Im a new user of Autodesk Inventor, working in a semi automation company, supplying conveyors and other related customized equipment. how to animate conveyor flow. attached is my file. a box and a conveyor line with straight, curve and spiral path. by self study I learned a lot of animation but this time I'm having problem because it's a combination of curve and spiral
I am trying to animate a mass production plant where objects move along conveyor belts.
When I apply pathdeform modifier to a single object with defined curved spline, there's no problem with the animation. But when I attach multiple objects to form single polygon the deformation path messes up.Objects astray from their initial positions before attaching.
I'm trying to create a simplied part of a conveyor. It's not too big yet, just over 7000 occurrences - see attached. Yesterday after about 5 hours I crashed Inventor (2014) and tried again. Eventually I let my PC run through the night and this morning it had completed the task. To save took almost 2 hours, producing an *.IPT of just over 830MB. When I restarted my machine (to free the RAM again) I could not open, getting a serious error.
The old shrinkwraps seemed to work way better. I need to create a "dummy" model which breaks all links to the originals assemblies so no one can tamper with it.
My specs:Inventor Professional 2014, 64 bit edition, I've got an HP Z400 desktop which is a 3.2GHz Processor with 4 cores, 12 GB RAM. NVIDIA Quadro 4000 graphics card.
I made an animation of a small prototype engine I am designing (attached as video 3) and I would like to be able to show fluid flowing in from the injector and into the cylinder, through the dumbbell valve and out the bottom, autodesk inventor does not seem to have this capability and its looking like my only option is to learn 3ds max and rebuild my animation in that.
I have attached a zip file of the engine assembly and its components, I couldn't attach one component because it's too big so I hope everything will still work without it, I'm hoping to show gas flow starting at the injector, into the cylinder, through the dumbell valve on the piston and out the bottom of the cylinder, if there is any way to do it in autodesk I'm willing to try as I just don't have a good enough grasp of 3dsMax yet.
I want to animate air flow in aircraft engine (see the file attached. It was captured from [URL]). Is that possible to create such animation it in Inventor? If cannot, what software can do that?
Designing conveyor or assembly lines in autocad? I know there is Factory layout, but my boss will not pay for the extra softwar. She wants me to get them done with AutoCAD. Im not new to CAD, but she needed me to move to working with line layouts. Also what sites and literature can i study to begin to understand the layout process. Im not talking about 3D tools or part design, its all 2D. Im also looking for the in's and out's of laying out a line for food and bottle product lines. Im thinking the equipment will be a block and possibly being dynamic blocks so that i can lengthen and shorten the parts to fit the space.
we have simple assemblies with bolted weldments and few misc. parts. most assemblies are 3-20 parts a typical project would have:
-a few laser cut parts, some plastic and hardware. these items need to have part drawings sent to a vendor.
-some in house cretaed parts that need a drawing
-assembly drawing for our shop
i think i am seeing that by having one single IDW its getting hard to send all the drawings to the people that need them. an example would be if a vendor calls about one part, i may send him a 4 page PDF and tell him to look on sheet 2.the other issue that i have is that my standard work flow is:
-design a product
-hand of to another dept for them to enter SKU numbers for parts and assemblies.
so my file names never match what the final product name is. i have been using fields in the iPROP, but it would be nice to revise file names when SKUs are created. im guessing vault would be the tool for something like that?
I am currently working on a template for a belt conveyor, everything works fine, except for one small detail. I have flip states to relocate the drive. The issues im having is IF the drive is flipped before the width of the table is set, the drive does not end up in the proper place.
I have the mirror lines for the flip states stay centered on the table. I know what needs to be done, which is allow the drives to be stretched only when they are in certain locations. Im just not sure how to do this.
Attached is the file. I am currently using AutoCAD 2009 (this would be much easier with Parametric Constraints) (The block needing work is "Drive Table")
We have a waterjet and machine shop at my place of employment, and currently my work flow is to draw the parts. Then for parts that need material left for machining I create a new part and using the derive tool I place my base part which I then apply extrusions to fill the holes and use thicken to add material to the surfaces that need machining.
How to create a revolve surface in an assembly for the purpose of measuring a flow area through a specific area? See the attached JPG, I basically have a conical internal diameter with a pin protruding into it..... I need to measure the flow area as shown in the sketch attached here. the way I have this shown in the attached JPG is the way that we had previously performed this in Pro-e.
I have a client that wants to put in a constant flow into an inlet and have SSA calculate the HGL downstream of that (as well as add additional flows at additional inlets). Is there a way to do this? I tried adding an "Initial flow" to a pipe but after running the analysis, that flow wasn't the peak of the pipe (I used 1cfs for the initial flow and the peak was 0.77 cfs).
