Switching the “hatch” to be “associative” gives “not applicable”!
I’m wondering why as I choose the “yes” for the “associative” property of the “hatch” then this gives “not applicable” as shown in the screenshot below
What might be the reason?
What is the concept and differences between associative and non associative hatch, dimension etc?

I have a large drawing with a bucket load of dimensions. I did not realise until too late that my dimensions styles were set to be associative by default. Now whenever I alter the drawing such as breaking a polyline that a dimension is associated to the dimension sometimes goes haywire. If I select affected dimensions I can see in the properties window that the dimension is associative but the field is greyed out and I can't alter it.
Is there a global or per-object way to change this association? Exploding is not an option.
My Computer just recently jusst got switched to a new server...
Somethings are just acting weird now, like my hatching...
All my old hatches that were associative are acting like one seltions like if i hatch a polyline now when i go to select that hatch it now selects the polyline as well.
This never happened before abd the only way to edit it now is to either make it in the properties not associative then i lose my boundary or just to explode it then i a ihave an exploded hatch...before i made it assoc. and i could just edit or select the hatch only i think its an option setting...
I have an associative hatch in a dynamic section bubble that updates as the arrow rotates around an ellipse.
Everything works fine until the block is scaled. The block is not annotative, and needs to be scaled to the drawing scale. Is this an autocad issue or am i doing something wrong?
Is there a way to set the drawing view to be associative or non-associative by default in my .idw template?

Are multileaders in 2011 not associative? I had to move a group of equipment off of a bulkhead to allow for insulation I did not know was there and when I went back to my layout, I had to reattach every arrowhead to its respective piece of equipment.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have been having a problem with our leaders for the last few weeks. We are running Acad2009LT and Acad2009 full versions. Our leaders are becoming non-associative. I made a drawing yesterday and was the only one editing the drawing. I made some leaders with text. I know they were working fine because I had to move some text and the leaders went with it. This morning when I opened the drawing. Some, not all, of the leaders that I made yesterday have become non-associative. I made some new leaders and they are working properly. Other people in the office have been having the same issue. Nothing has changed on our systems. We have been using the same program since 2009.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using autocad arch 64 bit on win 7 and am having problems switching out of xref classic so that the newer xref dialog comes up. i edited the SDI but then i cant close a drawing and opening creates more problems.
is there a way to get the xref dialog back?
Am using Autocad 2012 with SP2 downloaded, note the problem does not occur in Autocad 2013... So basically if you open the dwg you will see it opens in paperspace, the viewport is locked to a specific scale etc. Now go into model space where the dwg is, you should be able to zoom around, pan etc fine, problem is when you now go back into the layout or paperspace. You will notice that upon re-entering paperspace that the vport is highlighted, ie there is a thicker outline of the vport boundary, however am still in paperspace according to the tabs. When you now try zooming in or out using the mouse scroll you will notice an additional copy of the viewport is imprinted on the screen. Thats the problem. Doing a few undos will set you back right again.
So far we are inclined to think that its either something to do with the UCS or the units that the program is getting confused with but havent been able to find a solution. Also bear in mind that it seems to work fine in 2013. Its probably something really simple that we've missed but thought would try anyway Will attach the dwg file.
(Again) Switching the “data type” of the cell,I’m not sure why the AutoCAD doesn't allow changing the “data type” of the cell in the table for already existing data. For example, in the attached table, I wanted to switch the “data type” from “decimal number” to “percentages”, but sounds that the AutoCAD doesn’t allow this function.
In the Excel, for example, we can switch the “data type” easily by selecting the target cells and choosing the format we need! Quite simple, in the AutoCAD, it seems that it needs some work around!
When I work in large files (10,000 kb +) I experience significant delays when copying large amounts of information (copy a floor plan) or when switching between layouts or saving the dwg. I wish I could tell you it started right after I But I just recently started working with the larger files. So this could have been an issue from the time I bough the machine - 18 months ago.
it's either an issue with my graphics card or processor. I would like others to comment on their opinions on adjust my set-up to be more efficient
I believe I have the most current driver for the video card. Did I hear right somewhere that there is no good driver for the Quadro 4000 to work with 2012?
I asked this a long time ago but I'm hoping something has changed. If I have 2 Modelspace viewports is there any way to switch their contents? Right now I create 2 views and restore them in alternate viewports.

