AutoCAD 2010 :: Add Drop-down Style Buttons To Classic Workspace
Jun 17, 2013
Is there a way to add drop-down style buttons to the AutoCAD Classic workspace similar to the ones found in the 2D Drafting and Annotation workspace? (Ex. Drawing Circles, etc.)
We have 3 to 4 workspace settings in Autocad in which I am using Autocad classic setting. I have made Autocad classic seeting current and default in workspace setting but nowdays i am facing problem that while opening Autocad, drafting and annotation setting overcomes and always opens with drawing. I am unable to set Autocad classic style permanent.
How to add the Autocad Classic option into my workspace pulldown. I only have Architecture as an option and I can't get the traditional tool bar display.
I'm new to AutoCad Map 2011. If I recall correctly from the last time I used a map product (3D 2006) there were map tools available from the drop down menu. I have set my workspace to map classic but cannot locate any map tools. I've tried entering the command "CUI" but cannot locate any map tools there either. I was most interested in coordinate systems, I read about the coordinate tracker in 2011 but I cannot locate that either.
I just installed Autocad Architecture 2013 only to learn that Autodesk once again is hard at work making our lives difficult. For some reason they seem to want us ALL to use the ribbon. The ribbon in my opinion is HORRIBLE. I MUCH prefer the classic workspace since I do not use many toolbars and I key in the vast majority of my commands. As such, I get rid of the ribbon because it takes up too much space considering the fact that I only use a handful of buttons from the ribbon. But Autodesk has thrown a bunch of obstacles in my way.
1. Type "ribbonclose" - this closes the ribbon.
2. Type "cui" - this bring up the Customize User Interface dialogue box.
3. Right click on workspaces. Enter a new name for your new workspace.
4. (optional) Right click on toolbars to make your own. Then drag and drop commands from below into your new toolbar. You may also notice that you no longer have toolbars, soooo..
5. Type "menuload" - things brings up the Load/Unload Customizations dialogue box.
6. Click "Browse".
7. Select the first file ending in ".cuix". Click "Open". Click "Load". If you get an error message don't worry.
8. Repeat step 7 for each and every file ending in ".cuix".
Now you have tool bars and menus. However, the Express menu may STILL not work.
9. Then visit this webpage:URL.... to get the Express menu working.
10. Close autocad. and re-open autocad.
11. Set up your screen the way you like it.
12. Either click on the workspace switching icon on the lower right portion of your screen or type "workspace" and select "Save Current As".
13. Save your workspace with whatever name you like.
i having a fully working ribbon in ACAD2013. it is a registered dll that is originally coded in vb.net.
unfortunatley the functionality is only visible at the drafting & annotation workspace but is desperatly needed in classic workspace mode.
for hours i am trying to find a way to make my functionality working in classic workspace too.
is it possible to extend the classic workspace in acad2013 with my functions? if so, how, or where can i get more detailed information to solve my task.
Is there any way to restore the classic undo/redo buttons (with r-click functionality) without the need to load the 2009 UI preset? I have Max 2013 already set up with a fairly complex custom UI so I don't want to have to recreate that after loading the 2009 style preset just to get my undo/redo buttons back. The ones in the Customize menu don't support the multiple undo/redo via right-click.
And while I'm on the subject...is there any way to simply get rid of the irritating Quick Access Toolbar? I find it telling that whoever designed it put a save button next to the undo. Shows they never worked in production
recently i have installed autocad 2011 in my pc. but some toolbars are missing like layer, draw line, multiline, polyline rectangle ( which are the usual feature of classic autocad 2004 or 2007). how i will find the classic toolbars in autocad 2011.
I am using autocad arch 64 bit on win 7 and am having problems switching out of xref classic so that the newer xref dialog comes up. i edited the SDI but then i cant close a drawing and opening creates more problems.
I recently upgraded from 2007 to 2012 and the entire look and feel of the program is different. Like Microsoft, AutoCad has "upgraded" everything so overnight i have managed to go from marginally competent to totally inept!
I really really would like to know if it is possible to switch back to the classic view with the old tool bars and commands.
I installed AutoCAD 2012 on a 32 bit windows 7 workstation but I received an error message."Cannot find acad.cuix customizastion file".I tried repairing the installation but it couldnt..I tried unistalling but won't uninstall..The machine was running previous versions of AutoCAD.
Is it possible with the hatch command to be able to select objects first instead of picking an internal point?I looked at this thread first which covers the same problem but not sure if there ever was a solution. URL....
HPDLGMODE is currently set to 2, I tried setting it back to 1 but that brings up the hatch popup window as it does in Classic mode and 0 does the same thing as 2.
