Jun 12, 2013Why does my new lines all show their vertices, even if they arent selected? I dont want the vertices to show when the lines isnt selected.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Hide Hidden Lines By Block
Mar 2, 2013I"m using AutoCAD Electrical 2013 but this is more of a general CAD question.
I'm working with floor plans from another company, the drawing contains xref for the floor plans and other blocks. I need to label some of our equipment. I'm simply using a DTEXT label inside a rectangle as a block with the text as an atribute.
I'd like to place the label on the floor plan and have it hide anything underneath. I do this with 3D blocks for other work, but I'm looking for a quick and dirty solution.

Mar 12, 2013I am manually editing my section geometry by moving the grips and am wanting to remove some of the additional vertices that I don't need in a certain area. How to delete extra points? I can't seem to find a way to do this either graphically or in the Section Editor. I am using C3D 2010.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Points At Surface Vertices Along Sample Lines
Jan 9, 2013I need to create points with surface elevations along sample lines. The points need to represent the verticies one would see in the section editor. I've attached an image of my section editor for one of my sample lines. I need to create points that represent these 24 verticies along this sample line and do so for the rest of my sample lines as well. Is there an automated process to create these points?

Mar 25, 2012I am using AutoCAD 2008... just 2-D design, nothing fancy.
When I draw porches with railings, I often spend many minutes trimming out the objects behind the railing. So if my metal top rail is 1" thick (running horiz) and my vertical rails are 1" wide, 5" on center, I have to trim out all the lines inside those 1" rails.
I received an Autocad file from another designer not too long ago that had some sort of clear fill inside his rails, so the rails hid what was behind it (but it was not colored fill, black or white, or whatever... it matched the background color). If I erased the rail, the window behind it was there in it's entirety.
I tried to 'erase' the fill, but it does not seem to be there. I am so tired of spending 20-30 minutes per house just trimming out the doors and windows behind.
AutoCad 2D :: How To Hide Lines Partially
May 25, 2012I am using acad2010, with medium expertise. I want to hide some part of lines so as to indicate the part is behind some object. I don't want to break the line as I need to create separate sketches for the same, or needs to list for the properties.
Refer attached drawing, fig 1 shows the actual model and fig 2 shows how I required when i print it.

May 16, 2011Is there any way to hide construction lines in Part & Assembly sketches in the same way you can in a Drawing sketch?
I know you can change the line colour to the background colour but this makes the lines invisible in sketch as well.
Not being able to hide the construction is making some layouts pretty pointless since relevant detail is obscured by the construction lines. Grounding the geommetry and deleting the construcion lines isn't an option since the sketches are part of the design development and not fixed.

Jun 27, 2012While working in a drawing, I noticed that my leaders looked a little odd. They had ALL lost their verticies and upon further investigation I realized that the mtext is no longer attached to the leader (i.e. when you select text and grab the grip and move, the leader, text end, does not follow). Start a new leader command, and all is well with the new leader and text but the old leaders remain disconnected.
This is a new file originated in 2013. Audit was 0. Restarted AutoCad, checked a bak file and auto-save, no changes to mleader settings or attachments. I do no recall executing any out of the ordinary commands or changing settings.

Mar 1, 2013I would like to create an effect similar to punching/stamping something in wet sand. Picture this... you have a punch/stamp and it says "Hello". You punch it into the wet sand at the beach and it keeps the form of the punch/stamp. You can see the interior angles/shapes, but not the exterior as it is part of the rest of the beach I want to be able to create that effect in a graphic/drawing.
If you want to look at it another way:
Say you have a glass. You also have a hole in the table to hold the glass. Once in the hole, you see only the very top of it and the inside of the glass... but that which is below the table is not seen. If looked at from above, you can see the interior that is below the table, but not the exterior.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Hide Situation - Missing Geometry
Jun 6, 2012I'm having a recurring issue with using hide situation. Steps are detailed below and an example file is attached.
Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit SP1
Sketched all the geometry.Used hide situation to hide the portion of the fittings that reside within the clamps.Copied the clamps and fitting ends to each end of an elbow.Had an issue with item selection and used the audit command on the drawing. Following this the audit says there is a problem with the program and I should restart.
Restarted the program and any line that was effected by the hide situation is now missing.Attempted to open the backup file and the hide situation lines are also missing.
This has happened multiple times with different drawings, but the effect is always the same, all the hide situation data is now missing and I've lost a significant amount of work. The AM_3 layer created by hide situation is still there, but has no geometry.

Dec 18, 2012We just started using autocad 2013 after many years on autocad 2005. I am working on a 3d model, and whenever I do a "HIDE" command, everything looks OK, but I can't select anything until I do a regen. This was never a problem in 2005. Some of the drawings I work on are quite intense and using the hide command would definitely work with selecting the proper objects. Why can't I select or find endpoints or centers any more after doing a hide?

May 15, 2012I have a drawing with multiple view ports and multiple raster images
I can shut the image frames off with "Imageframe" )(tframes) this works fine But it does not turn off the viewport frames.
I've tried putting the viewport on it's own layer and freezing the layer. This looks OK on the screen, the frames are gone. But the plot preview shows there are no images showing in any viewport.
How can I just turn off the viewport frames so when plotting I can see what's in the viewport.

Maya Modeling :: 2013 Is Not Selecting All Vertices?
Aug 17, 2012lets say I marquee select the vertices on a cube in an orthographic view (top view or side view) only the vertices facing the camera get selected. And to clarify, CAMERA BASED SELECTION IS TURNED OFF. Also, not sure if it is related, but backface culling in preferences is also turned off. This usually will not happen in perspective view; but yesterday it did start happening in perspective view as well. And even more strange, it does not affect all meshes in the scene. Only some will react this way.
This bug only recently started happening and it is driving me nuts. I have been running 2013 on this machine since it was released, but not until recently did this bug start to occur; so I am wondering if I accidentally turned something on/off?