from model to layout 1 takes 2-3 seconds on my crappy computer, from model to layout 2 takes 8-10 seconds on the same crappy computer.
this sample i attached has a xref binded. which result is the same 3 and 8 seconds respectively.
you may think this is not a big deal. but layout 1 will take 10 seconds to to switch to if you have 5 xref while layout 2 will take a minute.
i did my research and haven't find the difference in variables between the two paperspace layouts.
tried all the variables made no difference:
psltscale, msltscale, celtscale, savefidelity, etc.
also set both viewoprts to undefined same thing.
the only difference is "1" is created from a blank autocad template by selecting "metric - no template", and "2" is imported from a civil 3d dwg after done a plan/profile production and that thing created that layout.
is there a tool to compare all variables between 2 layouts and find the differences? i am certain the problem lie within system variables.

When switching from layout to model space, and back again, and when switching layouts the regen is slow to an extreme, upwards of (3) minutes. Using Renenall in layout, the regens are quite slow as well. Windows 7, AutoCAD 2011, NVIDIA Quadro FX1800, most current driver.
Additionally, when publishing, the regens are equally slow. LAYOUTREGENCTL setting seems to have no affect.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen using the undo command, plotting or switching between drawings in Autocad 2010 and now also 2011 I am experiencing long delays of up to 15-20 seconds at a time which is rather frustrating. I am running a fast spec computer and can't seem to overcome it, I haven't had the problem with 2009 and when need to do something quickly have found myself using the outdated software. Other users in the same office have equal or lesser spec computers and are not having the same issues, I have tried a re-install and this hasn't worked either. I was hoping the new 2011 version would solve this issue but no luck.
View 9 Replies View RelatedApplication manager shows an update to 13.0.2; installing gives the aforemention error. This same error has presented itself previously with extensions manager. The workaround was to download directly from adobe and install - which worked for EM. Does not work for photoshop. Checking for updates within Photoshop CS6 extended finds no updates.
Per the update page, this update provides support for retina displays which sadly is not on my current MBPro. It seems the similar errors are migrating to other installers now. It wouldn't be so bad if the past workaround remained.Naturally, this could be a problem not well commented, as the Illustrator update provides a "not applicable" to this machine response.
I'm wondering if it is possible to filter/show only parameter values which are only applicable to that parameter. So no parameter values belonging to other parameters in a family. This to avoid that users are selecting wrong values. For example a door with several text parameters. See also the screendump.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a large transparent hatch in one drawing and copied it into 2 other drawings for use. 2 out of the 3 drawings plot to dwf and then to a plotter or pdf as expected but the 3rd dwf looks good until you plot that to a plotter or pdf; then it turns solid, masking everything underneath it.
additionally, if I go straight from CAD to pdf or plotter the transparency is removed as well.

I tried copying everything to a new drawing with no luck.
I have this drawing will all hatches, the red hatch in the middle is the same hatch around it, ANSI34, with scale of 120. just because the boundary is too small it show as SOLID.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use a user-defined hatch often - just 45 degree lines say 4" apart in model space. In 2009 I could make this annotative and the paper distance between those lines would remain the same as long as I made sure the hatch had the appropriate annotive scales associated with it.
In 2012 when I try to do the same thing, the hatch stays at the same Model space spacing in every viewport even though the viewports have different annotative scale AND the hatch has matching annotative scales.
I'm having problems with creating PDF's and transparency hatching using DWG to PDF.pc3.
The PDF does show transparency but has a fine lined pattern at intervals in the hatched area, it does print just fine though with no evidence of the lined pattern. Only problem is most of our work is supplied as high quality PDF.
I prefer to use DWG to PDF.pc3 due to the excellent quality of the PDF. I have played with modified Adobe PDF.pc3 to mostly remove the lines from the hatch but quality suffers in the bitmapping of the document.
I am using AutoCAD Map3D 2011 and AutoCAD 2011 on a windows 7 boxes and Acrobat X Pro. I get this problem with normal solid hatching and SHP file polygon transparency.
Are they any secret/magic settings to fix solid hatch transparency using DWG to PDF.pc3?
Same hatch properties but different result! How come?
