I have conducted a level survey on site and once I have loaded it in to aurtocad I need to copy them on to a drawing so can tell where abouts the level are in relation to the site. When I have done this I copy with base point and paste with coordinates but it comes up tiny compared to the drawing.

I applied a material (bitmap) which has the google map of my site to a plane to represent the construction site of a new building. But whenever I zoom in or pan, the image moves/rescales. How do I set this up so that the image is stationary?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to copy a phase from one level to the other. For example, on Level 1 I have walls that are Existing, Demo, and New Construction.
If I select the objects and copy to clipboard and paste the objects to another level they will all switch to New Construction. Is there any way we can have the walls remain the same phase when copied to another level?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to bust a floor plan up into 4 quadrants. Just so I don’t do anything to the original, typically I will copy the plan from one starting coordinate to my “construction document”, or working construction lines. Once I’ve made the copy, I typically use the construction line as a “Quadrant Marker” for match-lines, etc., etc., etc… My problem is that I cannot remove the construction lines from the new copy that I’ve made. Not only that, if I move the copy, or delete the copy, the construction lines now seem to be a part of the “new drawing”. The “Grip” is also listed as a “Constraint”.
“This Does Not Happen With AutoCAD2008, or Earlier Versions” so What is Wrong, or so Different with AutoCAD2011, or Later?

Currently there are a total of 3 viewports in an L formation. The fourth viewport, will go in the upper right. But first, I have to get these aligned.
I think the viewports themselves are fine enough. The problems arise because the model is in Model space so, construction line (as far as I can tell) didn't want to snap to a line, (on the model,) in Paper space.(vertical or horizontal) So, I can only see the construction line, in one viewport at a time. Which means, the construction line is not visible in the viewport immediately to the left. So, I can't extend the construction line across both viewports, to to snap them to the construction line.
I'm using C3D 2013. I received a survey drawing (unknown version) from a third party. I tried both xref'ing and inserting as block into my drawing and it was over 7,100' SW from my site. BUT when I copy from 0,0,0 in his drawing and paste 0,0,0 in my drawing, it lands on my site. If I xref my drawing into his drawing, it lands on his survey information. Why doesn't his drawing land on my site when I xref or insert as block?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm exploring the option of going from normal autocad and PDS (for our road designs) to fully using Civil 3D 2013.
Generally we only recieve a survey drawing as a 2d cad file with height points represented as 2d text.
In PDS all we need do is 'convert text to point' and create a ground model, this gives us a 3d ground mesh to work with.
In Civil 3d i've found 'movetexttoelevation' but now i'm stuck with adding a point at the node of the text object, and then I need to creat a surface model to overlay a 2d siteplan andstart creating our roads.
I have a survey for a residential property with all the coordinates which I input into CAD, using the tutorial on this site. @25<S25D14'36"E..etc
The house & property run in a NE/SW angle which isn't an angle I want to do work in. If I pivot the drawing so the house & lot are parallel with the screen the cursor takes on a new and weird shape.
I'm wondering if people do anything with the x/y coordinates or settings in the drawing? I thought a drafter told me there is a way to deal with this when setting up the drawing but I can't remember for the life of me.
I am using R14 which suits my hobby needs which are drawing model parts for photo-etching. I have started a new drawing for which I need parts from an earlier drawing.
The only way I have found to complete this task is copying to the clipboard, then pasting to the new drawing. I then find that I have an assembly rather than a collection of lines and circles etc and modification is not possible, eg, substituting a larger diameter or deleting one part of the drawing.
Here is my procedure.
1. Import survey point via ascii file into a new drawing call it Field-dwg.
2, Create a survey data base
3. Import all points in the the data base under import event.
4. open existing drawing, work-dwg, import points as needed from the Survey Data Base.
Problem : Survey points needs be renumber.
I goto field-dwg, and fix the points (renumber).
open survey data base for edit, and import Event, field-dwg/points/update : nothing happen
also try Import Event, field-dwg, survey points, update : nothing happen
so I re-import the points, all is good.
Then I goto work-dwg, and try to update the point, nothing happen.
I've been sent a survey drawing with elevations. The format is a block, but it's not a named block. Each entity has it's own block name. So, I'm having trouble getting at the elevations. I can't seem to export and get the elevation or Postion Z.
I've tried exploding these blocks, but all I get is a couple of polylines, and some text. Useless. I've attached a sample drawing with a couple of these points.
I imported survey data from a file into the drawing and created a surface from the points and figures. No problem. Engineer wanted to change the datum from assumed to known. At this point all figures have been copied to a new layer flattened and changed to 2D polylines in order to hatch. Then the figures reimported. I raised all the points with the edit datum and raised the figures with edit survey figures. Surface was adjusted and tweaked. Everything was fine. I open the drawing and all the figures are back at assumed datum and the points are on the right datum. Now when I tweak the surface it uses the bogus elevations from the figures. How can I get my figures to save the adjusted elevations?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an AutoCAD file which includes 3d points and lines which represent an existing ground survey. The scheme is approx. 8km and points are spaced in a dense grid. The survey was undertaken using aerial (Lidar) methods, before being rationalised using aerial imagary to identify linear features such as kerbs, fencelines, etc, which are included as 3d polylines. Items have been grouped by the surveyors and adopt individual cad layers and linestyles, etc.
Basically, I want to incorporate all of the points and all 3d polylines into my Civil 3d Survey database in order develop a roads design.
I've not used AutoCad for probably 15 years. I used it in my government job, but have forgotten many commands. I have inserted a building survey into a new DWG, and remember that I can find a dimension on that survey, and use it to begin a scale for the drawing, so that I may make additions to the building drawing.