I want to print grayscale but our logo in colour. I have set up all of the style colours to drop into AutoCAD and match our current AutoCAD drawing standards as far as I can see, I have a couple of options
1. Save as Autocad and print from there
2. Remove our sketched logo and embed a raster, (not keen on), then select the "all colours as black" option when printing, (still doesnt give me greyscale)
3. copy the sheet and manually change each dimension, note, view etc to a different standard, copy back to sheet 1 and use a rule to turn different layers on and off, (sounds like hard work)
How others handle the lack of printing options. Again, I am dismayed by the lack of coherency between Inventor and AutoCAD, the sales pitch is such BS.
Running AutoCAD 2009 on Win 7, how do I get a drop down box for text style control, similar to my dim style control etc, onto my toolbar at the top? I've tried clicking on customize and dragging it but it won't move. Other users of Acad 2009 in our office have it but I can't see how to add it to the toolbar, only the icon?
I work with a AutoCAd drawing that's been drawn in LisCad, then Output to AutoCAD for continuing work.
I want to use a font that a collegue used on his drawing (he used Microstation but all our drawings are first done in LisCad), I have it in the AutoCAD font library, but for some reason it doesn't show under properties in the STYLE drop box in my drawing... Is that because my drawing comes from Liscad?
I guess I can copy a word from another AutoCAD drawing to get it in, but if I can get in into my drop list it would be handy!
I am trying to make some custom buttons to change some text to a different layer and then change the text height.
I cannot figure out the command line alias for "Text Height" to enter it into the macro.
I have tried the "scaletext" command but I cannot figure out how to add this command to the "Chprop" command on the macro line. The command seems to stop before performing both actions. What am I missing? Here is the button macro so far ^C^Cchprop;la;GasAban;c;g;;scaletext;c;s;12;;
I have a graphic that needs a drop shadow angle of 142, and text that needs a drop shadow of 120. If I change one, the other changes! Even if I create one in another .psd file and drag it over, its drop shadow angle changes to match the one already in the file.
I almost always work with multiple drawings in the same Autocad window. Often (maybe 2/3rds of the time?) when I have one drawing maximized inside the Autocad window, the minimize-downsize-close buttons disappear from that drawing's window. The only way to get them back is to cascade the windows.
For some odd reason Autocad will not maintain my workspace customizations. For example I typically can customize my workspace by toggling which toolbars are shown and where they are placed. Then I can close autocad and when I start it again all the customizations are present. Now when I start autocad it loads the default workspace. I should have to customize my workspace every time I start autocad. I also shouldn't have to create any custom workspace profile or anything like that. AutoCad used to simply save any GUI customizations made automatically. I need it to get back to that.
We just upgraded to AutoCad 2013 and Cadworx 2013. I have set up a workspace in AutoCad, how can I copy the same workspace to Cadworx. There has to be a easy way to do this.
I created a new work space and under my new workspace shows only the Express Tools. How do I load all the others? If I go into any of the default workspaces all the tabs shows.
I'm working on a simple website for my brother's company where the designers gave me several PSD documents to slice up and arrange into HTML, PHP or whatever I choose.
He'd like to do a drop-down style menu that "kicks out" horizontally to the right (please see attachments).
how to deal with this while keeping the look of the original look and feel? As I was slicing up the PSD, I thought about making a slice that is the size of the fully-extended menu (second attachment) and make it into its own table that defaults to the "background" image or conditionally (JavaScript on-click?) displays the images in a three-row table with the images hyperlinked as expected.
I'm sort of an old-school web developer who still tries to do most of my work in HTML, ASP and JavaScript (although I'm very interested in getting into some PHP).
Is there a command / system variable to set all buttons on every panel in the ribbon to have a button style of "smallwithouttext". I wiould like to do this without having to adjust each button manually
Main issue is frequent crashes of the AutoCAD software. Sometimes 10-12 time's in a day. Unfortunately their are no error messages, and I have yet to see any pattern in when and how it crashes.
The problems I can see are the workspace, and process memory of my system. The workspace does not load correctly. The Ribbon shows multiples of the every tab at least twice. All tabs show the commands but not the pictures associated with the commands. CUIload shows correct workspaces.
Second note is that my system runs the same .dwg file's at 2/3 the processing memory than any other identical systems I run AutoCAD on.
Third, through my digging and attempted solutions I found that the AcSignCore_.dll file was missing.
I have: re-installed 3D twice, updated graphics drivers on my system and run open close save hotfix as well as AutoCAD2010 update 2 for 64 bit system.
