge all

4) open the block editor and paste drawing in

5) set the base point to 0,0

But when I insert the block in another drawing the base point shifts.  I have included the block (_beam.dwg) and the block inserted (dwg.dwg)

Why?  I must be missing a setting, property or something.

I also what the rectangle to stay in the center at all times.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Changing The Anchor Point

Sep 10, 2013

I have a interesting problem with Dynamic blocks that have been created in AutoCAD 2007.  The issue that I have is with the anchor point that is set by AutoCAD when creating the block, and whether or not I can assign a different anchor point.

The block that has been created is a dynamic block to designate parcels, and contains the APN (Assessor's Parcel Number, which is hidden), Acreage, a circle, and a digit that displays within the circle.  When the block is imported to a drawing, the anchor point itself is NW of the block itself (the distance varies by the scale being used), and I would like to have the anchor point at the south quadrant grip of the circle.

The anchor point poses no problems when being used in AutoCAD, but when the blocks are imported to GIS, the anchor point causes the blocks to snap to the anchor point, rather than where they are placed physically within the AutoCAD drawing.  This is a fairly simple fix in GIS, which simply entails moving the highlighted points in to the proper position, but it is a step that I would like to eliminate.

I have attached a block for reference.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: How To Keep One Stretched Point From Moving When Block Flips

Dec 27, 2012

In "test" mode, this block works well except for the point of the arrow. If you stretch the line under the title, then move the arrow point to somewhere else, then flip it, the arrow point and its associated grip needs to stay put.

It actually does, the first time. BUT then if you move the arrow point again and flip it again, it does not.

Then, when I inserted it into another drawing, either with "insert" or via SSM, the flip doesn't stick to the point even the first time.

So I guess my question is how to flip it but keep the point where it happens to be when the flip occurs. Like a multileader, because what I am actually trying to create here is a multileader that has an annotative block with attribute fields, to be used with SSM.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Stretching Multiple Lines By A Different Amount

Oct 18, 2012

I'm looking at a block which has multiple visibility states, 2 of which show a beam as a side elevation, where the beam can be stretched to give a length. This works well.

But I'd like to be able to have the beam stretching so the bottom flange of the beam can stretch relative to the top to give an angle to the beam end, and also have the lines representing the flanges (whose position will vary depending on the steel size) can also be stretched to give a neat cutoff.

Stretching the bottom of the bottom flange is easy, but I can't figure out how to stretch the inner lines? They would have to be moved a proportion of the distance which will vary between beam sizes/flange thicknesses, so putting in a fixed multiplication factor won't work. The mathematics to set a multiplication factor based on other elements of the dynamic block is easy, but is it possible to have such implemented on a varying basis?

Elevation showing what I want to do, and the block itself attached.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Annotative Parameters Inside Dynamic Blocks

May 5, 2010

I've made annotative blocks and I've made dynamic blocks... My intent is to integrate both but I can't find a way to move dynamic block parameters separately at different annotative scales.

In other words, if I insert an annotative dimension and add multiple scales I can move the dimension grips independently at each scale. If I insert a dynamic block I want to be able to use the dynamic block's action "grips" to do the same. However, with a dynamic block, if I move a stretch action at one annotation scale it moves the action at all annotation scales.

The attached file shows a simple example.

It would be great if I could create the text with a rotation of 0, align my ucs to the object to be labeled and then with a single click, select the text making it parallel to the X axis.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Adding One Action To Dynamic Blocks

Mar 15, 2012

I have created a dynamic block with several visiblility states. The block works great for what I need it for. however, I am trying to add one more action to the block but am having issues.

This block is essentially a 24" retail cabinet with the visibility states showing the different drawer and shelf configurations. I want to be able to lengthen the cabinet in 24" increments and have the visibility show for each 24" section.....e.g.  I want a 10' cabinet so I bring in the 24" starter block. Then stretch the cabinet to the 10' mark, then I can chose any drawer/shelve config for each 24" section (they are all different).

I can get the block to stretch in 24" sections....no problem.....i just want the visibility state to be duplicated as well for each section. Now as it stretches, there is only one Vis state and it only populates the first cabinet.

I could do this by copying the block over and over 5 times.....but I am hoping there is a way to make this dynamic.
