AutoCad :: Edit Text By Editing Cell In Excel?
Nov 1, 2005I want to be able to edit text by editing a cell in excel. I am not sure if there is any way to do it with AutoCAD LT 2004 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003.

May 27, 2013What im trying to do is take the i properties from an inventor .dwg, and place them into a specific excel spreadsheet. I've managed to get so far, by using code that Curtis posted, which does the opposite of what im looking to do.The code Curtis posted takes info from excel and fills in iprops.
I can fill in specific cells, for instance columns A, B & C on Row 1 and place that info into a specific spreadsheet. But my code falls down when i run the code on another .dwg, It obviously overwrites what was previously in those cells.... I am looking for the code that looks to see if those cells are in use, and if so, go to the next available cell down.

Jan 9, 2012was wondering if it's possible to bring in the value of a single Excel cell into a predefined window area in AutoCAD LT 2012? Some of our tool and die calculations are done in Excel, but we only want one cell (equation summary or description) brought into to AutoCAD 2007. If not AutoCAD LT 2007, then what about a more recent version of LT or even full blown AutoCAD?

Apr 17, 2012I've created a data link, linked to my autocad drawing, checked the box to keep excel formatting and update. Once i Import the table, the size of the table is NOTHING like what the size is in excel.
I have my page layout in excel to be 11 x 17 landscape. I have my table at about 9 1/4 x 15 landscape. Once I import it into autocad, it is now about 6 3/8 x 20 1/4. I don't know what i'm doing wrong but i need it to transfer just like it is in excel as far as the size of it.

May 18, 2012I am using a link to an .xls worksheet to populate a General Table in my .idw (Inventor 2012). See attached. The blank space underneath the first lines of information will always be blank, no matter how many rows we get. Is there a way to have the drawing hide the blank/empty cells, make the borders invisible, etc?
I have tried using the Insert Object for an Excel file instead of using the Table feature, but it does not appear to be an updatable link. As in, if I change data in my .xls file, it won't update the inserted object to the same info.

May 5, 2011I struggled for a while this morning with trying to data link to a large door schedule in Excel. After several failures, I searched online for answers, and read in another forum that AutoCAD won't data link to more than 2000 cells.
My door schedule is about 2050 cells now, and will be about 4000 when done. I defined a set of about 1,000 cells in the Excel spreadsheet, and AutoCAD linked to it no problem. So, I tend to believe the poster who stated the 2000 cell limit, but I can't find this.

Illustrator :: Fill And Text Editing On Excel Imported Bar Graph
Feb 1, 2013I am trying to modify a bar graph that I have imported as a pdf from excel, and am having some trouble with customizing the color fill on the bars of the bar graph. When I select the object/bar and then fill with a different color, I see no change. However the menu shows the new color I selected for that particular object. Is there something weird about the type of object that the bar is when it is imported from excel?
OK I figured out that for some reason the bars on the bar graph are imported as clipping masks - very weird, you need to release the clipping mask, deselect the bar, select and delete the background shading, then fill the bar (which was previously the mask, I believe?) Why excel exports like this?
I notice something similar with the imported text labels associated with the same graph. When I select the text and change the font size, for some strange reason it can size up (say, from 10pt to 12pt) but not down (day, from 10pt to 8pt) It seems weird when I try to edit it at all really, as if the element was not a text element, is there some way to convert it to a text object? Ok this is working properly now, don't know why it was wonky before.
I am using CS5 with a Mac running 10.7.5

GIMP :: Cannot Edit Text (confirm Text Editing)
Jan 3, 2013I am clicking on a layer in GIMP, and when I click on the text tool, this dialog pops up "CONFIRM TEXT EDITING" "the layer you selected is a text layer but it has been modified using other tools. Editing the layer with the text tool will discard these modifications. You can edit the layer or create a new text layer from its text attributes."
with 3 options, Create New layer, Cancel, and Edit however, no matter what I click, it doesn't let me create new text anywhere.ALSO, it seems to jump from the layer i selected to another layer whenever I click "EDIT."
What is weird is that I was able to create new text prior to this, but not anymore. it's gimp 2.8.0

I want to do this 6 times and save the document as a PDF. Then, it should clear and do it again. The columns will ALWAYS be A and B.

Under my survey database in Survey Points I hit EDIT POINTS and it brings up the SURVEY POINTS EDITOR. My points are listed as white observed points but when I click on the description cell it won't allow me to change anything.

