View 2 RepliesI used Revit Architecture to build up a project. It is now ready for all further task you can do with Revit MEP, like electricity and plumping.
I tried serveal ways to import the rvt file in Revit MEP. If I just open my Revit Arcitecutre file I have all my views and cuts but I can't install any tube or wire because the view is missing where I should see it.
The other way I tried is to open a new MEP project by using the standart template and link it with my Revit Arcitecture file. That works, but I only get a shape of my project and it is really hard to navigate without all the views I was used to in the Revit Arcitecutre.
How can I use MEP on my current project by keeping the views and structure of my Revit Arcitecture file.
I need to import a PDF file into Revit Architecture 2012 and/or AutoCAD Architecture 2012.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several Premier cs3 projects using the Matrox system which I want to import into Premier CC. Howeer the CC will not accept the avi files that were used in the cs3 software. Do I need a special codec for matrox avi files? Where can I get that? Adobe obviously has it as I use it in the cs3 version?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to know if there's a software or plugin that allows you to (semi-) automatically create MEP projects, e.g.:
(Electrical)
Once you have the masonry, you position the wall switches and plugs (set the type, wattage, etc), and the program automatically projects the wiring through the shortest route, including the gauge and protection, and possibly even the switchbox.
The same basic concept could be applied for hydraulic and air also, however, depending on the dimensions the program would need you to inform the areas/walls where it can place ducts/plumbs.
I'd like to create a 3D view of an element to be able to use in different projects. The best logical way I can think of would be to create such element in a project just for that purpose, create 3D views with annotation and then somehow import only those 3D views to the project i'm working on...
I think it can't be done this way but it shows what I want to achieve.
What's the best way to reuse a 3D detail with annotations?
I have recently been informed that my Revit 2013 is not compatible with the classes that I am taking. I have installed Revit 2012, but my projects cannot be opened in 2012. Is there a better or a way at all to transfer these projects?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn AutoCAD Architecture the project can be divided into divisions [URL] ...... Is there anything similar in Revit? Or is there a parameter, that enables dividing the project into divisions during IFC export? The aim is to have an IFC model with divisions, that are visible in a model tree view (for example in Solibri Model Viewer).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with drawings from a consultant. They are sending us DGN files and they do not seem to want to import in the latest AutoCAD Architecture 2013 I have deployed throughout the offce. However, these same drawings have no problem in importing to AutoCAD Architecture 2011. In 2013, I get no activity once I select the file to import. If I click on the screen once, the program dims and the program says it is not responding. But I have no problem with 2011.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I import a layout from template it takes about 5-10 min of ACA not responding before it will actually import the layout from my template file. It will do this on any new file the first time and then it will work just fine after that. This was happening with ACA 2013 and now with 2014.

Is it possible to project an elevation drawn in CAD onto a curved wall in Revit?
The pattern of the cladding is very complicated and varies in both directions (curves) so it was easier to draw in in CAD, but I would like to project it on my curved wall in Revit, co that I could calculate the cladding areas accurately.
My detail component manager in AutoCAD Architecture 2011 was working fine until I installed Revit 2013 on it (as part of Building Design Suite 2013). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling MS .Net framework, but it has not worked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this file that won't open in AutoCAD Architecture 2012, well let me rephrase that, it won't finish opening. It has 4 or 5 xref's attached. I was able to open this same file using 2010. Through process of elimination I was able to determine that a file that was exported from Revit MEP 2012 was the problem. When that file was detached the drawing would open just fine. To make things more interesting, I am able to open the Revit Export file just fine using 2012. What diabolical combination of event has happened to cause this SNAFU.

The employee is acting through screenshots. All worked well using 2009 Revit or Architecture on XP machines. However, we added new faster Windows 7 machines with 2012 products. The PCs are all 64 bit with 16g RAM and a 22mb internet connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are being pushed from some of our customers to supply BIM files for Revit.I was told by our software supplier that Inventor 2014 could create Revit files, and it looks as though I can via the BIM Tab on the Ribbon. I havent used Revit or created any BIM content before and I was hoping to open another manufactures file (*.RFA) in Inventor to disect the file and how to create our own files. I can only find an import option in the OPEN dialog box for a Revit Project File (*.rvt). Is it possable to open/import a RFA files in Inventor 2014?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import a sheet with multiple drawings on it from AutoCAD to a sheet in Revit but when I do so all I get are the lines showing the AutoCAD sheet and the drawing labels but no actual drawings. I have done this before and can't figure what is going wrong. I have the import options set to color: black and white, levels/layers: specify and unit: inch. I also don't have AutoCAD on my workstation and it is a very large hotel project with hundreds of specific details and sheets that I do not want and do not have time to change or redo.
The DWGs I have are all set up as sheets and I don't have any individual details or drawings of the project not already set up as an AutoCAD sheet. I thought I could make the process simple by just importing the DWG sheet with all drawings to a Revit sheet at the correct scale, explode the layers, delete what I don't need and be done, this is NOT the case. Also I can get access to AutoCAD on another workstation after hours .
Is there a way in Revit to export or import settings much like a profile in AutoCAD and how I set up the icon to point at that profile when the program opens? I would like to know how be able to customize where the program looks for the families and other items over the network, so all users can see the same thing, in options.
Attached is the properties of the AutoCAD icon. The Target is set-up to point to the "AutoCAD Architecture (US Imperial)" profile. I would like to do something similar in the Revit icon.
what is the difference between revit Architecture and Revit MEP.
