How to import data from excel (from particular cell) to AutoCAD Drawing. I have already Created a template for both Excel and AutoCAD. I want to do Whenever i am changing the datas in excel sheet corresponding changes to be done in AutoCAd drawing.
I am using AutoCAD 2010 and Microsoft excel 2007.
I struggled for a while this morning with trying to data link to a large door schedule in Excel. After several failures, I searched online for answers, and read in another forum that AutoCAD won't data link to more than 2000 cells.
My door schedule is about 2050 cells now, and will be about 4000 when done. I defined a set of about 1,000 cells in the Excel spreadsheet, and AutoCAD linked to it no problem. So, I tend to believe the poster who stated the 2000 cell limit, but I can't find this.
I would like to be able to retreive data from a sepcified cell, in a specified worksheet, from an excel file.
I don't have any clue how to connect to an excel file and read the data. Most seems to think you already had an understanding but I'm starting from the beginning.
I want to send the contents of A1 to an Illustrator document at 135, 172 and B1 to 135,190, same with A2/B2 will be at different coordinates as will A3/B3 and so on... I want to do this 6 times and save the document as a PDF. Then, it should clear and do it again. The columns will ALWAYS be A and B.

Initially this works fine and the table appears in the drawing however when we want to break the link by deleting it in the data link table autocad tells me that the link is in use. We routinely do this in autocad mechanical 2010. The reason we do this is to be able to bring in the table and preserve formatting. How can we easily delete the data link in 2010 LT?

I use this technique quite often in Excel. One cell in a table can have various values: A, B, C, or D. While another cell can have a different set of values to choose from: BLUE, RED, ORANGE, or PURPLE. The user can pull down an arrow (similar to a dynamic block) and choose from a set list of values.
I have a very large excel file with a list of companies in this format:
company_category company_name company_description telephone email
In InDesign I have paragraph style for each one but I need a solution to import all this data and apply the styles automatically.
Few things:
- I don't want to import all these into a table. I want all the info in a 3 text columns format that will run accros 150 pages (more or less)
- I'm using InDesign CS6
Is there any way to automate this?

I've managed to get so far, by using code that Curtis posted, which does the opposite of what im looking to do.The code Curtis posted takes info from excel and fills in iprops.
I can fill in specific cells, for instance columns A, B & C on Row 1 and place that info into a specific spreadsheet. But my code falls down when i run the code on another .dwg, It obviously overwrites what was previously in those cells.... I am looking for the code that looks to see if those cells are in use, and if so, go to the next available cell down.
was wondering if it's possible to bring in the value of a single Excel cell into a predefined window area in AutoCAD LT 2012? Some of our tool and die calculations are done in Excel, but we only want one cell (equation summary or description) brought into to AutoCAD 2007. If not AutoCAD LT 2007, then what about a more recent version of LT or even full blown AutoCAD?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created a data link, linked to my autocad drawing, checked the box to keep excel formatting and update. Once i Import the table, the size of the table is NOTHING like what the size is in excel.
I have my page layout in excel to be 11 x 17 landscape. I have my table at about 9 1/4 x 15 landscape. Once I import it into autocad, it is now about 6 3/8 x 20 1/4. I don't know what i'm doing wrong but i need it to transfer just like it is in excel as far as the size of it.
I am using a link to an .xls worksheet to populate a General Table in my .idw (Inventor 2012). See attached. The blank space underneath the first lines of information will always be blank, no matter how many rows we get. Is there a way to have the drawing hide the blank/empty cells, make the borders invisible, etc?
I have tried using the Insert Object for an Excel file instead of using the Table feature, but it does not appear to be an updatable link. As in, if I change data in my .xls file, it won't update the inserted object to the same info.

View 4 Replies View Related(Again) Switching the “data type” of the cell,I’m not sure why the AutoCAD doesn't allow changing the “data type” of the cell in the table for already existing data. For example, in the attached table, I wanted to switch the “data type” from “decimal number” to “percentages”, but sounds that the AutoCAD doesn’t allow this function.
In the Excel, for example, we can switch the “data type” easily by selecting the target cells and choosing the format we need! Quite simple, in the AutoCAD, it seems that it needs some work around!

how to import point data that has Map Object Data also attached to it? "import it by attaching to a data source".
Example: I have a bunch of manholes. Each MH has X,Y,Z, but also Type, Invert Elevs., Pipe Sizes, Pipe Materials, Pipe Directions, Structure Type/Material, etc. etc. etc. I may have point data representing MH's, airport runway ends, trees, anything you can imagine, with all kinds of data imaginable.
I want to import this data directly into Autocad/Civil 3D as either Autocad points, lines, or closed polylines (I also have utility lines, parking lots, etc.- all with data associated with it), all with the data attached as object data. I know that anything more complex than points might be hard to explain here, so I am hoping at least for a solution on how to import points - I have 99,999 MH's and obviously I don't want to have to type all that data in one by one.
I basically suck at using sql server. I can get around using the Map workspace and the different tabs. I have never used FDO, and I am not even sure what it is.
I fooled it today by creating 99,999 Autocad points at the correct XYZ, attaching the correct object data to them, then exporting as a shp file. I went into the shp_name.dbf file and edited it to add the data I wanted by cutting & pasting from Excel. then I re-imported the shp file. but, this is a workaround at best.
Surely Map can import objects and their associated data fields, all populated with valid data! all I need is to know how to do it. I mean, if this is not something I can do directly using Map commands should I take the money I earned by surveying 99,999 MH's with my GIS data collector that allows me to assign 101data fields to each object I survey, and buy something better?

The Data in excel is on automatic color and arial text, once imported into ACAD as ACAD entities the data in my table does not want to change to being bylayer as the cell type is set to but instead stays on white. The only way I can change the color is by entering the cell and changing it manually to bylayer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been asked to write a module that will export layer data from AutoCAD and put it in an Excel spreadsheet. The user wants to have this done through a macro. I am assuming that I need to create a dll that is called from inside AutoCAD but I am not sure.
They want to start with AutoCAD 2008 and once we get it working there we will convert it to 2011 or 2012.
First of all, I can not find the 2008 API and second of all I'm not sure where to start. I am very experienced at programming. We are going to use VB.NET.
When trying to insert a table linked to an Excel 2010 file, it works up until row 28, however, as soon as I add a 29th row to the table it no longer inserts the table. When I try and insert it, I press ok and nothing happens. I tried inserting it as a smaller table and changing the data link to a bigger range after it was inserted, it just didn't update to a larger range.
Is there a way of getting this to work without having to insert it as two different tables?
Seems like i export the data of thickness, diameter, lenght and mass to excel via dataextraction, but if i change something in the drawing, its not updated in the excel file..
I also wanted to export the data to an already existing part list template, but this seems impossible...
Can you take text from a drawing and export it out to excel? My thoughts are room numbers, employee names, department names, etc.

I'd like to be able to have the coordinate attributes of blocks inserted into my bore site plans populate automatically, perhaps based off of the value of a bore site ID attribute which is manually entered for each bore site.
Alternatively, if there were a way to insert the bore site blocks based off the actual Excel records, populating all attributes and locating the block by the actual X,Y,Z coordinate, that might be even better.
when I import PNEZD format .csv using import wizard the coordinates get transformed. all points are shifted about 20' in northing and 5 feet in easting. I have to use the import wizard w/ survey database in order to process linework codes.
