I am familiar with older versions of autocad and now using autocad 2013.
i am trying to copy paste an existing drawing to a new page but the limits are different, the copy comes smaller than the template border so am trying to fit the copy into the border page.
how do i do this?
When I drag a text from one page to another, the text increases in size. Not sure why.

When I click on one seat it selects all the seats from the array. Is it possible to just select one seat incase the other stands don't have the same amount of seats?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe are copying our original files to a sub folder to make revisions that have only happened after bidding. We want to keep our original bid documents intact. I have created a sub folder called 'Confirmed Documents' and added Constructs, Sheets, Elements, etc.
I copied the files over and used the Reference Manager to repath the files. However, all of my schedules and room tags now use the 'NA' prefix because it is not reading the project information. How can i reconnect this folder to the project folder?
We used Furix BetterWMF 2013 to copy our drawings from AutoCAD 2013 to Word 2007. Never had a problem till we upgraded to 2013 for both products. Now when we paste the drawing into Word (for our product manuals) any Ohm symbols turn into Question marks.
I'm assuming the problem is not AutoCAD, as it displays correctly there.
I'm wanting to copy some elements from one drawing to a different .dwg file to make sure it's identical. I can't just simply use the COPY command. At least it didn't work for me.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI maintain our enterprise tool palette so all others have read-only access. I keep the entire tool palette structure on a network drive, of course, so all have access to it. This works fine for all networked desktop computers but we have several laptops that are not always networked so i have copied all the necessary files, including the entire tool palette structure, to the hard drives of these laptops every time i update the palettes.
I recently added a new tool/icon to our palettes so i copied the palettes directory structure from our network drive to the local hard drives but, even after an AutoCAD reboot, the new tool does not show up.
Is it a proper way of copy some details or layout from DXF files to CAD file? I received multiple(10 files, 2.5mb average) DXF file from source, and they need to input some layout of it to the base CAD Drawing file.My CAD file became huge (around 40mb) when I copy some of the layout from DXF. Do I need to save DXF file into CAD file before I copy some of their layout to get a lower file? I need to send the CAD file to the source for their copy.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy company just upgraded to 2013 from 2012, and we are having problems copying and moving dynamic blocks. As we try to re-insert the object(s) after using the copy or move command, they disappear from the screen. If we save the drawing and restart AutoCAD, the objects are there where we inserted them, but we cannot figure out how to make the objects reappear without restarting the program (Undo does not work).
The objects in question are dynamic blocks created with AutoCAD Civil3D 2012. We suspect this might have something to do with conflicts between the two different versions of AutoCAD but we're not sure. There are 5 or 6 of us who have this problem.
im currently using Autocad 2013 and it is running painfully slow when drawing lines and copying lines and objects... my experience on autocad is very minimal and how to speed things up a bit. also icons appear next to lines when i join 2 or more line, one for each join, but i suspect they may also be causing my drawing to lag.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just gave one of my drafters a new PC with AutoCAD 2013 and 2012 on it. We migrated the settings from her old pc with with 2012 to the new PC. All settings are correct except for the plotter. She had custom page setup that was used on all her drawings and that did not transfer. We setup a new one with the same settings but that requires us to reapply to every drawing.
Isn't there an easy way to do transfer these settings? If we choose the page setup most of the time it just goes back to none and a lot of the time it isn't even an option.
My drawings typically have 5-10 pages(layouts). The page setup on the layouts have the printer name set to my printer in my office. So I can pulish all layouts and print them all at once. I would like to be able to send these drawings to others with different printers and have them be able to print all layouts at once without going and and changing page setups or anything like that, its mostly non autocad people. How can I set this up?

I have just downloaded the 3 year trial of AutoCAD for students. I have managed to create a floor plan but struggling to amend the layout. First of all, I would like the page setup to be A3 but that is not an option on my Page Setup Manager as it will only connect to my printer size.
I am also trying to add a Title Block but again do not know what I am doing, or where to download template ones for free?
I'm currently using Autocad 2013 for Mac and having some problems with cad.
1. I can't change my page setup in layout view its showing me strange window where i can't click and do any changes.
2. when I'm trying to scale my drw in 1:10 my page is A1 size its scales way to big so it doesn't fit the page.
Using Autocad - I am not a designer or engineer so have no experience using the software. I am working on a translation of an autocad file. However when I open the document I can only see the 'front page' of the document and Can't find any way to navigate through the different pages (even if I know there should be a lot more than 1 page)
I realise it sounds like a stupid request, but as mentioned, I have no experience with this software.
getting consistent crash when clicking on "new" in page setup manager dialog box.
Happens regardless of which drawing is open. Even for new blank drawings.This prevents me from creating new pagesetup overrides for Publishing. MAJOR PROBLEM.
At this point I have to get other people in the office to create new page setup for me. Editing existing page setups works find, only the "new" setups are a problem.
AutoCAD 2013 (G.114.0.0 SP 1.1), Windows 7.
Also, AutoCAD internal crash reporter is not called. Goes direct to Win 7, "Application has stop working" dialog.

