I have a 3D drawing in model space which I want to print with different views. I know how to make viewports for top orthographic view, side, front and 3D perspective view, but I can't figure out how to make a sectional view viewport from the 3D drawing as well.
Also, I can't figure out how to have autocad place hidden lines and centerlines for me.
how do I transfer model space drawing into paper space ?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble scaling my drawing between model space and paper space. I have it drawn in model space at 1:1, and I set the viewport scale in paperspace to 1:15. However, it does not show up as 1:15. I have drawn a 50' line in model space. The viewport is 4" wide in paperspace, so you should be able to see the whole line in the viewport at a 1:15 scale, with some space on each side. However, it does not. I can only see a small fraction of the line.
View 8 Replies View RelatedPaper space was just introduced the last time I used AutoCAD professionally. I didn't become familiar with it and it seemed like an unfathomable concept then; at least from the way it was explained to me.
So I did some drawing for this guy all in paper space...that was what first opened up in AutoCAD. After five hours and getting ready to send the files, I realize that maybe I should a done it in model space. Is it really going to make that much of a difference? If he wanted me to redo it in model space .
I am able to get the drawing extents in the database but just fine except that when I draw objects in paper space and the extents decrease the properties Pextmax and Pextmin do not change accordingly. When I make objects larger everything is fine, I capture the change just fine. Where else to look or if there is a method to update this properly?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to utilize ACD-LT 2010 to auto fill paper space templates. Recently working with some co-workers with Inventor they have the ability to define drawing attributes which are designated in text at pre-defined points...
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME if i can define attributes that would fill all paper space "Drafted By:" "Approved By:" "Project:" "Model:" .... so on and so forth...
how to utilize custom applied Attributes in a Text field, mtext doesn't matter..
Otherwise, I was playing with exporting, allot of programs will use such code like XML in the background that i can export to and build a script to auto generate code via Excel. Is there an alternate for export than WMF? Using excel to import large amounts of data?
I have used Excel to import a Parabola equation through line command which according to some ME's at the office was impossible when they researched doing it online but i dont know various commands to add text boxes, define quardinates, and text values.

I'm having trouble inserting a jpeg to a drawing in paper space.
I've set up an 8.5 x11paper space layout in one file and would now like to transfer it into another drawing file.
What is the best way of doing this?
I am using autocad 2011..I have a problem with printing to scale.I have completed a drawing in model space with a 1:1 ratio, all my units are in mm.I have created 3 different view ports in paper space to show different aspects of my drawing, each view port has a different scale.
The whole drawing is to be printed on A2 size paper.
My main viewport (which contains the primary aspect of my drawing) is to be drawn to scale. When I click on this view port Autocad states that has a scale of 0.008583 – what does this mean? See picture 1..When I print the document the scale is set to 1 inches = 25.4.
All I want to do is print my drawing so that it fits onto an A2 page, but the main view port is to be printed to a scale. I want to scale to be sensible some like 1 in 200 or 1 in 50 etc so that other people can use a ruler to work out the real life dimension.
I'm using mm, and i want to create a custom scale which is not in the list of my standard scale in the viewport properties. If i want 1/200 for example and this is not in the list how do i set the custom scale?
View 4 Replies View Relatedhow can i rotate a drawing view in model space and paper space? UCS -> new -> 3 point -> and saving the view works, but trying to figure out how to do this with paper space now. My purpose if for pulling construction lines from plans, for elevations. In the past I simply rotated the drawing, but if i had a layer turned off it would mess up their positioning.

how I can get back into model space and do some work?
I've run into a small problem while trying to export a drawing from paper space as a PDF. The drawing is of an electrical panel for a product. The panel is rather large, but the drawing includes some smaller details, such as a vendor logo on a component or a few extra lines on the border of a display screen. We have a large, multi page PDF file that uses A4 paper size that I need to insert this drawing into, so the export must be at this size. When exporting, I have CAD set to use monochrome and ignore the line weights, which solved my initial problem that the parts would show up as solid black splotches.
Now that the back story is over, here's the problem. When I export the pdf, everything looks great except these small details around the components. For some reason, the lines in the components will shift to one side or the other, causing breaks between features. Most of these breaks occur between an arc endpoint and a line endpoint. The export also excludes some smaller bits of geometry.
Is there any way to copy a viewport that includes model space and paper space at the same time to another drawing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy question concenrs this photo: [URL] ... (this is my own photo by the way). Just so you know what I mean with 'sky' later on: you're looking at balconies.
I want to extend it on the left so I can make it a desktop wallpaper. However, the original photo does not extend far enough to allow me to just crop differently. How can I, using GIMP, fill up the new space so that it looks like the sky that's already there?
I have GIMP for Mac version 2.8.3.
Is it possible within the drawing to have model space and paper space displayed side-by-side like two vertical split screen viewports?

In 2012 Autocad, cannot change from model space to paper space, or paper space to model space without locking up in several drawings.
I can log into another user's computer and open the file fine. But when i use my computer or a brand new computer fitting all Auto CAD specs, it locks up. When I plot I have to reset my settings to the PTE standards every time.
I now get CAD errors when CAD is not even open. Also VTPSUHM barely works. I generally have to restart my computer several times to get it to work.
Lisp that would permit Toggling from Paper Space into the same zoomed area within Model Space and vice versa.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a landscape architect trying to xref in civil backgrounds. I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a block that reads the x and y coordinates of a point from the end of a leader. Which is fine and easy enough if I use the block in the same space.. ie model space or paper space (layout tab).
However I wan't to be able to capture the coordinate from the model space, through the viewport, and pass it onto the block in Paper Space. Is this possible?
Or is it a case of having to use a more LISP based approach?
I'm running ACAD LT 2013.
I have a solid hatch that is in model space (actually in an xref in model space). When I use multileaders (in paper space) and point into the hatched area, that part of the multileader becomes hidden. As if it was a layering or object arrangement issue.
is there a way to COPY objects from model space to paper space? CHSPACE only "cuts" geometry. I need the same geometry stacked in both model space and paper space.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI feel like I have a vague memory of once learning how to click on an object in a viewport and being able to click a button or use a command to switch that object to paper space (so that it appears the same size). I'm trying to avoid having to go through the steps to scale down the object once I get it in paper space).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several viewports rotated in paper space. When i set them to let say 1:100 scale go to paper space and then click into viewport it comes back to zoom extends of model space and i have to set it all up again and rotate it.
Second problem is that I've created wipeout in model space when i go to layout (paper space) ti looks just how i want it.
When I go to preview or plot it doesn't recognise any wipeouts?
I need to have users plot to DWF from paper space so they can retain their customized layers colors etc, on that specific paper space tab, as well as the view via viewport that they like most.
I then am mixing this with FDO data generated out of Model space. Unfortunately, when using the EXPORTLAYOUT command, the data is coped into Model space but seems to retain it's paper space coordinates. I had hoped this function would behave like CHSPACE and copy everything from paper to model space in the same scale.
Is there a way for me to achieve this?
