I WANT to break a link between an OLE object and the spreadsheet. I check drawings from several subcontractors to make sure they meet the clients standards before submitting to the client. The client doesn't want any OLE objects in the drawings but the subcontractors occasionally use them. What is the easiest way to break this link? The client wants AutoCAD entities only such as lines and text.

Now I need to put the information in the database autocad text entity and already there I'm not getting more done
I have several drawings with tables on them with broken links to spreadsheets which have been deleted.I can't edit the tables.
Is there a way of reusing the information in the table to recreate the spreadsheets or new tables.
Is it possible to extract coordinates to a spreadsheet or display them on screen of points in AutoCad. I would like to know the coordinates of all the intersections of the lines in the model shown in the attached pdf. The 3d model was drawn in Revit as model lines. If there is a simple way to draw this shape in AutoCad, it is part of a torus.I imported it into AutoCad as Revit had a few limitations.
View 5 Replies View RelatedUsing AutoCAD 2010, and I'm having problems printing with one dwg, that I've had to copy an Excel Spreadsheet into. The spreadsheet was created with Excel 2007, and has quite a bit of text in it, and I'm trying to print it on an E size sheet, to an HP Designjet 4000. AutoCAD hangs up each time I try to print this, and my computer gets a message indicating that I'm low on disk space, even tho I do have plenty of space. It's like Autocad is taking more resources than it normally should. How I can insert this spreadsheet into AutoCAD and be able to print it? I've inserted the spreadsheet in model space, and the titleblock/border is in paperspace. I've tried printing to pdf and exporting to other formats to see if that will work, but AutoCAD keeps hanging up. Any other AutoCAD dwg works fine to print to the printer. It's just this one file with a spreadsheet inserted into it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've previously used Autocad 2008 Electrical. I've just started a new job and I have been asked to update some electrical drawings from a recent project. My current employer use Autocad 2010 as opposed to Autocad Electrical which I have previously used.
The problem I have is that I have a drawing with a table linked to an Excel spreadsheet that displays an I/O table.
Since the drawings have changed the amount I/O has increased.
I have a new excel sheet with the new I/O list which is larger than the old I/O list.
When I "point" the Table to look at the new spreadsheet in the "Modify Excel Link" Dialogue and alter the "Link to Range" Tab to my new desired excel sheet and apply the changes the table. The new excel sheet populates the table correctly until the end of the old table used to stop then the format goes all to hell and the new part of the table is way out of scale and at 90 degrees out to the original table.
I think I am possibly missing a step somehwere when updating the Data Table Links!?!?....Do I need to alter the table properties somewhere too?.
I’m trying to export from my drawing point X-Y position coordinates to Excel for use in programming a metrology that will measure at these locations.
When I use the EATTEXT command to pull up the data extraction wizard, it will export the positions & extracts the locations to a spreadsheet format. But coordinate numbers I get, seem to be relative to the World USC system & not the origin I align & set in the center.
Yet when I use ID Point, to check positions the coordinates of the points are correct & relative to the center origin. How to get the location coordinates relative to the center USC origin I've located in the center of my part?
I have a basic floor plan in AutoCAD 2012 that has blocks in specific locations which contain personel data....name, phone, computer tag, desk key numbers, etc. I extracted the data to an Excel spreadsheet and I thought set up a "data link". But I don't know how to make the data update.
My problem...moves of staff, phone, computers are often made, but no one lets me know about it until they want a new floor plan printed and the computer and key tags get so messed up from the moves that it can take me hours to fix.
My goal is to be able to have our secretarial staff update the spreadsheet and in turn update the blocks in my AutoCAD drawing when it is opened and/or "updated".
i'de like to create a map with several colored zones. the colors in these zones would depend on data in a spreadsheet. is it possible to link photoshop to a spreadsheet and have the colors change when the data changes?

