I am clicking on a layer in GIMP, and when I click on the text tool, this dialog pops up "CONFIRM TEXT EDITING" "the layer you selected is a text layer but it has been modified using other tools. Editing the layer with the text tool will discard these modifications. You can edit the layer or create a new text layer from its text attributes."
with 3 options, Create New layer, Cancel, and Edit however, no matter what I click, it doesn't let me create new text anywhere.ALSO, it seems to jump from the layer i selected to another layer whenever I click "EDIT."
What is weird is that I was able to create new text prior to this, but not anymore. it's gimp 2.8.0
I want to be able to edit text by editing a cell in excel. I am not sure if there is any way to do it with AutoCAD LT 2004 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003.
Is there a way to shut off or move the confirm reject button in elements 11 when adding text? The Icon gets in the way when adding text to the bottom of a photo.
I have been using it to create graphics for the pin-back buttons I make. I have been using the Photoshop 1" button template located on this page:[URL]
The template has the words "perimeter text" that follows the inside of a path on the template. In the video demo on the same page in which the user used photoshop to demonstrate, she just hovers over the text with the mouse after selecting the text tool and is able to click on it and just change the exsisting text. I have not found this to be the case using Gimp. Is there a way I can easily edit this text, or do I have to create my own text along the path? If I have to create my own text along the path, how do I make it so the text follws in inside edge of the path?
I just purchased a plr blog and I cannot figure out how to edit the header text. I want to change the text to match my domain name. The file is a psd but I beleive gimp can edit psd? The header is: [URL] ....
I also uploaded the psd file: [URL] ...............
I downloaded the latest Gimp 2.8 for Mac. Every time I try to edit text it crashes on me. The error log can be found at the thread I opened at Apple [URL]
I can't seem to change the text layer in this logo I have attached. I thought if I click on the layer I would be able to change spelling. Do I have to delete the layer and add a new one?
I want to do a glow effect on a logo that I am working on.. the problem is that all the tutorials I've seen are for single text boxes. I will need to have different sizes and fonts so it requires more than one text box. I can edit the first text box to where I can "path from text," add a new layer, "select from path," create an outline using the "grow" effect and then blur the it so it looks like a soft edge with a different color than the text. I would like to do this for each text box, but when I add a new layer for a new letter and attempt to "select from path" it will only highlight the letter that I've already completed with the glow effect. I'm thinking I will have to save the file each time I create a new glow letter and reopen as a new file to add one more glow letter... but is there a faster way? I've attached a screen shot... the whole logo will read like this:
Affiliated Wellness Group
The A,W, and G will be larger and in a different font than the lowercase letters when its done. SO I will have 6 text boxes total.
I have a scanned document but need its text edited/altered. Got be done by tomorrow morning Its only 3 words that need editing and i will send the document to interested parties as its rather personal.
I can't change the size of text I'm adding to any image in Gimp. I go in this order. Click the text tool, choose my font, change the size from 18 to 300 click the area I need to type and then all of a sudden the size resets back to 18! even if I choose the "Use editor" option from the Text tool window the problem persists.
So i have been having a bit of a issue editing the text in the following PSD file the text says Allrounder and i wanted to change it but using gimp i can not find the layer to do so ?
I just purchased a plr blog and I cannot figure out how to edit the header text. I want to change the text to match my domain name. The file is a psd but I believe gimp can edit psd? The header is:
I'm trying to edit the text on this file by selecting the layer that contains the text, I can move the layer/text, but for some reason I can't edit the actual text.
I am using Gimp version 2.6.11 under Mac OS X version 10.4.11.
I am having a problem that is driving me to distraction: When I close a file and open it again, it is impossible to edit the text. Please note that before saving the file, I have no problems editing the text--so I have already passed hurdle.
It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a word or two, but I am in a situation where I will have to delete several paragraphs of text and re-type them in order to fix a small typo. With my typing skills, it is likely that I will make another typo in the process. And, of course, I don't remember what font I was using, or the type size, etc. etc.
How to edit text from psd file (photoshop) in GIMP? I can only change the layer title and not edit the text box. Will it be possible in future GIMP versions or maybe there is a plugin that allows this?
