How to create points at the vertices of the lines in the regular AutoCAD? ’m wondering if there is a way to automatically create points at the vertices (or only at the end points) of existing lines (or polylines)?
Is this possible in the regular AutoCAD?
I need to create points with surface elevations along sample lines. The points need to represent the verticies one would see in the section editor. I've attached an image of my section editor for one of my sample lines. I need to create points that represent these 24 verticies along this sample line and do so for the rest of my sample lines as well. Is there an automated process to create these points?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have borehole data of a site, where I want to sort of extrapolate the borehole data to the whole site, so that I can have a 3D soil model of the whole site. I have attached my DWG file, the vertical lines represent the borehole data and different colors represent different types of soil.
I'm thinking of manually extrapolating the data to the edges of the site, then split the site area into few different parts, and then create solids for each part, where each point is a vertices of a solid. But how to create a solid from 8 vertices, which would naturally form a closed solid like a box.
Besides this, are there any other methods of achieving what i want (3D soil model from borehole data)?
I have 4 points (from "Points from file", I created Points #1, #2, #3 and #$ in the non-linear fashion).
1) I want to create 4 straight lines (connecting Pt#1-Pt#2, P#2-P#3, P#3-Pt#4, P#4-P#1) by using some Commands. What Commands in the Command Line should I use to create these 4 straight lines from these 4 points?
2) I want to create 1 parcel (connecting Pt#1-Pt#2-Pt#3-Pt#4-Pt#1) by using some Commands after "Parcel Creation Tools" => Draw Tangent-Tangent with No Curve is clicked. What Commands should I use in the Command Line to specify these points to form a parcel?
I cant start drawing an object from anywhere else( ie. inside a grid) except form the points where grid lines intersect. How do i go back to old system? I need to get some work done fast.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of hundred 3D Polylines which have point crosses at each vertex. Any way to remove these point crosses that fall on the 3D Polylines.
(IF 3D point vertex = any 3d Polyline vertex THEN delete)
Reason I can't just filter out the points and delete is that there are points that don't fall on Polylines which I want to keep. All points are on the same layer. Polylines are on various layers. Data is from a 3D topographical survey.
I know there are different ways to do this. Would like to know multiple options so I can see which might be quickest for me.
I have points with elevations and 2D plines at elevation zero drawn between them.
I would like 3D plines instead. This is the easiest way for me to transfer them to another drawing where I will make surfaces with them. I don't want to have to transfer the points over.
I can redraw the plines as 3D plines but this is time consuming and seems unecessary.
I don't want to have to convert them to Feature Lines either. I prefer they be 3D polylines.
Is there a simple command for this? I already have a surface containing the points and lines as surface breaklines.
Is there a project objects to surface command that will make these 2D plines at elev 0 into 3D plines while assigning elevations (and vertices) only at the current vertices?
What about a simple series of commands to convert the 2D plines to 3D plines, then force the 3D pline to take on the elevations of the points at its vertices? (I think this would be my preference, but don't know any of these commands or where to find them.)
I have csv file of co ordinates (x,y,z) I surveyed, I have to produce progress drawings showing stockpiles, boundary etc. , which I can do easily enough by uploading the co ordinates. I would like to include contour lines in the drawing but how to go about it. I have spent a while searching online & I'm even more confused, most discussions refer to TINs and triangulation but not sure how to go about it. I have a survey of the site survey csv file prior to any works carried out & that is what i would like to base my contour lines on. The site is relatively flat, about 4 acres in size, relatively even rectangle shape with fall of 200mm from north to south & fall of 2.5m from east to west.

The “list” command does give the coordinates of the vertices of the polyline while these data can’t be extracted by using the command “Extract Data”.
Is there some workaround to have the vertices of the polyline extracted in a table?

How do I make the Qleader retain 3 vertices when I stretch the vertices? It's fine if I do not enter any text with the command and then create separate MText, but I'd like to use the command as it's written. However, if I start stretching the endpoints around on the screen, I will end up with extra vertices in the line, and I cannot get rid of them.

With lightwave I could select vertices and then press the "P" key to create a polygon from the selected verts.Now, with max I have found the "create" feature. When using an editable poly, in poly select mode, I select the "create" button and this allows me to do 2 things:
1 - I can create a poly out of nothing by clicking empty space
2 - all verts from existing objects become visible and I select the verts I want to create a new poly.
These seem like really cool tools, if it wasn't for one small detail..With "#2" if I engage the create button, and select a vert - I can no longer rotate around the object and look at it from different angles (by pressing alt+center mouse) UNTIL AFTER I have created the new polygon.
This small detail is kind of annoying because with certain intricate models, I may need to move it around to get to the next vert in line. The only way for it to work, it to make sure I can clearly see ALL verts needed for the new poly with no other geometry or objects obscuring them before starting the create button.
Is it not possible to simply go into "vert selection mode" select a collection of verts (in doing so, be able to rotate around the object between making the selections) and then after I have made my selections simply click a button or key to create a new polygon from the selection?

How can I create a face between already existing vertices? This would really improve my workflow.
I was wondering if there is a way to create a group of vertices, edges or faces and somehow create a reference point or attach them to some kind of locator so they can be referenced at a later point. I want to be able to select a group of edges, model them and then move on to another task within Maya and have some kind of reference point so I can go back to the original group and not have to select them individually every time I want to work on that group of edges, faces or vertices, is this possible? I will post a picture shortly to this post so you can see an example of a specific group of edges that I would like to set a reference point or locator for.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am doing a simple project making a survey plot for a piece of land that will be broken into subdivision. all measurements are of my starting point. after plotting the starting point i try to draw line that is 113 feet long and at a bearing of N 5d W i have no problem entering this data but when i hit enter it draws a straight line. now i know 5 degrees is much of an angle so i thought maybe it just looked straight and tried to plot the next point which was 542 feet from the last point at a bearing of N 39d E but once again after i put the info in and hit enter or space it would plot a line of the proper length but vertical, not the proper angle i need it at. here is how i would put in the info:
first i choose the lne command and choose my "beginning point" as that starting point for my line then i type 113<N 5d W for the length and direction and hit enter. when i do this it plots a vertical line of the proper length but wrong angle. what am i doing wrong? i have ortho set to off and idk what else to mess with
I was trying for an option with wipeout mask.
Is there any option with wipeout to turn the continuous lines into dotted lines instead of hiding the object? I have been working on one staircase block, i want to show half block as a dotted lines.. is there any way to do that without going in to the block edit and change? thats why am looking for wipeout mask option.

Problem with command from Home tab - Draw panel - Curves drop-down - Create Curves Between Two Lines OR Create Curve on Two Lines.
If you select the Degree option, it draws a zero length curve when you type in a valid number for degree of curve. I have tried entering it in decimal format and as ##d##'. NOTHING WORKS!
How do I draw 2D lines from points? What setting do I need to change? I want to drawin glines using the node as a grip but I do not want them to have z coordinates.

View 1 Replies View Related[URL] When I use a point on an existing geometry as reference to place a new line or shape, I get a strange result when attemting to move either geometry.
As you can see in the video the two shapes will BOTH move when only ONE is selected.
Also, it seems that the shape/ lines that are not selected but still move are anchored somewhow which causes distortion.
