View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project involving 3 programs. I am creating a planned development in 3d to be 3d printed when finished. The project is a 5 acre tract containing 8 buildings. I have built the surface in C3D and each building in Revit. The buildings are not in the same Revit file. For my solid work, I will bring the files over into 3ds Max Design to section into smaller quadrants to build in the 3d printer.
The questions:
Would it be better to import the surface into Revit to merge surface and buildings together?
Would it be better to import the buildings into C3D to merge entities?
Would it be better to bring those entities into 3ds Max and then merge them into one? Will 3ds Max Design allow me to insert entities accurately in the environment?
I am currently using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 for surveying work and have been trying to figure out how to use part of an existing survey of land model. I have it in a layout (paper space) and used a viewport to get the section I am after but there are some changes in labeling and minor model modifications needed to make it a stand alone model and I do not want to modify the original model to make these changes. How can I take a section like I have in view port and make it into its own model with a different scale so the changes can be made and the original model is left in tact?
View 7 Replies View RelatedCIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with getting an Inventor model into Revit. It's not the import of the model that's the problem, but the way the model displays in Revit. (It displays fine in AutoCAD, 3ds max etc - just not Revit.)
Here's the part file - it's just a simple box with a couple of split-face features on it to generate a pattern.
If I take the model into Revit, I can only see the pattern if I select the object.
Deselect the object and the pattern vanishes. Here's an unselected/selected screenshot from Revit:

Some time ago, I used Adobe Reader (the basic one) to view and rotate a 3D model from Autocad. Yes, I know that I can export a Revit model into a DWFX and view it in Design Review, but that requires a ferr Design Review download. Some clients don't have administrator rights, are too lazy, don't have the computer savy to install, etc..., so a PDF 3D model would be nice.
---Is this possible with Revit?
---Is this possible with Autocad?
I have Adobe X Pro where I can enable this if Revit and CAD have the ability to print a 3D PDF.
Using Storm and Sanitary Analysis from a wastewater industry model? I have been looking into that but have run into a problem regarding units (using metric units). When importing data from wastewater industry model into SSA it assumes that pipe dimensions are given in meters and subbasins area are given in ha. My data is in mm and sqr.m.
Can I define what units to use when importing this data??
If I import GIS data (shp files) I can define what units the data is in.
Using 2013 versions of Map and SSA.
I am trying to work on a previous file in my office, and when it opens on mycomputer, it does not display as it should.
In general, the purpose of the project is to reinstate the side slopes of a road abutting a river. Cut & fill sections have been generated on 20m station increments along the road corridor/surfaces in order to calulate cut and fill as well as to reference the design to flood levels.
When I open the file, all of these sections (and there are alot) have relocated themselves to various locations in model space, none of which are aligned with the viewports that are being used for printing.
Could it be software and/or hardware incompatibility with the computer they were originally created on? (I believe it was created with C3D 2010, or C3D 2011 - I am currently running 2012)

I'm currently working on a project that requires modelling in revit but exporting the final drawings in Autocad format. As a requirement from my client, I am demanded to export the entire paper space into the model space as Autocad entities.
When I export the drawing, the composition that I model in Revit is shown in the paper space, Is there a way to automatically export this composition into the model space?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem importing a JT model I have. The model comes in however it loses all of it's smoothing groups when it's imported and alot of the vertices are not welded. The importer doesn't have any settings for keeping smoothing properties, and it also doesn't have an option for Welding verts. The verts all right on top of eachother. In the DirectConnect text that I get after importing my object I have the following settings.
JT import options:
wantAllLODs true
wantMeshes 2
wantBreps true
wantCurves true
wantCoordinateSystems false
wantProperties false
wantExplodeAssembly false
wantDeleteDegenAssem false
wantMergeVertices false
I can change the top settings, at import, where they are set to true, but is there a way to keep the face smoothing groups and make sure verts are welded?
I'd like to be able to import a 3d model into illustrator, like PS now does, sort of what (i believe) 3D-Tiger used to do (now defunct). Basically I would like to have the ability to use the model to arrange perspective and such, then create a 2d vector image for further use. Possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI probably changed a setting in Maya 2010 and did not know the bigger implications. How to reset maya's viewport settings back to a normal state?? If I have to re-do any of my two plug-ins, that is ok. Last time I messed with maya it was version 5.
I have many, many models done in 3DS, Max and Blender that I am trying to convert over to Maya (my day job's 3D IDE).
I can view any maya (mb, ma) files with no problem. But today, I am having issues viewing results of simple 3DS imports in any viewport of maya.
The attatchments are of the same file (.3DS) being imported to blender3D and of Maya.
