I am working on a project and figuring out a way to fill a concave space I have with a seperate solid that takes up the exact amount of space. I would like for this new solid to be its own part. I will post a picture so you can understand what I am reffering to. As you can see, there is a concave space in the middle of the design; what I am looking to do is fill this area with a type of foam, so I need to model something that fills all the spaces up to the top plane.
I have tried using the thicken/offset tool but it gives me errors on vertexs and such and I have tried many different selection variants. I did get the space to fill in but then ran into the problem of it being all one solid, not something I could take out and make a different part, which is what I am looking to do.
I need to make a rack for a machine I am designing. We use a variation of this now but I need to change the rack we have always used. The rack is on a radius and the teeth are on the inside of said radius. I plan on using the same tooth profile that we are currently using but i was wondering if there was an easy way to pattern this.
For my job here I have a contoured map of a sand structure. I have converted that entire 2D map into a 3D map. Showing the elevation of the contours relative to the surface. I need to know how you can hatch or fill in with color the 3d polygons that are shaping the subsurface. When i try to hatch it, it works but it just pastes it at the surface at Z:0 and even if i bring that hatch down it won't form to the multidimensional polygon that i am trying to cover. Here is a pic of what I am trying to do.
The green / blue is the fault plane i have been able to plot as well as shade in using 3D Face, but the problem I run into for the RED contour lines is that they are arcs and when i use 3D Face it doesn't allow it to bend to conform with the arc shape.
Okay, so it's been a while since I've done one of these, and I haven't done one on 2014 at all yet.
I've got a fairly simple part, it's about 6" long x 3" wide, less than 3/8" thick, without a whole lot of complex geometry to work with. I've built up my whole mold for it, and that went okay, but the fill analysis seems like it's taking forever. Like hours. It gets to the "Fill" stage, gets just a sliver of green on the progress bar, and then sits.
Last time I tried this was on my workstation at the office, using 2013. It didn't take nearly this long, and the part was much larger and far more complex, with a significantly slower computer.
Is something broken with this in 2014? I guess I can just let it run overnight, see what happens in the morning ...

a)) I have a simple drawing attached with color outlines. How do i fill in the shapes with color. The blue outline filled in Blue and the red outline filled in Red
b)) How do i set the drawing space so as it fits to a A4 size paper?
i have an image, roughly human shaped, rendered in hundreds of tiny circles. how can i make a separate outline of the whole image, so that i can then fill it with white? i want to be able to put the original image on a black BG but have the empty space between the circles show up as white.
I am just starting to learn Illustrator and am having an issue with filling an object. I am creating a box and when I fill that box the top acts as if there is a straight path even though there isn't. Also the right side of the box cuts only fills diagonally. One with the paths, two with the incomplete fill.
About 40% of the time, the REVCLOUD command will finish the cloud as concave. It will start correctly and be correct the entire time I am surrounding an area on my drawing and then when the last arc joins the starting point the entire cloud become inverted. Why? Is there something I can do to make it not do this? I don't seem to have any control over how it finishes. When it completes backwards, I fix it using PEDIT > Decurve then I convert the Polyline into a cloud and it appears correctly. Is there a better way?
I am trying to fill the blank space (center) in this header with the existing background, how do i go about copying and pasting the red area into the blank area.
So I am trying to use "fill hole" for this empty space on my mesh but it isn't working. I know I can figure out another solution to this problem but I want to know why it won't work.
First of all, when I double click the edge around the hole it doesn't just select the hole, it selects a huge ring that goes around the whole head for some reason (I'm attaching a picture).
Then when I select the edges around the hole one by one and select "fill hole" nothing happens and I get a message at the bottom of the screen that says "polycloseborder2" (I am also including a pic of this).
My problem is we need to have the lettering on the concave side of the sign. How would I make the flat lettering I have in the elevation shot follow the curve of the sign in the plan view?
I usually do most of my autocad drawing in 2d, I've done a few things in 3d but I'm not that experienced. I say that because I was thinking maybe I could make a 3d model of the flat elevation shot and bend it into radius I need.