Our company as a .ctb file that has been in use for some time. I have upgraded to 2013 and now...
When I open up old files that contain sheets and page setup.
If I attempt to "Modify" or "Create New" Page setup "Page Setup Manager" goes into lock down and freezes everything.
I am unable to change the setup to re-assign the proper .ctb.
I checked with a new document and I am able to access and use the right .ctb.
This is duplicated on everyone of the machines in our office that has 2013 running on PC.
The one machine with Autocad for Mac 2013 works just fine.
right now we out of four computer, we only have one computer running 2008 that do any printing or PDF'ing.
I tried changing the .CTB to an .STB, with no success. Changing the color space does not appear to work.
Is there a problem with my .ctb file that makes it not compatible with 2013?
When I try to switch to a different layout in a drawing AutoCAD will switch to a different drawing. Then I have to go and get back to that drawing to do anything to the layout.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to plot a drawing on a tabloid sheet. I don't remember how to do so.Heres is what I have tried:
I went to "Page Setup Manager" in the options from right clicking on the Layout tab and then went to modify. From there I chose my Paper Size as "ANSI B (17x11 Inches). Then from the "What to plot" tab I chose extents and when I preview the print it doesn't incorporate the whole drawing, but only a portion of it. It does the same thing if I choose the other options (window, layout, etc...).
Copied the printer configuration (pc3 and pmp) from AutoCAD 2013 to AutoCAD 2012. Plot the same drawing with that same printer configuration. With AutoCAD 2013, it plots out fine - page orientation landscape. In 2012, it plots out wrong. The orientation of the drawing is correct, but the paper is changed to portrait?
The plot setting are exactly the same in both versions.

Is there a way to remove the *Model* page setup entry from the list of Page Setups in the Page Setup Manager? This is the first time I am seeing *Model* in the list, and I suspect that it the reason I am not able to generate a PDF for this particular drawing. When I try, I get the following error:

I have this idea that removing *Model* from the list will do it. In addition to causing PDF creation failure, I believe it is also responsible for forcing the Model to always be in the Publish list, even though I have unchecked the "Include model when adding sheets" option. I can remove it from that list manually, but it comes back every time.
I quite often need a separate ruler scale on each page of a multi-page document. The only way I know how to do this is to create a separate document for each drawing that requires a new scale.
I request that you add the ability to change the ruler scale on a per page basis within a single multi-page document.

All rows required to create a book of running information.
If I use a label type approach some rows have less data making the layout uneven (unsuitable for the project)
Is there a way to merge with a fluid result ?
Ie row one takes up 2 lines Row 2 takes up 5 lines Row 3 takes up 1 line etc

Several times a week I need to take a PDF (single-page doc), then convertto a page-sized PNG with quality good enough to read the text (and atransparent border), and then convert to a SWF. I have a PNG-to-SWFutility, but when I used it on the PNG saved after I opened my PDF andexported from GIMP, the end result was not good enough. A co-worker saidGIMP couldn't make a PNG (w/transparency) with enough quality. He said we'dhave to use some other software. Part of the issue was not being able toresize without losing quality before the PNG export. True or false?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter moving a page in my document the master page elements no longer display on screen or in print. If I move the page to a different location in the document the master displays but if it is in the specific position that it needs to be it will not display. The document has multiple Masters and others do work on the page but the one that I need will not. I've tried deleting the page and adding a new one and that does not fix the problem. I've checked and "Hide Master Items" is not checked. The page in question is in position 48 with F-Master applied. If I move it to position 49 it works, 50, it works, 51, or any other it works. If I apply a different master to the page, it works. If I delete the page, add a new page and apply F-Master it still does not work. The only page that this problem is happening on is page 48.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
If it's a bug, then I cannot believe it wasn't caught before the release. So here it is. I simply put artistic text down on page 1. Select the text and copy to clipboard. Add a new page and paste the text. On my computer, the text changes from artistic text (as copied to clipboard) to paragraph default text left justified across the center of the page. It doesn't matter how much text I select, it always pastes on the new page as paragraph text left justified and across the center of the page.
However, if I select artistic text and any other object, copy and paste to a new sheet, it works erectly. Apparently, I now have to select text and an object to insure that the paste feature works properly?