The plan would be to gather all file names and associated pdfs in an excel spreadsheet and run the iLogic against that.

whenever I am moving an inverter or module shape around, I always have to either shift those wires or extend them to some extent.
I was wondering, like Google SketchUp, can AutoCAD have a follow extension mechanism for a fix point with an fix object?
I would love so that only one wires extends. So I am just looking at a linear expansion for now. I am not looking for complex 3D expansion... I just want 90° lines to extend:

It it possible to link a field to a layer name? this would make the job that I am doing alot easier. For some reaso the company that I currently work for wants to put the layer discription next to the revcloud instead of just using a delta.

Can i link several text fields to different layouts in the same DWG? I need to change the same information into several layouts, and it`s taking me too much time to do that.
eg: if i have a field "Smith" in Layout 1, 2, 3, 4 (linked between them) and i want to change from Smith to Johnson , if i change it in Layout 1, it will automatically change it in all Layouts.
I am trying to insert a table using a data link. I set up the Link through the DataLink manager and then insert the table using a range. I click OK to insert the table and after a few seconds of thinking ACAD sits there with no table on the screen. When I look in XREFs, the DL is there but says it is unrefrenced. Tried multiple ways of entering or setting up information to no avail.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using the ribbon in 2012. I've got a drawing index sheet I want to update, and what I need to do to get to the Edit Data Link command is switch to the Classic interface and select the table in order to display the Table toolbar with Edit Data Link button.
I cannot find this anywhere on the ribbon, and the same button icon as Edit Data Link on the Table toolbar runs Data Link Manager from the Annotate tab, Tables panel on the ribbon, which is not what I want.
Where is this on the ribbon? And how come identical tool buttons run different commands in different workspaces?

I have been tasked with finding a way to link data from Oracle and SQL databases with CAD files of rooms in certain buildings. My goal is to be able to select an arbitrary room within a building and be able to access certain information. I don't actually have access to the databases yet, but I would like to know how to do this when I do. My data consists of "human" data such as: name, email, position, sex, etc; as wells as "physical" data such as: square footage of the room, who uses it, computer serial numbers, or what department is in charge of it. Using this data we will cross reference the tables to determine what our needs are.
My AutoCAD skills are good but I've never come across anything like this in the class room. Most of my knowledge is Civil based and more focused on design.
We are a MEP firm, using AutoCAD 2011 and Excel 2007, and our project is a building with 1000+ rooms. Each room has specified supply and return airflows that need to show up in text in each of the rooms. All the airflow values are calculated in a spreadsheet.
My thought is to use fields in the text that shows up in each room, then link each field to a specific cell in Excel, because these values will be evolving over the next year.
Is there a way to turn off the Data Link Updates? I want it to be a maual process. Right now it tries to update the data links when I print. It asks if I want to skip but I have to do that everytime I print. Can I turn that off. If it updates it destroys the formatting of the table.

I extruded the leaf 1" first, then tried to copy it on a solid cylinder of a vase, but it didn't work!!! It seems to be simple, maybe not!
When I select an object and pan to make another selection the first object "deselects". The object(s) will stay selected until I pan and as soon as I start to pan the grips go away and the object(s) is deselected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf I place a link to a dwg as a hyperlink in an Excel file, AutoCAD freezes. It opens the drawing, then AutoCAD is completely locked. I have to close it through task manager.
This has been tested wih multiple drawings and excel file and it happens in all of them. I'm using Excel 2010 and AutoCAD 2010.

I am looking into using the Survey Database for the first time and noticed it linked back to the imported file from which the points came. However, my question is when the points are adjusted within the AutoCAD file is there a way for this adjustment to link back into the imported point file. I am trying not to have a situation where the data is different between the imported file and the autocad file.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to link a series of text lines in an autocad drawing to there corresponding fields in an excel sheet, I can not use tables in autocad because of the way other software uses the text in autocad. I have attached files of the text layout in acad and of the sheet in excel. One thing that keeps me from using tables in acad is that every line of text is on a different layer, with tables you can't control the layer of table its always on the current layer.