I tried GIMP on Linux Mint and was delighted.A bit annoying, though, was that the on-canvas-text-editing parameters box can't be turned off, because it's in the way when I want a full view of my graphic while I'm typing and editing.
I use 2.8.2. I have some words on a picture, in a text layer. I didn't make anything with the text, it is pure text. I want to edit it. I open the layer and click on the text. As soon as I click, I get a new text field, and if I write something, a new text-layer opens. The old one is untouchable. What can I do?
I am simply trying to outline some text. When I get to the "edit stroke" dialog box (where you specify number of pixels for width, etc.), it doesn't have an option for "line color". I thought it said it puts it in as the "last color used" or something like that. I keep setting the foreground color beforehand (to grey). It keeps putting the line in as red, when I want it grey. how you specify this color? Or if there is a simpler way to outline some text?
When I am editing text, GIMP will no longer apply italic nor bold effects. (Underline works though.)
I just upgraded from 2.8(.2?) to 2.8.6, and now I have this problem. I also just upgraded from Win XP to WIn 7 and upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, so I don't know if that is a factor.
I have files I created with the last version of GIMP that I can open and see the text properly formatted, but if I adjust the text the formatting disappears and WILL NOT come back.
GIMP won't print anymore either. My printer is set up correctly and I can print from other programs, but when I print from GIMP, it LOOKS like it went through, but the printer fails to do anything. I wind up having to tell GIMP to print to the microsoft xps writer (which DOES work) and then open the xps file I just made and have windows print it.
The company logo is two words. It's in Irish and has a fada on top of one letter.(hence it is harder to find a nice font)
I'm trying to take the logo from the pdf it's in, and apply it to a poster i have designed. I'd like to be able to change the size of the lettering and color etc once it's in the new image. I've tried the "path tool", and also cropping it and copy/paste to the new image, but the background color that comes with it looks awful!
i switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties
I just installed GIMP. My experience is with office suites, like WordPerfect and Sun Open Office.
First, is this the official forum for gimp.org?
I need to edit a GIF image file. I have it loaded and converted to RGB. I cannot find anything on any menu about edit a GIF file. It is basically a horizontal rectangle with text on the left and a color on the right, and I just need to replace the text and change the font, without disturbing anything else. It needs to "fit" back into a webpage afterwards. As far as I can see, there is only one layer, if that makes any difference.
Photoshop CC up to date 5 years PS experience Restart of file and PS didn't resolve the issue Creating Smart Object didn't resolve issue
When attempting to add simple text on an individual layer, the layer is turning black. This prevents me from seeing the text I'm editing. When I move to another layer the text displays correctly. When I go to edit the text by clicking the image the layer goes black again. It is like editing text in the dark, turning the light on to see the changes, turning the light off to make the changes, repeat.
How to accept (confirm) an action in GIMP? For example, I have pasted one image into another, but 'marching ants' are still going around pasted image. Btw, the flatten image option is grayed out.
I have a family photo including many text layers. I'm trying to edit the text in a selected large multi-line text layer. I'm following the steps from the appropriate PSE article, but I always end up creating a new layer and the red/green no-go/go option. I thought I should just be able to double-click the text layer and start editing.
Is there a way to export text from InDesign to Photoshop and preserve the type as editable text in an area text box, similar to the export to PSD in Illustrator? Designed many web site pages in InDesign, and now need to covert all pages over to Photoshop quickly.
I'm having this strange issue with the Photoshop type tool in Photoshop CS5. It might be, although I'm not sure, a bug. The tool itself is working and lets me add text and edit. But the box that shows up when editing text (and the blinking line that shows where I am in the text) - has gone invisible. I am having this issue in only one document. - I tested the type tool on other documents, and everything was normal. I've looked up shotcuts and hotkeys to check if I've tapped a key or something, but it doesn't appear to be so.
Now about the document; it does have quite the amount of text layers, and a lot of text in them. I've tried resetting the type tool, and I've restarted the program.
When I restart the program, the tool works as it's supposed to - but after editing or adding a new text layer, the editing area is gone again! Is this a bug, or have I touched keys that do odd things?
Is it possible to lock a text box to prevent it from moving but still be able to input & edit text?I want to make a drawing template in CorelDraw x6 using text boxes for "non Corel friendly" people to use but need the actual text boxes to stay in the same place all the time!?
