I am wanting to hide certain objects on a layer in a layout so they dont show up when i print it out. Is there a way to do this? But I still want the objects to show up in other layouts all the time.

I do click on "hide all" but on every new creation I have the hints again......

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a .dwg file in AutoCAD 2013 , and on one specific layer (defpoints), I am not able to select any of the objects. Initially, I thought that the layer may have been locked or frozen, but it is not. Additionally, I went ahead and locked then unlocked the layer as well as froze then thawed the layer, still not able to select any objects on the layer.
My next attempt to fix the problem was to run the command "AUDIT", and instructed to "Yes" fix any errors detected. The command seemed to execute correctly, however, it did not do anything. The objects on the layer still cannot be selected.
Can you freeze text objects on the same layer in one viewport but have it still appear on the other viewport without having two separate layers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have three dwg files. Each of them have separate MrSID files (image files) attached by georeference. Each file also has one or more polylines and hatch objects on top of the image.
ONE of these dwg files is causing problems. EVERY SINGLE TIME I plot the dwg file, the hatch and lwpolyline objects are UNDER the image. So I have to copy the hatch on top of itself and delete the original--then do the same with the pline.
Is there a way to hide a layer within a block? For example, I have 3 layers within a block (Modules, ItemNo, & StudLoc). The block itself is of the layer 'Modules'. I need to hide the 'Modules' layer and the 'ItemNo' layer to just reveal the 'StudLoc' Layer.

I never use them and the horizontal one take too much space that hide some "tabs". I know I can "minimize" the horizontal one, but I have to do it every single time I start AutoCAD. View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to create an effect similar to punching/stamping something in wet sand. Picture this... you have a punch/stamp and it says "Hello". You punch it into the wet sand at the beach and it keeps the form of the punch/stamp. You can see the interior angles/shapes, but not the exterior as it is part of the rest of the beach I want to be able to create that effect in a graphic/drawing.
If you want to look at it another way:
Say you have a glass. You also have a hole in the table to hold the glass. Once in the hole, you see only the very top of it and the inside of the glass... but that which is below the table is not seen. If looked at from above, you can see the interior that is below the table, but not the exterior.

I need to animate the hide and unhide of a set of objects, I know I can use the visibility track to do this, but I have two issues with this, one, this will not hide it from the view while animating or looking at it in wireframe, which makes it difficult since I'm doing some previz and I need the object gone from the wireframe view... Two, there is an object (I bought them) that refuses to take the visibility track coming from the master object, and it does not have its own one, so I don't have a clue why it ignores it.
Also know that I can suddenly move the object out of the camera view, but was trying to see if there was something a bit more elegant than this, a script to animate the hide and unhide of a groped object would be the ideal thing, but searching the web for it didn't return anything useful.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several .dwg files that I use as templates. I run find and replace VBA routines on the template .dwg files, ie find $Flavor$ and replace it with "Grape", and then I save the .dwg to another directory with a new name.
These VBA routines work well for acdbText and acdbMText objects, but I have a bunch of AcdbAttributeDefinition objects in the .dwg templates as well.
After much research about the AutoCAD object model (I'm mostly a Microsoft Access VBA programmer), I have come to understand that these AcdbAttributeDefinition objects are actually "remnants" of a block that no longer exists in the drawing.
Anyway, I'd like to convert all of these orphaned AcdbAttributeDefinition objects to acdbText objects in the templates and then delete the AcdbAttributeDefinition objects. I have some code that does just that.
However, the issue that I am having with the code is that the newly created acdbText objects are not on the same layer that the original AcdbAttributeDefinition objects were on. I don't know the syntax to identify what layer the AcdbAttributeDefinition object is on or how to specify what layer on which the acdbText object is created.

I'm looking for a way to hide a layer in model space, but show it on ONLY my paperspace tab. Problem is, most of my work is in model space (different aspect of this drawing), and although I could pull the objects through to the paperspace tab, it just wouldn't be the way I feel it should be (3d objects should stay in model space imo). However, for the most part I don't need to see it in model space (except for checking 3d elevations of line segments), the finish product is a printed 2d top view.

Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit SP1
Sketched all the geometry.Used hide situation to hide the portion of the fittings that reside within the clamps.Copied the clamps and fitting ends to each end of an elbow.Had an issue with item selection and used the audit command on the drawing. Following this the audit says there is a problem with the program and I should restart.
Restarted the program and any line that was effected by the hide situation is now missing.Attempted to open the backup file and the hide situation lines are also missing.
This has happened multiple times with different drawings, but the effect is always the same, all the hide situation data is now missing and I've lost a significant amount of work. The AM_3 layer created by hide situation is still there, but has no geometry.

I'm working with floor plans from another company, the drawing contains xref for the floor plans and other blocks. I need to label some of our equipment. I'm simply using a DTEXT label inside a rectangle as a block with the text as an atribute.
I'd like to place the label on the floor plan and have it hide anything underneath. I do this with 3D blocks for other work, but I'm looking for a quick and dirty solution.
We just started using autocad 2013 after many years on autocad 2005. I am working on a 3d model, and whenever I do a "HIDE" command, everything looks OK, but I can't select anything until I do a regen. This was never a problem in 2005. Some of the drawings I work on are quite intense and using the hide command would definitely work with selecting the proper objects. Why can't I select or find endpoints or centers any more after doing a hide?

I can shut the image frames off with "Imageframe" )(tframes) this works fine But it does not turn off the viewport frames.
I've tried putting the viewport on it's own layer and freezing the layer. This looks OK on the screen, the frames are gone. But the plot preview shows there are no images showing in any viewport.
How can I just turn off the viewport frames so when plotting I can see what's in the viewport.
I have created a Field expression inside a multiline text to extract a block attribute value, but i would like the --- value that it shows when there is no data to be extracted from the block to be invisible.
is there a Diesel expression for this?

It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
