I am an AutoCAD user, not a Computer wiz, so the "obvious" isn't always so, to me.
I have my Office AutoCAD set up the way I like it.
I have an AutoCAD at Home that I'd like to have the screen appear the same.
How and Where do I find my Workspace settings?
How and Where do I put it at Home?
I have been trying to figure out how to copy a Layout from one DWG to another. I know there are several threads about this, and I have tried the methods they reccomend, but I am having an unusual problem.
I have been trying to open a Layout by using the "from Template" option for creating a new Layout, then opening the DWG containing the desired Layout. It works, but everything drawn in model space ends up compressed into the lower left corner and there is nothing in model space. So, the paper space information from the Layout is being imported, but the drawing info is getting mixed up somehow.
I have tried using the Design Center with identical results.
I am doing electrical drawings with the architect giving me an exported DWG from Vectorworks. I have XREF the background drawing that when opened is about 6 blocks of the building background and 2 blocks of the electrical devices.
Here is the problem: The architect sent me an updated DWG that only has the electrical updates without any backgrounds. My thought was to purge all and then select all the items and then copy with basepoint. Then open the original architects XREF drawing. Select those two electrical block, erase them (or move them to the size a fixed distance). Then paste as block from the other file. Then move the block to the correct location, explode, done.
Big problem: I just tons of this error in the command line referencing different block group numbers being ignored:
Duplicate definition of block Group-1265-1 ignored.
Then the block that was pasted added a background that wasn't in the old drawing and many of the items in that block was either missing or still had the old symbols. Can't figure out how to update the background with confidence that it is really updated with new information and not keeping old.
If I open a new drawing and paste that block in, everything comes in perfectly
I attempted to copy with base point some blocks from one drawing to another and got a blue screen saying physical memory dump, and then my computer restarted. I tried the same thing using the insert as a block, but had the same problem. I am using autocad 2012
I'm running Windows 7, it says with 8gig ram, and video card is a Intel(r)hd graphics family. The computer is less than 2 weeks old.
Got a question regarding copying in viewports that are in the paper space. Basically i have a model space where the whole drawing is kept and bunch of other paper space tabs/layouts that have viewports in them. Now the problem is when i have to do a quick fix in paper space, ill double click to go "inside" the viewport to i can edit it. While inside the viewport i would do CTRL-C on some objects or text and after that suddenly autocad would crash and windows would say Autodesk Application has stopped working, and you can only click cancel and when you do it just closes AutoCad. I dont know if this is a bug or is it due to memory management. I have 8Gb of Ram on the machine and running AutoCad 2012 LT.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some odd reason Autocad will not maintain my workspace customizations. For example I typically can customize my workspace by toggling which toolbars are shown and where they are placed. Then I can close autocad and when I start it again all the customizations are present. Now when I start autocad it loads the default workspace. I should have to customize my workspace every time I start autocad. I also shouldn't have to create any custom workspace profile or anything like that. AutoCad used to simply save any GUI customizations made automatically. I need it to get back to that.

After that I save in a new profile.
In this computer it's ok.
My custom CUI is an Enterprise CUI.
But when I go to another computer and install my custom menu using my profile saved.
I didn't see the tab I need in all standard Workspace.
Autocad add my custom workspace and everything is fine on my custom workspace.
We just upgraded to AutoCad 2013 and Cadworx 2013. I have set up a workspace in AutoCad, how can I copy the same workspace to Cadworx. There has to be a easy way to do this.

Main issue is frequent crashes of the AutoCAD software. Sometimes 10-12 time's in a day. Unfortunately their are no error messages, and I have yet to see any pattern in when and how it crashes.
The problems I can see are the workspace, and process memory of my system. The workspace does not load correctly. The Ribbon shows multiples of the every tab at least twice. All tabs show the commands but not the pictures associated with the commands. CUIload shows correct workspaces.
Second note is that my system runs the same .dwg file's at 2/3 the processing memory than any other identical systems I run AutoCAD on.
Third, through my digging and attempted solutions I found that the AcSignCore_.dll file was missing.
I have: re-installed 3D twice, updated graphics drivers on my system and run open close save hotfix as well as AutoCAD2010 update 2 for 64 bit system.
I want to copy my named WORKSPACE to another computer.
These computers are not connected.
I'd have to copy to a CD.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I switch tabs in my UI (I use Drafting and Annotation), they bug somehow and they don't upgrade visually. What I mean is that if I switch "Home" tab to "Annotate", it keeps showing "Home" tab maximized, but the if I click "Line" it would use "Multiline tool", as they occupy same space in corresponding tab. I can fix it temporarily by multi-clicking bar, but after next switch between tabs, it would bug again. I assume it is not hardware problem, as it used to work for me, then I reinstalled my OS and bug started.

I have run into a problem with AutoCAD 2010 while trying to copy paste within 2 different drawings. Copying blocks from 1 sheet to another causes this error message "_pasteclip *Invalid*" It wont let me copy in the blocks. Sometimes after that happens all i need to do is a regen command and it fixes it. Other times im forced to switch to model space and then back to paperspace which then lets me paste the objects. This is not isolated to my computer, it happens on other computers here in the office.

I have a drawing with a table on it that I need other people to be able to fill in. As they don't have access to AutoCAD I thought the best way would be to copy it into word and add the table in there. My problem is I can only get the contents of a viewport to copy if the visual style is set to 2d wireframe using the COPYLINK command. I need to use conceptual and a custom visual style. WMFOUT, JPGOUT and BMPOUT are the same as well. PDFs export ok but I'm having trouble copying to word through that.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using R14 which suits my hobby needs which are drawing model parts for photo-etching. I have started a new drawing for which I need parts from an earlier drawing.
The only way I have found to complete this task is copying to the clipboard, then pasting to the new drawing. I then find that I have an assembly rather than a collection of lines and circles etc and modification is not possible, eg, substituting a larger diameter or deleting one part of the drawing.
I just wanted to know is there any way, not to allow user to change, workspace or save workspace in another name.
we have 2 shifts of drafters in our company who work with one machine. Shift 2 always complain about user on shift one change panel and ribbons . we have a standard icon and panel , But you know some users have their own way which thinks is the best and always keep changing UI.
So I need to know is there anyway to lock acad.cuix or lock workspace.
Another problem i'm afraid!!! We had a problem with a drawing which came from an outside source, and some how set up the workspace of my colleague into inches instead of mm?! we managed to sort that (how - just randomly clicking!) but now they can only select one item at a time? they can select by dragging over the items but cannot individually select item by item

Problem is I am only seeing one the current drawing when I click on TOOLSPACE.

i am trying to copy paste an existing drawing to a new page but the limits are different, the copy comes smaller than the template border so am trying to fit the copy into the border page.

I am currently trying to draw a football stadium and I have copied the seats along the rows by using the array command. When I click on one seat it selects all the seats from the array. Is it possible to just select one seat incase the other stands don't have the same amount of seats?
