AutoCAD 2010 :: Extract Coordinates To A Spreadsheet?
Jun 11, 2013
Is it possible to extract coordinates to a spreadsheet or display them on screen of points in AutoCad. I would like to know the coordinates of all the intersections of the lines in the model shown in the attached pdf. The 3d model was drawn in Revit as model lines. If there is a simple way to draw this shape in AutoCad, it is part of a torus.I imported it into AutoCad as Revit had a few limitations.
I’m trying to export from my drawing point X-Y position coordinates to Excel for use in programming a metrology that will measure at these locations.
When I use the EATTEXT command to pull up the data extraction wizard, it will export the positions & extracts the locations to a spreadsheet format. But coordinate numbers I get, seem to be relative to the World USC system & not the origin I align & set in the center.
Yet when I use ID Point, to check positions the coordinates of the points are correct & relative to the center origin. How to get the location coordinates relative to the center USC origin I've located in the center of my part?
Imagine i have a polyline(2d or 3d doesn't really matter),and i want to extract the coordinates info of every vertex on the polyline from start to end.
How do i do that in AutoCAD?And if not is there a way to do it on any of the verticals?
I have to tabulate the X and Y co-ordinates along a polyline at 1 metre intervals. I have divided the polyline into segments of one metre and have tried to use a command called data extraction. So I use this command and individually click on each point. The end result gives me the X and Y coordinates in the order I have picked them however when I put it into a table on the drawing it messes up the order?
I am busy writing a small app to find a best fit circle through a series of points that roughly follow the profile of an arc. This data was scanned in using a Farro arm and imported to AutoCAD.
I would like to use VB.Express and the AutoCAD API. So far I have managed to write some code (loosely based on some examples from the AutoCAD .NET Developer's Guide) to allow the user to select the points to process.
I have three questions around this issue:
a.) How can I set up a selection filter to limited the user's input to 2d points only? b.) Once I have the selection set of points, how can I extract the "X" and "Y" values of each of the points to be able to process further? c.) Is there some sort of Object model diagram for the AutoCAD API that I can download, or any (downloadable) literature to get started with the API and VB.Express. I have looked online for some books and Amazon list them, but a. they are in hardcopy format and b.) the most recommended one (i.e. VB.NET Programming for AutoCAD Customization - Level 1 Jeremy Winters) is out of print. I am specifically looking for downloadable books because of the delivery times and shipping costs to get a hard copy.
how to extract pile coordinates to excel or spreadsheets, or anything that works and is quicker than just individual pile coordinates. i have about 446 piles.
I WANT to break a link between an OLE object and the spreadsheet. I check drawings from several subcontractors to make sure they meet the clients standards before submitting to the client. The client doesn't want any OLE objects in the drawings but the subcontractors occasionally use them. What is the easiest way to break this link? The client wants AutoCAD entities only such as lines and text.
Using AutoCAD 2010, and I'm having problems printing with one dwg, that I've had to copy an Excel Spreadsheet into. The spreadsheet was created with Excel 2007, and has quite a bit of text in it, and I'm trying to print it on an E size sheet, to an HP Designjet 4000. AutoCAD hangs up each time I try to print this, and my computer gets a message indicating that I'm low on disk space, even tho I do have plenty of space. It's like Autocad is taking more resources than it normally should. How I can insert this spreadsheet into AutoCAD and be able to print it? I've inserted the spreadsheet in model space, and the titleblock/border is in paperspace. I've tried printing to pdf and exporting to other formats to see if that will work, but AutoCAD keeps hanging up. Any other AutoCAD dwg works fine to print to the printer. It's just this one file with a spreadsheet inserted into it.
I've previously used Autocad 2008 Electrical. I've just started a new job and I have been asked to update some electrical drawings from a recent project. My current employer use Autocad 2010 as opposed to Autocad Electrical which I have previously used.
The problem I have is that I have a drawing with a table linked to an Excel spreadsheet that displays an I/O table.
Since the drawings have changed the amount I/O has increased.
I have a new excel sheet with the new I/O list which is larger than the old I/O list.
When I "point" the Table to look at the new spreadsheet in the "Modify Excel Link" Dialogue and alter the "Link to Range" Tab to my new desired excel sheet and apply the changes the table. The new excel sheet populates the table correctly until the end of the old table used to stop then the format goes all to hell and the new part of the table is way out of scale and at 90 degrees out to the original table.
I think I am possibly missing a step somehwere when updating the Data Table Links!?!?....Do I need to alter the table properties somewhere too?.
I have a basic floor plan in AutoCAD 2012 that has blocks in specific locations which contain personel data....name, phone, computer tag, desk key numbers, etc. I extracted the data to an Excel spreadsheet and I thought set up a "data link". But I don't know how to make the data update.
My problem...moves of staff, phone, computers are often made, but no one lets me know about it until they want a new floor plan printed and the computer and key tags get so messed up from the moves that it can take me hours to fix.
My goal is to be able to have our secretarial staff update the spreadsheet and in turn update the blocks in my AutoCAD drawing when it is opened and/or "updated".
I have this 3D refrigerator block from GE and I want to extract 2d front, plan, sides. I tried flatshot and all the sol's solprof, soldraw, solview and I get a message saying there are no solids or surfaces to extract.
I have noticed that "Data Extraction" does not give you geometry information of a 3D solid such as position X, Y, and Z, and Length, Width, and Height. This information IS available in "Properties". Is there a way to extract this info to csv or some other format?
I have this 3D toilet from Kohler but want to extract the 2d front, top and sides. I've flatshot, soldraw, solprof, solview but I get an error message that says something like "no surfaces or solids found".
A while back, I sent some dxf files (all made in AC Lt 2010) to a company that uses a system called DP/Com. Apparently, this program reads coordinates (Y,X) instead of (X,Y), which means that they think all of my files are really wierd . Each and every number in the coordinates of my points are correct, so it's just the order I want to change.
Is there any way to "switch" the coordinates of several points at once in AC? (Without having to extract a coordinate list, switch columns in Excel and then importing them back...?)
i basically need to extract all the blocks and quantities used in a drawing as the drawing we make are usually really big and takes time to pan around to count all blocks.
I design a small plant in Autocad 2012. For the pipes we used cylinders, now we need to make the bill of materials, but I don't know how to extract the data from each cylinder(radius and height), after I will be able to do this, I can make the material list, but I don't know how and I am having so many cylinders.
I had a request to add wells using state plane coordinates using an aerial photo. Is this possible in acadlt 2010? If possible I would thinkk that if I could get a relationship with the wells I could adjust the image/photo if I had two known coordinates on the photo. Not even sure if you can change to NAD83 (1991) in light.
I have a drawing with the x and y as grid references, I have an excel spreadsheet with point information with grid references which are within the range on the drawing. How do I put the excell info onto the drawing?
I am currently designing a kitchen with a complete floor plan. I had requested some accessories files from a company called Pearl works and they sent me each file that I requested. The problem is that when I copy and paste each image file into my existing floor plan, they all show up as the same image and not the seperate images that should appear. Am I doing something wrong with the clipboard process?
I have also tried deleting the drawing and re-inserting a different file and when I do every file thereafter is the same as the one that I just switched.
I would like to display East and West coordinates at certain points ( like circle center lines etc.). how can i do this so that the display is accurate and readable?
How can I automatically get point coordinates and show it in drawing. For example I have 100 points and I need to write x and y coordinates right next to the point. (not in table or somewhere else).I guess I need a plugin or smth?
