Jun 8, 2007I am working on a set of architectural drawings, and so far I got about 12 sheets (each sheet is on a paper space layout) of details. I am using AutoCad 2005LT. The text is in paper space and all the drawings in model space. I have to move some details from one layout to another. When I copy the viewport with text to different layout the items in model space don't show off . Is there a way to copy text in paper space along with detail in model space at the same time to a different layout?

Apr 30, 2012I am having trouble scaling my drawing between model space and paper space. I have it drawn in model space at 1:1, and I set the viewport scale in paperspace to 1:15. However, it does not show up as 1:15. I have drawn a 50' line in model space. The viewport is 4" wide in paperspace, so you should be able to see the whole line in the viewport at a 1:15 scale, with some space on each side. However, it does not. I can only see a small fraction of the line.

I can log into another user's computer and open the file fine. But when i use my computer or a brand new computer fitting all Auto CAD specs, it locks up. When I plot I have to reset my settings to the PTE standards every time.
I now get CAD errors when CAD is not even open. Also VTPSUHM barely works. I generally have to restart my computer several times to get it to work.

Oct 25, 2013I'm having an issue in 2014 with switching between model and paper space. It takes 4-to-5 seconds for me to begin working in these spaces, after switching. Going between tabs is not an issue, it's just switching between model and paper space that causes the lag.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Fields In Model Space To Paper Space?
May 2, 2012determine if Fields can be used in model space inside a block and show up in the paper space view as a correct number, (say for a detail number)? I have all of my detail blocks in model space and would like to place fields in the title blocks of the details so that they would show the paper space sheet number that they are being shown on in paper space. I have done some experimenting and cannot seem to get it to work. Or will this just not work?
1.- Details in model space are blocks, and I want to edit the block and insert a field into the detail callout.
2.- I want to have the model space detail read the paper space drawing number, and have the fields change to the proper sheet number.
3.- The result will be the that the model space block fields have changed to the proper detail sheet number shown on the paper space border.

Mar 15, 2012I have a drawing that has several Paper Space tabs, and each tab has one or more viewports.
When I open the drawing, I can see all the information in Paper Space mode, and I can access the Model Space through the viewports, using the MS command. When I switch to Model Space, nothing is displayed.

Mar 13, 2012So I just recieved drawings from a contractor and they placed all the multileaders and details on the paper space but when I go to change the model space things are no longer pointing at the right spot.
What I am trying to do is copy them into model space but.... when I use crtl-c from paper, crtl-v to model it doesn't scale properly.

Jun 21, 2011Paper space was just introduced the last time I used AutoCAD professionally. I didn't become familiar with it and it seemed like an unfathomable concept then; at least from the way it was explained to me.
So I did some drawing for this guy all in paper space...that was what first opened up in AutoCAD. After five hours and getting ready to send the files, I realize that maybe I should a done it in model space. Is it really going to make that much of a difference? If he wanted me to redo it in model space .

Nov 9, 2013in general, I add my multileaders in paperspace after I have set my model space scale. However, I am now bound to that scale! That is, ML in paperspace really only have one scale: 1-1, right? For example, I wanted to zoom in to a part of my project (ie, reduced my scale by a 1/3) and all my ML we pointing erroniously into space.
Just so I undestand, if one anticipates changing the scale of a drawing mid-project, the ML should be made annotative, and placed in model space?

Aug 16, 2012I received a drawing form a vendor that is in 3d (27 meg)...this drawing contains the model and 4 paper space sheets.
These sheets contain different pieces of the 3d model. I need to create four 2d drawings (one for each sheet). I have tried "export layout to model" with no luck as most of the drawing does not export. I have tried to copy to clipboard but, drawing is too large for the clipboard. I have looked in the "help" and there seems to be nothing on converting a 3d drawing to a 2d drawing or extracting indivigual sheets to a 2d format model. I have tried exploding the information on the sheets in order to get everything to export but that doesn"t work.

Apr 24, 2013I've picked up someon elses drawings and for some reason in paperspace the ltscale is set to 10. i've tried changing the global scale factor to 1 in the linetype manager but it keeps changing back to 10 when i tab through the different sheets.
i normally have both my ltscale and psltscale set to 1 in paper space (and celtscale=1) and have a custom macro asigned to a button for my modelspace views ie 1.100,20,10 etc and a macro/button setting the ltscale back to 1 when returning to paperspace and this worked nicely.
why the global scale factor keeps reverting back to 10?

Mar 28, 2012how can i rotate a drawing view in model space and paper space? UCS -> new -> 3 point -> and saving the view works, but trying to figure out how to do this with paper space now. My purpose if for pulling construction lines from plans, for elevations. In the past I simply rotated the drawing, but if i had a layer turned off it would mess up their positioning.

Feb 10, 2012i am haveing trouble with a viewport that is hiding everything that crosses the rectangular border. The viewport is acting just like a wipeout would. I got this drawing from a client and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. I checked to see if there was actually a frame with the viewport but when I select the viewport it only reads as one object.

May 10, 2013Is it possible to have model space geometry print through a watermark in the layout? My watermark consists of mtext with an arial font placed manually in the layout. It is on it's own layer which is set to print at Shade 40 (plot style tables). Draworder works with other layout objects but not the geometry from the model space viewport. My watermark covers the model space geometry so it is not visible when printed. Is this possible?

Mar 22, 2012I am a landscape architect trying to xref in civil backgrounds. I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.
