AutoCAD 2010 :: Switching Data Type Of Cell

Mar 4, 2012

(Again) Switching the “data type” of the cell,I’m not sure why the AutoCAD doesn't allow changing the “data type” of the cell in the table for already existing data. For example, in the attached table, I wanted to switch the “data type” from “decimal number” to “percentages”, but sounds that the AutoCAD doesn’t allow this function.

In the Excel, for example, we can switch the “data type” easily by selecting the target cells and choosing the format we need! Quite simple, in the AutoCAD, it seems that it needs some work around!

AutoCAD 2013 :: Embed Data In Table So That User Can Select From Group Of Data Within One Cell?

Oct 24, 2013

Is it possible to embedd data in a table so that a user can select from a group of data within one cell?

I use this technique quite often in Excel.  One cell in a table can have various values: A, B, C, or D.  While another cell can have a different set of values to choose from:  BLUE, RED, ORANGE, or PURPLE.  The user can pull down an arrow (similar to a dynamic block) and choose from a set list of values.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Table Automatically Changes Data Type Properties?

Dec 8, 2010

I've created a table (a door schedule for example). The data cell type properties is "general". The door # is "001". When I type this in, it switches to just "1" and the type is swiched to "whole number." Same for another cell with a number in it, it switches the cell type on me and I don't want what it switches to. Every time I try to switch it back it doesn't do anything.

How do I stop it from automatically switching, or at very least let me override?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Table From Data Link To Excel 2000 Cell Limit

May 5, 2011

I struggled for a while this morning with trying to data link to a large door schedule in Excel.  After several failures, I searched online for answers, and read in another forum that AutoCAD won't data link to more than 2000 cells.

My door schedule is about 2050 cells now, and will be about 4000 when done.  I defined a set of about 1,000 cells in the Excel spreadsheet, and AutoCAD linked to it no problem.  So, I tend to believe the poster who stated the 2000 cell limit, but I can't find this.

I have my page layout in excel to be 11 x 17 landscape.  I have my table at about 9 1/4 x 15 landscape. Once I import it into autocad, it is now about 6 3/8 x 20 1/4. I don't know what i'm doing wrong but i need it to transfer just like it is in excel as far as the size of it.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Viewport - Switching Between Model And Paperspace

Jul 9, 2012

Am using Autocad 2012 with SP2 downloaded, note the problem does not occur in Autocad 2013... So basically if you open the dwg you will see it opens in paperspace, the viewport is locked to a specific scale etc. Now go into model space where the dwg is, you should be able to zoom around, pan etc fine, problem is when you now go back into the layout or paperspace. You will notice that upon re-entering paperspace that the vport is highlighted, ie there is a thicker outline of the vport boundary, however am still in paperspace according to the tabs. When you now try zooming in or out using the mouse scroll you will notice an additional copy of the viewport is imprinted on the screen. Thats the problem.  Doing a few undos will set you back right again.

So far we are inclined to think that its either something to do with the UCS or the units that the program is getting confused with but havent been able to find a solution. Also bear in mind that it seems to work fine in 2013. Its probably something really simple that we've missed but thought would try anyway Will attach the dwg file.

When I work in large files (10,000 kb +) I experience significant delays when copying large amounts of information (copy a floor plan) or when switching between layouts or saving the dwg.  I wish I could tell you it started right after I But I just recently started working with the larger files.  So this could have been an issue from the time I bough the machine - 18 months ago.

it's either an issue with my graphics card or processor.  I would like others to comment on their opinions on adjust my set-up to be more efficient

I believe I have the most current driver for the video card.  Did I hear right somewhere that there is no good driver for the Quadro 4000 to work with  2012?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Same Layouts In One Drawing But Slow Switching To One Of Them

Dec 6, 2013

i have a test drawing attached with layout 1 and layout 2.

from model to layout 1 takes 2-3 seconds on my crappy computer, from model to layout 2 takes 8-10 seconds on the same crappy computer.

this sample i attached has a xref binded. which result is the same 3 and  8 seconds respectively.

you may think this is not a big deal. but layout 1 will take 10 seconds to to switch to if you have 5 xref while layout 2 will take a minute.

i did my research and haven't find the difference in variables between the two paperspace layouts.

tried all the variables made no difference:

psltscale, msltscale, celtscale, savefidelity, etc.

also set both viewoprts to undefined same thing.

the only difference is "1" is created from a blank autocad template by selecting "metric - no template", and "2" is imported from a civil 3d dwg after done a plan/profile production and that thing created that layout.

is there a tool to compare all variables between 2 layouts and find the differences? i am certain the problem lie within system variables.

AutoCad :: Data Table Type Editing?

Feb 27, 2013

I am having problems regarding Data Table Types.

I utilize Excel to build BOM's. I import them through data connection, I than will tell it which cells are Headers / Data / Titles. At which point text sizes / styles ... are applied.

Problem,

I have a cell that is enlarged with small text in the middle. I can orientate the boxes to increase in the Vertical or Horizontal directions larger than the original Excel Data File but i cannot get them to shrink?

I want .05" on the left / right of the widest data, and .02" on the top and bottom. If i change Vertical to .02 it puts the text at the top of the cell.. but if i put it at 1, it enlarges the cell and places it in the middle.

Horizontal i want .02 from the left, but if i align left it goes all the way to the left line.

Can a table format re-define an external excel spreadsheets cell lengths? Obviously taking into account if Wrap text is Enabled it takes the width and defines only the height?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Viewport Changing Shadeplot Type

Jun 15, 2011

We've recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2012, having previously used 2008. All our drawings are therefore in 2007 drawing format (not sure this is relevant!). When I open a drawing, and send a plot, I noticed that the linetypes in my plot were strange - hidden lines plot as solid, lines thicker than other lines, etc. I've discovered (from another forum) that the shadeplot type in my viewports has changed to "legacy hidden" instead of "as displayed". When I open the same drawing in AutoCAD 2008, the shadeplot is correctly set to "as displayed". Is there something I'm missing that is causing my viewports to change to "legacy hidden" plot style?

as I'm currently having to (remember to) change the viewport shade plot to "as displayed", or I'm wasting a lot of plotter paper!

AutoCAD 2010 :: Multiple Selection Of Objects By One Type

May 11, 2012

My question is, if there any tool /command, utility in autocad to select all objects of one type at one time : for example all text objects or all dimention objects  if these objects on different layers and have different properties. in my work I have to insert many blocks(not annotative) or parts of drawings which were created by other people and have different from mine settings and properties of text and dimention objects. the insertions add so many layers and objects that I spend lots of time to correct them and to figure it  out.

is there any way( command, utility) to select and manage all of these  objects at one time?

P.S.i think it is very unconvenient that the  plain autocad  does not have dimentions and text as families or some sort of groups that s easy to manage.