I would like to be able to show an animation of a flat plate of material converging into a half hollow sphere (like a bowl). Its easy to model the beginning and end stae, but I do not know how to show it transitioning from one to the other.
How to do this? I need it for a presentation to convey a design concept.
Is it possible to animate the Grounded function? I want the box (In the assembly that I attached) to walk through a line of stations, each one of them with a specific purpose, in a factory where the "solar collector" is being built.I am unable to switch between who's gonna be grounded during the animation, but maybe there's another way to do it?
I like the new(ish) feature where you can drag a section plane through a component, but is it possible to program a moving section and record it to an avi file? Is this something I can do in 3ds, Studio or Showcase? IV2013
I havent used inventor studio for animation too much. The question I have is why cant I animate a component in a subassembly? I can animate the parts in the assembly, but not any parts that are in a subassembly. Is this how it has always worked or just a 2013 thing. If it is suppose to be like this, I think it is ridiculous and pointless to have this feature. now I have to place all the moving part into the main assembly.

I am modeling an existing storm system that is under capacity. After running the model, some of the flows seem to be incorrect. I have one section that has a known flow of 1.31 cfs. The results for this pipe section shows 28.82 cfs (peak flow during analysis) and 6.06 cfs (design flow capacity). The pipe section is a 15" with constructed slope of 0.0088 ft/ft. The max velocity attained is 23.48 ft/sec. I know that the downstream is undersized. Could this flow rate be caused by the downstream backflows? The model is setup as hydrodynamic and rational method. My inertial terms are set at ignore, time step = 0, junction surface area = 0 and variable time step with safety factor 75%. I have gutter bypass flows and my sag structures have ponded area set at 100.
I have utilized the "old school" Flow Line Lintetype (with the ARROW that is never really centered) for many years
I have been trying to acquire the preferred FlowLine Arrow Linetype (complex with the arrow shape)
So far, I have not succeeded. What is the easiest way to obtain/create this preferred linetype ? (arrow directions change with the direction of the polyline)....
I work at a metal fab plant as far as drawing im learning here is my problem i can draw a part save it as a dxf file but when i load it onto flow path instead of a soild cut line it a broken line.
I am have a model of a scoop that I would like to animate to show motion and check for interference and clearance.I was told by a friend the best way to create and assembly is to create it as it would be built.
Doing this, I created the cylinders and added to them to the main assembly as an assembly, but I am having trouble controlling movement. I checked off flexible for each cylinder but using the mouse to try and position the scoop bucket and front frame is undesirable. I know I could apply mate constraints to check for clearances and movements, But seeing the scoop move in a regulated motion would be need. Could possibly be used for marketing purposes as well.
Is using dynamic simulation or studio better? I have heard good things about the Wasim Younis Series - book
Does his books get into how a model should be assembled/created before trying simulations? The boom moves off yellow cylinder and the bucket moves off the red cylinderA 4 way joystick controls this movement (hydraulically), is it possible to simulate a joystick to control this animation?
The blue cylinder is controlled by a 2 way valve, that steers the front frame.I know uploading a model is the best way to get fast accurate solutions, however this model is currently over 200 parts, so I figured a .DWF export was the easiest way to give you a visual representation.
1.) How do you recommend I model a rectangular spring? 2.) How do I apply the concept from the initial question and apply a curve to the spring? 3.) How do I mimic the properties of a spring in animation?
I am trying to animate a couple slides in to show their motion. I setup each different position in a positional rep in my iam. They work correctly. Next I went to Studio and created an animation that went from one PR to the next. I am using the sequence like PR "A" to "B", then PR "B" to "C", then PR "C" to "D".
The trouble is in studio it does not work like it does in the assembly. Watch both videos to see what I mean. It is difficult to explain without being lengthy.
The video shown here is what I am trying to show in Studio. See the reply to this message to see my clip taken from Studio.
I have two gears. In the assembly I have them setup to mesh correctly. I can drive the constraint on the pinion and the gear will follow it (some what). I wanted a better video of it, so I went into Studio. Now when I drive the constaint like before on the pinion, the gear goes crazy.

There is a rotational translation constraint set between the pair (= to inverse of gear ratio) that works in the iam, but it is like Studion ignores it. How can I animate this to show the gear mesh?
where the setting is to reverse the flow of a pipe. I have the flow arrow shown in the wrong direction plus am showing a negative slope on a pipe, which should never be done.
I have a huge subdivision that we are about to do in civil 3d. The subdivision has over 1800 lots. I am wondering what is the best way to go about this. At the moment we are thinking we have to do the alignments, profiles and corridors all in one design drawing for it all to be dynamic? If so this file is going to be huge. Is there a way we can split it up and still keep everything dynamic?