We have 6 computers with Civil and Autocad.
Some users have no errors at all.
Some people only errors when executing it in Civil, som only when executing it in Autocad, some have it in both.

All the modelpace objects needs to be copied to a template. (the full code does more stuff but this is the critical part)
I have two drawings: one with lines, and one which includes maps (raster image) and point cloud of latitudes of the same area (elevation in meters). I'm trying to copy these lines from the other drawing into the map-drawing, but when I'm trying drag and drop, the mouse doesn't even go to the other drawing. I also made a block of the lines and tried to insert it, but it doesn't work either.

I can see where it is possible to manually unlock the points from the Survey Database to allow the user to edit the point. I'm not seeing a method or property in the API Help for 2013 to do the unlocking with code.
Also is it possible to convert a Survey Point to a regular Cogo Point through the code? Or do I have to delte the point and then recreate it as a COGO point? I think this will be my work around if the above doesn't work.
Is there a way to link the path of the survey data base in the drawing, so I do not have to set the working folder every time?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe used Furix BetterWMF 2013 to copy our drawings from AutoCAD 2013 to Word 2007. Never had a problem till we upgraded to 2013 for both products. Now when we paste the drawing into Word (for our product manuals) any Ohm symbols turn into Question marks.
I'm assuming the problem is not AutoCAD, as it displays correctly there.
I have text and arrows in paperspace that i can't get to display above the image which is in model space. i'm using draworder. i have tried sending text to front, sending image to back and also sending the Vports which display the image to back. i've also tried copying text out of the drawing and bring it back in and it still goes behind the image.

is there a simple way of converting a drawing from a complex draiwng including blocks/dynamic blocks so that it becomes effectively a dumb drawing of lines arcs and text.
the only solution i have is to convert the drawing to a pdf then convert it back to a dwg using a pdf to dwg converter.
the reason being i dont want my client to work out how i construct my drawings.
I am looking into using the Survey Database for the first time and noticed it linked back to the imported file from which the points came. However, my question is when the points are adjusted within the AutoCAD file is there a way for this adjustment to link back into the imported point file. I am trying not to have a situation where the data is different between the imported file and the autocad file.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have just recently updated our templates to use a new TTF font. We are a multi national office, and are running various machines in both Australia and China. We are all using windows 7. Autocad are all full versions but vary between 2010 and 2012.
We are trying to convert survey drawings from a standard font to the ttf, but for some reason, in the Chinese office only the decimal points disappear after the conversion. The same drawing when sent to the Australian office works fine and the decimal points are there. What to try here, as I am in Australia and can't even reproduce the issue the chinese office is having.