I have been away from Autocad for around 6 years but just got back into it this week and now have the 2010 version.I like the "arctext" command, but it will only let me do text on convex curves and I need it to do text on concave curves for a sign I want to make..What can I do?
In Coreldraw 12, I often use combine to end up with a one solid shape with many holes in it. Often I want to add a color inside one of the holes, much like a coloring book, but there is no shape there, it is just empty. What is the quickest way to create a solid that fills that hole exactly?
My question concenrs this photo: [URL] ... (this is my own photo by the way). Just so you know what I mean with 'sky' later on: you're looking at balconies.
I want to extend it on the left so I can make it a desktop wallpaper. However, the original photo does not extend far enough to allow me to just crop differently. How can I, using GIMP, fill up the new space so that it looks like the sky that's already there?
When applying a linetype to a curved line (e.g. polyline, arc, circle), the direction of the linetype reverses at every change from convex to concave. The error does not occur with straight segments. The REVERSE command does not work, because it will change the direction of the entire polyline. In fact, the reverse command does not even recognize and arc.
I'm modelling a pen, the problem is that its bottom is not flat, it is a section of a sphere, that goes inside the pen, I've tried soft selection, relax, but I can't make the shape, I could use booleans to cut the sphere out of the model, but I' avoiding booleans because they destroy the topology.
I'd like to make a texture thats got a 3d qualities (different surface depths) to appear in reverse. like an image of soap suds on a window seen from the other side: the concave bubbles would appear convex. are there any plugins for this sort of thing on Paintnet?
I am trying to export geometry found in a flat pattern sketch overlaid onto the flat pattern.
Since I am creating the output file manually I gather the flat pattern boundaries and bend center lines for output to a file.
When I add flat pattern sketch entities to the mix they do not overlay properly. What matrix would I have to push the sketch entities through to get them to the same coordinates as the flat pattern?
So I am have been working on this model and am 90% complete and am back to where I started initially. Best technique to model the round foot with the concave design that seems to wrap around the foot (Highlighted area). I have tried a number of ways and have ran into problems such as pinching around the corners, the mesh overflowing over the top of the corners and hard edges that dont seem to want to be softened, but now I am picking the expert brains as far as a technique that might be better suited.
Is it possible to fill a shell with sand? The end use of my design will have sand - like in a childs plasitc basketball hoop/stand assembly and I would like to try to approximate the center of gravity and other useful info.
I am trying to delete fill from a sketch I have done on a drawing. (See attached). Unfortunately I cannot find any way to delete without deleting the whole sketch. I tried as Inventor said to go into Annotate Ribbon and change Layer & Style but both these dropdowns show blank when I try that. I also tried going into Fill/Hatch again hoping the new one would overwrite the old one but no success.
I am currently having trouble viewing welds on drawing views. The outer line of the weld is visible but there is no fill or hatching. I have tried to edit visibility settings, etc and nothing works. Also note that other welds show up and that all the physical welds do show up on the assembly models.
My goal is to use basic ilogic to fill in some of the standard iproperty fields from parameters.I have so far managed to populate the description iproperty with one value from the parameters using this ilogic code;
where length is a user parameter.Want I would like to do is build on this to include more parameters such as material thickness, width and depth etc so the resulting iproperty description field would read something like
1.2mm SS 50x100 @3000
How do I go about writing the ilogic string to include multiple values and end up filling in the one description field?
Any command to fill in a little gap of missing material when you extrude one surface at the angle to the other. It's easy when it's a flat surface to just extrude in the othe direction, but with 3D loft it's not as much fun. See pic attached.
Somehow, in sketch mode, under the draw panel, I have lost the Hatch/Fill command. I've spent several hours searching, and cannot find a way to get it back.
Using Inventor 2013 and having issues with the fill/hatch region feature. I inserted my company logo on our custom border i am making and need to fill the logo in with colors to match our autocad verison borders. I go to click on fill/hatch region button and it doesnt do nothing and wont let me do nothing.
