AutoCAD Architecture :: Rendering A Scene - Building Always Solid Black
Oct 20, 2011Every time I render a scene one side of my building are always solid black. How can I make the shadows be more transparent?

View 2 RepliesWhen I render a 3D scene in Photoshop CS6, is the GPU of my system of any use? Whenever I render any 3D scene in PS, I have noticed that the GPU stays idle, it does nothing, everything seems to be done by the CPU. Is it supposed to be this way?
OpenGL _is_ correctly enabled in PS and I have just one video card in my system (GTX660 Ti 3GB).
I cannot get any lights to appear in my 3d scenes until I begin rendering. I have installed all updates. In fact, this started when I installed the Creative Cloud update back in December. Also, how do I get rid of the annoying IBL preset?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, I have a pretty simple scene that I am trying to render. I set the Output to HDTV as a AVI. When I play the finished AVI however it looks horrible, garbled and unrecognizable.
(It works normal when I don't select HDTV, but HDTV is fantastic looking.)

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5550 1.83 GHz

I want to render a scene. In Render Setup/Render Output/Save Files, the Save File box is ghosted, so I can't save the files. What's causing this? I tried rebooting Max, but that didn't work either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use film of actors to match the lips for the characters. I am struggling because rendering is taking a few hours (1050 frames in scene 1) and when I get the final product I am seeing things that I need to go back and change. Scrubbing the timeline does not seem to be very accurate..... and this brings me to question 2. I am using film, brought into 3ds max as an image sequence and put as a material onto a plane in the background (then I hide it for rendering).
I am using scanline renderer, but I would have thought that quicksilver or iray would have been faster, they seem to be taking forever...
There are two characters, both have bitmap skin images and are wearing shirts using a bitmap image. The background is Alpha and that is it, there is one spotlight (I would like more but I have read that lights take lots of rendering time)
So, Question 1- Is there a better way to preview a scene - I am trying to get natural looking movement for characters and failing (I only have film of faces for lips)
Question 2- Can I improve my rendering speed?
Question 3 - Am I using reference film correctly?
I'm working with a procedure to render the same scene (same camera position, same light, same lens, same output size, etc) several times due material change. The number of renderings of the same object may easily reach thousands because the scene objects may receive hundreds of different materials at the same time.
Due the scale and repetition of this render process I was wondering if there is a way to pre-render what doesn't change from render to render to try to speed up the process as much as I can. The ideal solution is to do the next Render by reusing all the calculations made previously (even if I have to save a temporary render info - not sure this is even possible inside 3ds Max).
The ideal world would be having a baked max file waiting just for the material replacements and quickly generate the rendered image as fast as possible.
I know some different material properties may affect light and shadows but I think 3ds Max already separate this Render step.
My aim is to automate this process reducing the overall rendering time without wasting resources to recalculate what haven't changed.
i did a 3d max building, and its all in different layers..ie.wall, floor, windows, doors etc. it is quite detailed. so there are currently 119 meshes! how do i make it so the whole building is just one solid building, without all those meshes?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI seems that SolidWorks Live Building is better than Revit, so I'm going to wait until Autodesk buys it and tell us to forget Revit, as they did with AutoArchitect S8 and more recently with ADT:

How would you keep solid image still in front of an animation scene. Let's say I make animated rain and I want to put a picture in front of the animation. I tried this, but my image kept moving when I wanted it to be still.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Autocad Architecture 2010 and would like to change the rendering options if possible. I have drawn something and can view it in realistic style, but when I render it, the lighting comes into play and everything looks too light. What I would like to know is how could I render my drawing in realistic view so that the rendering reflects what is on my screen in model space? Or realistic sketchy view for that matter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using arch 2009, I have a bizarre issue with the rendering output soley based it seems on what version of Autocad the original drawing was created.
I have a block with 3d elements & materials, I insert it on any drawing which was created in release 14 which just about 100% of our drawings are (because you know, you take your old title blocks, convert then to the new version of Autocad, year after year after year, so the original title block was created way back when, just saved in the new format.) Anyhows, these are where the 3d blocks were created, newly in r2009, on on drawings originally created a long time ago. We just created new office title blocks from scratch in r2009 starting with the acad.dwt template.
When you insert any of these blocks, render it, the colors are different, too bright. here are all the specs for both drawings, one with the corect colors, one without. We have a ton of these blocks created over the last year or so which we render in Acad for the graphics guy to use for color elevations so its a pretty big deal if the color output is not reliable, it should be the same if all your settings are the same regardless of where the drawing file came from. I have missed something, and its probably something simple, it always is.
1. Same block with same material specs, verified on both drawings.
2. Zero lights, as per the lightlist on both drawings.
3. LINEARBRIGHTNESS - set to zero on both drawings.
4. LINEARCONTRAST- set to zero on both drawings.
5. DEFAULTLIGHTING - set to ONE on both drawings, viewport.
6. DEFAULTLIGHTINGTYPE - set to ONE on both drawings, viewport.
7. Render envirionment & render settting dialogue boxes, match line for line, verified.
Here are the 2 rendered images of the same block inserted on 2 different drawings. The darker one is the correct one:
When I pick rendered for my shadeplot on a viewport, none of the materials applied to multi-view blocks show up. Is this common or is there a fix?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a simple model of two desk units. I also have a large rectangular area under them with a carpet texture applied. The desks each have two textures/materials applied. I am rendering to a viewport at 640x480, with shadows on and "high" quality. I have 4 point light sources in the model. When I render to viewport, it all looks great. But when I plot or plot preview, all of the detail/textures/materials in the horizontal surfaces are gone and it plots as completely white in those areas and also shows it white in plot preview.
Attached are two images. RENDER A is a screenshot of the correct image rendered on screen and RENDER B is a screenshot of the plot preview screen showing the white areas (which is also how it really prints).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a HP DesignJet T1100 (non postscript). I have inserted a screen capture of a google map into a sheet as a area/aerial location map for the project. Unfortunately, the jpeg is plotting out as solid black. I have tried inserting it in different ways but same result when plotting. I understand the difference between PS and nonPS plotters/drivers but I was under the impression that there was a setting to plot images in nonPS plotter dialouge box. I did find various incarnations of my question but nothing that directly speaks to it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded my PC and before when I select plot quality "high graphics" the spreadsheet comes out low resolution, if I use monochrome spreadsheets came out perfectly defined.
Now with the new PC High graphics still comes out the same but when I select monochrome all I get is a solid black block. If the OLE object is an image (BMP) it comes out perfect with monochrome,it only happens with excel files
I search the forums for an answer but the closest I found was changing the OLE type under properties (currently is embedded); problem is the field is grayed out and cannot be changed just as the source application (ms excel 2003)
By the way, on the older files created with my old PC if I just open and print them from the new computer they come out perfect; if I open the OLE file and modify it, the solid black block shows up regardless if I print to PDF or print on paper.
There's a transparency box you can check when you go to print.

Because of the problems with wipeouts, I have switched to using some solid hatch set to colour 255. The hatch is in paperspace, sitting under titleblock and other Layout text. I am plotting to an HP1050C, using a .ctb file with 255 set with grayscale off.
The plot preview is fine, but the hatch blocks come out black on paper. I thought this was the problem with wipeouts, and that hatch didn't suffer from it.
I have used textmask on text and the textmask is solid, how can I change this from solid to normal textmask .

So... Is it possible when drawing a line to snap to a 'grip'? I've got a drawing that has been converted from PDF to DWG and the wall outlines are gone. What is there is hatching that is the poche. That means I could re-trace the walls if I could snap to the outside grips of the solid hatching that is there.
Suddenly I can't use Solid hatch. I tells me "Unable to update the solid fill" when I try to change a hatch pattern to Soild. And when I try to Hatch with Solid it tells me "Unable to fill the boundary with solid". I'm hatching a basic PLine Rectangle (all corners joined). Worked fine yesterday.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhy my interior rendering scenes just show up black. I have opened up projects from previous releases that I was able to get interior scenes to render correctly and they render fine in 2013. I've imported the modified fixtures to the current projects file and they still don't do anything. The scene I'm talking about has a ceiling modeled on the underside of a floor. I've read this may be an issue, but my light fixtures light source is to be 1/4" above the plane of the ceiling. In my case, it's a 5/8" layer of drywall.

This is the first time I'm working in metric scale, but if this is the issue, my measurement system variable is set to 1 and my units are set to metric.

I am on ACA2011. It does not matter if I am in model or a viewport. It is the same.
I have another file open and that dim ticks are filled.
I have imported the dim string into the one that does not work and still nothing.
I just got a Sigma dp1x. LR renders all my x3f raw files black. A normal preview will show up, but when I attempt to edit the photo, the picture goes completely black. I am running LR4.1 and ACR 7.1 win 7.