Dec 6, 2011We are using inventor 2011 and I would like to make the text wrap where I want it to not where the cell length determines. Can I do this in the ipropeties of the part? When I edit the parts list to move wrap the text manually the text turns blue of course, but this also negates the updating of parts automatically. In the part I use an expression to ensure that the description reverts back to the iproperties of the part ie =<G_L> X <G_W> - <MATERIAL>. I would like it to insert a text wrap then proceed to the next line with <STOCKNUMBER> - <PARTNUMBER> so I would look like:

Oct 12, 2012I've cut and "paste special" a table from excel to autocad, and would like to edit several (not all) cell's text color from the default (in this case white) to the bylayer color.
When I set up my table style I specified the text to be bylayer, however apparently a paste from excel ignores the setting.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Edit / Extract 3D Coordinate After Excel XYZ Upload
May 9, 2013I'm doing some work with routed tubing at the moment using the Excel XYZ upload facility with auto-bend enabled and it works great. What I would like to know is if there is a way to edit an individual intersect point after the 3D line has been created? I've tried myself but can only movethe complete line, (all coordinates).
I would also like to know if it is possible to extract all XYZ intersect points back to excel or a table within Inventor so I could use the data with a CNC bending machine? Even displaying all coodrinates on the screen at once would be useful.
A working example would be as follows..., I will upload the customers XYZ data to create a 3D line, modifiy specific intersect points to simplify manufacturing and then extract the new co-ordinates to be used for prototyping purposes.

I believe it was working in 2012 but haven't really noticed it not working till after Sp1 install till now..

CorelDRAW X5 :: Importing Excel 2010 Charts For Editing
Oct 18, 2011I have been using CorelDraw for years (since version 2) to dress up charts generated in Excel by using copy picture from Excel and pasting (special) as an enhanced metafile. Now since moving to Excel 2010 and CorelDraw X5 it seems some functionality has changed so that most of my chart objects (symbols, lines, but not text) appear in CorelDraw as two separate objects when I view them with wireframe mode.
One seems to be the outline of the object, the other is the centreline (see below). This makes editing tedious because for symbols, I must individually delete the outline object. For lines it is impossible - basically a line in the Excel chart turns into a "sausage" which can be both filled and outline edited. Maybe I am just missing an option somewhere to deal with this or is this some option in Excel that I need to change (re- the latter, a colleague with Adobe Illustrator doesn't have this problem on the same Excel charts).

I thought the best way might be to extract the text to excel and perform it there but at the moment the only way i can do it is to copy and paste the text and its taking me forever. Apr 20, 2012I have 2 to 6 tables per drawing, each at a maximum of 48 cells. I linked them through the special paste and expended them so each cell is 6" Wide and 1" Tall (in model space) and seen through a viewport at 2" = 1'-0" (so 1" wide by .167" tall). The text is noticeably fuzzy and I'm trying to clear it up without going back to the Tables (the reformatting of the Tables already spent an extra 2 hours on one of the 11 assignments).

Oct 4, 2013I was trying to edit a corridor surface manually by editing points and tin lines but for me its much easier to edit the contours itself so I explode the surface into polylines and fix the contour issues but when i make it into a new surface the Surface does not look clean anymore. When I look at it in the object viewer it looks rough and jagged and doesn't look like a road at all, however my original corridor surface did look clean with perfect roads and cul de sacs i just wanted to fix the contours outside the road. I tried extracting it like i should have done in the first place but when i add the contours to a surface it still looks ugly and jagged. Another thing is that when you look at it in 2D or plan view the contours look exactly the same but when i look at it from a perspective view or 3D that's when you see the difference.

Sep 24, 2011I am playing with a design in simulation where the balance is effected by gravity. I have a part at a set angle to start off so a constraint is place and set to this angle,then in simulation I suppress the angle prior to starting the simulation to see what happens. Then I unsuppress the angle then edit it to adjust the simulation to a new angle I then resupress the angle to free it up and run the simulation again.
This can go on a few times until the angle is found in the simulation.The problem I have is it takes ages to do this. Basically it seems in simulation the tree is always collapsed and I want it expanded, how ever after each change the tree collapses?
Is there a way to have the tree always expanded so I can quickly find and adjust my constraint? Or even better is there a way to pull the constraint into the main edit window for direct editing?
It would be good if a small bow / window could be opened with the ability to add a setting/constraignt that needs constant updating.
AutoCAD VB :: Text Value Extraction To Excel
Mar 8, 2012I have a favor to ask. In my drawings i have two distinct layer names (Say "ew" and "ns"). On these layers i have numerous plain text numbers in 5mm increments which are repeated many times throughout the drawing. What i would like to do is be able to start a VBA macro, have it ask the user to select an area by window on the drawing file, and have VBA look up and count the sum of all instances of each number occurring in the selected window. Then dump them into an excel spread sheet which i will then manipulate from there. An example output would look something like below: "NS" Layer Quantities... Height 25 30 35 40 45 and so on Total 56 33 62 39 50 "EW" Layer Quantities... Height 25 30 35 40 45 and so on Total 56 33 62 39 50 The ouput would require two rows of information. The top number would be the number on the drawing as text item and the lower row would be the total number of times that number appears in the selected area.
