i'm having problem with array tool in acad2012. i draw a line, type array and hit enter. i put everything normally and hit enter when it says Enter to accept. then the line and arrayed object disappears. i don't know what's wrong with it. layers and everything is just as usual.
i did some other arrays in the same file before and they are working with no problem.
i am having some trouble in AutoCAD 2013... basically, i am making geometric shapes with polar arrayed circles and want to trim certain parts that cross. but because the array is treated as one object, it won't seem to let me trim anything on it. is there a way to separate or unlink the circles so they become separate objects?

Associative Network Evaluation Error
The object cannot be resolved or value limit has been exceeded.
Inconsistent associative objects my display geometry and grips incorrectly and update in unexpected ways when edited. You can undo to restore the associative object to its previous state.Upon receiving this message, all groups have been removed from the drawing.
Having just installed AutoCadArchitecture 2013 last week, I've been fairly successful in fixing most of my "issues".
When I dbl. click on a line, polyline, etc, I have it set up to open the Properties Pallet, (not the quick properties box). Problem is, the first time I dbl.click on a no object it opens the Properties pallet no problem, but the second time i dbl click an object, the properties pallet completely disappears from the screen. When I dbl click the object a 3rd time, the pallet comes back. I have it set to auto-hide, but not disappear. How do I get to use the dbl. click feature to open the properties pallet every time?
I have a simple 3D cuboid that I used rectangle array on, 2 rows of 5 elements each. Anyways I then tried to use massprop on the 10 objects to get the combined volume.
But I get: "No solids or regions selected." whenever I select the arrayed objects. To create the initial object I offset an existing objects square face using "Offset Edge". Then I arrayed the resulting offsetted square shape. I then "Extruded" the shapes by editing the source.
Just recently we upgraded from ACAD 2010 to 2011. Some users are still on XP and some are on Windows 7. Since we began making the jump to ACAD 2011, we have begun to notice more and more drawings popping up with blocks no longer visible that were there the day before. When you go to the block editor, the block definition is still there but all of the geometry has been blown away. The only entity that seems to be immune is an attribute. The only commonality among the various drawings this is happening too is that they are all being accessed from an XP machine. Some folks have had to spend hours restoring all the blocks that were lost and that in itself was a challenge because ACAD already saw the definition so it would continue to blow away the geometry. You could purge the block IF you could find a way to pick it and delete it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit my text it disappears. I have attached an image of the problem. This only affects my machine in my company - I have checked colour settings with others and theirs are the same as mine only theirs works
The text is set to white/black colour 7 and the sheet layout is set to white. I have tried different text colours and I still can't see them.
As you can see from the top image I have a background mask that is set to the drawing sheet colour which is white When I double click in the text to edit it the text disappears (bottom image) as if the mask is appearing in front of the text which it shouldn't do.
The only way to be able to view the text is to switch the background mask off - but I want to avoid this as I have to keep switching it on again.
I get the same problem if inserting a new table and having to edit the cells. However here there is no way to switch the background mask off as there is no button that I can see to switch it on and off.
At no specific time when using ACAD 2012 MEP the cursor disappears. cross hairs and all. the only way to get them back is to close ACAD and open it back up.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI created a new pull down menu in AutoCAD 2011 and everytime I close out of AutoCAD or switch workspaces it disappears from the Menu bar. So I type in CUI at the command line and checked the customization window and it shows the menu as being active. I had no problems in previous versions of AutoCAD.

In other drawings that are open at the same time the X in present...Switching between drawings often brings the X back, but this is a weird bug that was not present before the 2012 release.

I drew the polar arrayed rectangle as attached and tried to trim the inside lines to create an octagon but i cant trim the object.
However, if i try the same thing without polar arraying ( i.e just by drawing the two rectangles similarly) it works. I would like to know what might be causing this.
When i use panning in 2D mode the drawing disappears from my viewport. Autocad and all tools are still visible but there is nothing in drawing screen. When i zoom extent(z+e) it comes back again but in a couple minutes it disappears again while i am panning.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe viewport canvas is a great tool, I have had it working in previous versions of max but in 2013 I just can't get it to work.
The object it's self has been unwrapped and collapsed to poly no different to what I've done in the past. I bring up the viewport canvas dialog box and everything is normal until I select the paint brush tool and the object disappears, it's still in the scene but I just can't see it, it seems as though the viewport clipping has become very narrow, closing the dialog box the object returns. I've tried large and small objects, nitrous and direct x, and nothing seems to work.
Started to play with dynamic blocks now got my head around stretch and tables but I'm looking to use the array command
this is what I want to try to achive
I have a dynamic block which has a array command in it so by simply pulling on the arrow the block will array horizontally giving me multiple items side by side
what I want to do is count the array example if I insert the block and and array to say 12 items side by side then I want to get the value 12 placed into a block attribute which is part of the dynamic block
I can then pull this data out of the drawing into spreadsheet so I can then create a purchase list of items
My immediate thought was to divide the the total length by the width of the item to get me a count but I don't know yet how to get this to work in the dynamic block
Having problems when copy/cut and paste. When pasting or inserting a block into a drawing the subject disappears.

When I select an object and pan to make another selection the first object "deselects". The object(s) will stay selected until I pan and as soon as I start to pan the grips go away and the object(s) is deselected.

I've been using flatten for a long time and I just noticed that after flattening an objects sometimes it doesn't give you the exact shape of an object. Is there a reason why?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've created a block that uses a solid hatch acting like a wipeout field. In 2012, you can change the system variable TRANSPARENCYDISPLAY to <1> and it will make this hatch transparent. However, apparently that sysvar doesn't exist in 2010...
I don't want my other guy to have to look at these big white spots, on top of which he has to edit text!
I cannot get the advanced select objects tools to work.
I type:
select <enter>
wp <enter>
Make my polygon, and then I'm stuck in a single item select mode. If I hit enter, they all unselect and I can't do anything. Typing a command (like "m") does nothing.
Typing m <enter>, and then doing the selection yields the same result. At the end of my selection process and I hit <enter>, it sits in the single object selection mode (the little box cursor). Hitting <enter> here again makes the selection dissapear and I'm back to square one.
every time I select something a small box pops up in my way with the object's properties. I can't figure out how it became turned on, and don't know how to get rid of it.

I check drawings from several subcontractors to make sure they meet the clients standards before submitting to the client. The client doesn't want any OLE objects in the drawings but the subcontractors occasionally use them. What is the easiest way to break this link?
