AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Linecode - Cannot Get Radius To Close At One Of Curbs

View 5 RepliesI am having a lot of trouble adding retaining walls to my surface. I also have to add the curbs of parking lot.
I already have the surface. However I need to tell Civil3D to stop the contours at the retaing walls and not to try to tie them in to anything else. The closest I got was using wall breaklines and I got the top of the retaining wall to have the desired elevation. However, all the contours going to the retainig wall try to go around it and tie in to something else. This ends up creating weird contours and crazy slopes.
Now for curbs, how do I tell Civil3D to jump 6" when it reaches the curb line?
I'm trying to create an assembly that consists of two curbs sub-assemblies that are tied to independent alignments with a pavement section in between them. I have been successful in actually creating an assembly with the two curb sections, but I cannot figure out how to define a line or pavement section that will connect one gutter to the other.
I have one curb tied to the main baseline and the other tied to an offset. I have assigned horizontal alignments and profiles to the baseline and the offset. The curbs actually place where I want them when viewed with the section editor. I had thought that I could use the LinkToMarkedPoint subassembly and simply attach it to the gutter of one curb and to a marked point on the gutter of the other curb, but I can't get it to actually work.
Again, the curb alignment and profiles are completely in independent one another, and I need a way to define a pavement section (or just a surface) between the two gutters.
I am working on custom subassembly and I would need different scenarios for different radiuses along the alignment. Is there a way how to find out this current value?

Just started a drawing in C3D 2013 using an existing template. If I draw an arc using the "Angle" rather than length or radius, entering the angle as 11.1601, then label the arc, the delta angle is converted to hms or 11.0936 . The template and labeling style are ones we've used for several releases. I've compared the feature settings, units and the curve labeling command and can not find where this is being changed.

I’m wondering if there is a way to specify the value of radius (R) while drawing the horizontal alignment.
For example, the value of deflection angle can provided while WHILE drawing the horizontal alignment by typing ‘dd (attached). Is there a way to specify the value of radius (R) while drawing the horizontal alignment?

I know I can use "<[Geometry Point Entity Before Data(CP)]>" (or after...) .
But this text is tooooooooo long.
Is there any way to get only the :
- radius - length of segment. or - Spiral A ???
Maybe using expressions? In this case any hidden elements?
I know I can use segments or multiple segments but I want to do the work in only 1 labeling step ...

Changing the curb return radius after the intersection has been created. I am able to go back to the curb return parameters dialog and enter a different value, but once I hit Enter or OK the value reverts back to the one I orginally used.
So it looks like I have to delete the intersection object and re-start the wizard from scratch. Not that it's a big deal, just thought there might be a way to make the change once the intersection is built.
The association between design speed (V) and radius of circular curve (R),
As the R is positively related to V according to the equation (attached), then I expect that the C3D changes R value as the value of V is changed.
For example, on the attached screenshots, the R value of horizontal alignment is built based on a design speed of 100km/hr. Now if the speed is changed to 50km/hr, then why the value of R is not automatically changed to be compatible with the new speed?
I'd like to view the parameters of my aligments elements near the geometry points. That is, the station and the radius value or spiral parameter (or what I want). I have explored the text & reference text but there is not R or A elements...
How is it possible ? C3D can detect the type of geometry poinr, so it would must to know R, Lenght,. A, etc....
In addition I 'd like to do it using the aligment label set.... sci-fi , isn't it ?
When you have to create plans, the aligments need to show a lot of information. Doing it manually is so boring..... (and in XXI century ...... )

Why? It doesn't seem to be affecting anything, but it's annoying.
Any way I can get rid of it?
About half the time, when I display the text window, it's more or less locked. I can't scroll, I can't click the "X" to close the window, I can't resize it, I can't move it, etc. All I can do is click back in the main AutoCAD window, which brings it to the top and continue working. The text window stays active and in the taskbar until summoned again - until that session of C3D is closed. (It does still reflect the current command status)
Other times, the text window acts normal. There is no obvious difference between when it acts up and when it doesn't. IOW, I'm always running the same profile, same workspace, the command line is always docked, other palette configuration is the same.
Why my 3D view gets cliped when zooming close to an object? I have tried the clipping planes and it says they are off. I have also tried them turned on with the same result.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm to compare volumes in c3d to Inroads. My volumes are not matching ( cut and fill are not even close). View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I open the Volumes Dashboard in a drawing and then close it, my cursor and my WCS compass start blinking erratically, and the program seems more apt to freeze up when I try to do other things from that point on, especially if I try to move to a drawing in another tab. If I bring back the volumes dashboard, it's fine again, but then I've got the annoying outlining of my volume surfaces that I don't want. how to handle this? Is it just an unavoidable glitch in the program?
(I'm using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014.)
I used the function paste to combine three surfaces in one. It could represent a highway. I noticed that when surfaces cross or pass close to each other some extra triangles show up trying to stitch together the surfaces. I can not find an option that can stop this, eg "not create extra triangles". Why these extra triangles occur? Can you limit it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIm trying to draw a series of segments using script. I'm trying to build a template in Excel using my coordinates along with the radius. The segments consist of arcs and straight lines. However, the sequential order of the arcs and straight lines vary from object to object.
Is there anyway to use the ARC command and have the radius be "0"?.
I understand, in principle, this is nothing more than a straight line. However, because of the varying placement of the straight lines within the arcs, it is almost impossible for me to achieve what I'm trying to do without constantly modifying my template to meet the object needs.
Are there any options to use the arc command while applying a zero "0" radius?
I'm having a problem with the fillet command using a radius, I can't seem to get a rounded corner. I have the radius set at 1.00. I should see a rounded corner. If I set it at 0.00 or 1.00. I get the same result. Something doesn't seem right! Could it be a setting.
I viewed a few videos on Youtube and I can't replicate the same filet with radius results. I watched one that you can select radius by right clicking mouse. A text box appears to the right of the cross hair cursor where you can input the radius. On my screen that does not come up.
