Revit :: Copying Phases To Another Level

Jan 31, 2012

Is it possible to copy a phase from one level to the other.  For example, on Level 1 I have walls that are Existing, Demo, and New Construction.

If I select the objects and copy to clipboard and paste the objects to another level they will all switch to New Construction. Is there any way we can have the walls remain the same phase when copied to another level?

Revit :: Floor Openings And Phases

Oct 24, 2013

The issue is cutting an opening in an existing floor so that in only shows in a new phase.I have created a floor based generic family with an opening tool and added an edge liner as a sweep. It hosts onto the floor and cuts it OK (in section and 3D). BUT in plan view objects below dont show through - see blue dashed on the screen clip. You will see that the red dotted opening>vertical cut show the stair below OK. Have a go (floor opening lined.rfa) and tell me why the opening is opaque!

Revit :: Two Phases - How To Get Phase II To Be Grayscale

Apr 4, 2012

I have a project that has been completed in Revit.  The designed facility needs to be split into two phases due to budget constraints.  I have looked at creating two Phases - Phase I and Phase II.  However the tricky part is having Phase II display greyscaled.  Successful in having phase I greyescaled and displayed acordingly with Phase II.  I have looked at the phase filters, but unsucessful in getting phase II to be greyscale since it is future work in the order of the phases.

Revit :: Building Pads Don't Seem To Respect Phases

Nov 9, 2010

I have multiple building pads in a model because I have multiple phases to represent. The problem I'm having is that the pads are cutting the topo surface in all phases. When I check the properties for each pads they all appear to bel properly identified as being created in the appropriate phase and yet there doesn't seem to be any way to turn off the building pad for future work in the existing conditions. See attached image.

I suppose the other possibility is that the pads are not really in the views, but the topo, having been excavated in one view, stays excavated in all views and won't fill in?

how to disable the pads where and when they're not needed? I've tried hiding the pad elements in the views, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Revit :: How To Handle Worksets / Design Options And Phases

Apr 26, 2010

These are three separate question :

1. When I link A revit model (having different worksets) into B revit model, We can control the worksets visibility at the time of linking. We can select any workset to be switched off and it will not be visibility in any view. Can we controll it after linking and on the basis of views, i.e. Can we switch off any single worksets of a link file in a particular view. My understanding is that We can't control worksets of a link file in our main revit model.

2. If A.rvt contains deisgn options. can we link those design options to design options in B.rvt, Can we set the visibility of a view in B.rvt to see desired design option from A.rvt. My understanding is that revit link does not contains design options information.

3. Similar rules applies with Phases. We can't link phases from A.rvt with phases in B.rvt, Also can not controll the visibility of phases of a linked revit model.Seeks experts comments to confirm my belief. What are the nearest possible work around for these issues.

Revit :: Visibility By Level In 3D View?

Mar 9, 2012

Is there a way to set the visibility of elements in a 3D view according to the Level they are associated with?

The VG tab which opens the filter dialog provides a check box for the "Levels" category, and the relevant parameters are made available.

But I can not seem to create a filter rule which evaluates any of those parameters (name, elevation, etc...) to then isolate the visibility of those elements in the 3D view that either meet, or do not meet the criteria. Nothing seems to work.

To achieve a "similar" effect in a 3D view, I can use a Section Box, but that is a very clunky and imprecise way.I can also create a Shared Parameter for "Level" and perhaps filter successfully that way, but that seems redundant with the Levels intelligence already established.

Revit :: Stairs Below Level - How To Add A Cut Line

Apr 9, 2012

I noticed that Revit likes to show the entire stair going down.  This works for me in a lot of cases but I have a project that the second floor is showing the stair all the way down to the first floor, and there is another stair going from the second floor to the third that I really need to see.

Plan regions don't seem to allow me to add a break line below the second floor and see the stair from the second to the third floor. The floors are on and the view is set to hidden.

The attached png shows the up stairs in blue that I would like to see and the Down stairs I would like to cut at the landing.

Revit :: Level Not Showing In Section?

I've got a model and i created a new level as normal, propogated extents etc but when i created as section North to South (Vertical) in the model the level does not show. When i create a section from East to west (horizontal) then the level appears fine. I've tried creating many sections and this is always the case. If i select a level in the section and click on select all instances in entire project the number includes the additional level but i can't see it. It is not hidden in the view, not on a different workset or anything unusual...

Revit :: Filtering Schedules By Level?

Mar 15, 2011

I have an issue where filtering my framing member schedules per Level by, for example, Level equals LEVEL 3 causes the entire schedule to be filtered to empty.  We clearly have members constrained to and occuring on LEVEL 3.

The same happens when filtering for, say, at or above LEVEL 3, but interestingly not at or below LEVEL 3, in which case nothing happens -- that is, it still displays members clearly occuring only on and constrained to Reference LEVEL 5.

Revit :: Level Of Detail While Editing Family?

Mar 10, 2013

Revit 2013: Was playing around with sketching symbolic lines in a Generic Model family.  I added a line and changed its LOD to be visible in fine only.  Nevertheless, it was still visible in the family editor even when the view was set to coarse.

1) How can we verify visual behavior of a family while in the family editor if the objects visibility is not governed by LOD settings?  (BTW: The family performs correctly when loaded in the project, just not in the family editor).

2) Is the fact that LOD is ignored in the family editor by design or a bug?

3) Is there any visual cue that tells us that a particular line will be not visible at a LOD?

4) Should we be duplicating Ref. Level views in the family to keep things straight?

I have trouble showing Underlay for level view when dealing with in-place walls. Basically, they dont work with Underlays - nothing shows up (even in wireframe mode).

Please have a look at attached file, dropbox link: [URL] ....

There is a Blend wall that starts on Ground level and goes as high as Top level. When you check whats visible on different levels (and RCPs) everything is fine (views respond to changing cut level and so on) - but when you try to Underlay one of the level views - nothing shows up. Basic idea is to show top edge for tracing with Linework tool - so it shows as Overhead.
