View 2 RepliesI have Autocad Map3D 2010. I have a set of points in a CSV file containing points, latitude and longitude, in columns, that I want to import to a map and place the points (houses) in the appropriate locations with the house number. I click IMPORT, MAP IMPORT, select my file as PNE and the data in the preview window appears correctly. I'm using OH83-SF coordinate code which the map is. When I click OK it appears to have completed the command but nothing appears on the map and I get no error notifications. As a test I put an incorrect value in one of the lists and it did flag the error. I've tried space delimiters, commas, txt and Excell tables and always the same - nothing. I've tried the command line MULTIPLE POINTS and entered the geo coordinates and again - nothing appears on the map.

The formats i am trying import are CSV and TXT files.
Is there any quick ways to do this?
I am designing a RCC Dam and the shape of the dam is constant and will not change, but the dimensions of this shape are very likely to change depending upon hydraulic analysis.
I have written a program (irrelevant, but I am using MathCad 14) that performs a stability analysis of a RCC Dam (based on elevations from the hydraulic analysis) and then exports the dam dimensions and coordinates to Excel.
I am attempting to then take those coordinates (or dimensions) from Excel to create a 2-D dimensioned drawing of the Dam in AutoCAD.
I have successfully linked the Excel spreadsheet containing these coordinates and dimensions to AutoCad tables in my drawing, but I am having trouble getting AutoCAD to update my drawing as these tables update with different coordinates and dimensions.
I would like to have a drawing that is fully dimensioned (as the shape of the dam will not change), but that will update coordinates and dimensions as I pump out different dam dimensions from my stability analysis.
I am tryiny to import coordinate file like I have so many times and the Select File box keeps telling me "No point file format match found". I click the proper file format and it shows in the Preview box but the OK box will not go dark so I can clcik on it. The file is a CSv and tried making it a txt with no luck. Using 2012.

Apart from FLATTEN, is there a way to change the Z coordinates of an MLEADER to stop the text from appearing bold.
FLATTEN explodes the MLEADER & is thus not suitable for this.
A while back, I sent some dxf files (all made in AC Lt 2010) to a company that uses a system called DP/Com. Apparently, this program reads coordinates (Y,X) instead of (X,Y), which means that they think all of my files are really wierd . Each and every number in the coordinates of my points are correct, so it's just the order I want to change.
Is there any way to "switch" the coordinates of several points at once in AC? (Without having to extract a coordinate list, switch columns in Excel and then importing them back...?)
Is it possible to extract coordinates to a spreadsheet or display them on screen of points in AutoCad. I would like to know the coordinates of all the intersections of the lines in the model shown in the attached pdf. The 3d model was drawn in Revit as model lines. If there is a simple way to draw this shape in AutoCad, it is part of a torus.I imported it into AutoCad as Revit had a few limitations.

If possible I would thinkk that if I could get a relationship with the wells I could adjust the image/photo if I had two known coordinates on the photo. Not even sure if you can change to NAD83 (1991) in light.

I had requested some accessories files from a company called Pearl works and they sent me each file that I requested. The problem is that when I copy and paste each image file into my existing floor plan, they all show up as the same image and not the seperate images that should appear. Am I doing something wrong with the clipboard process?
I have also tried deleting the drawing and re-inserting a different file and when I do every file thereafter is the same as the one that I just switched.

I’m wondering if there is a way to automatically store the XYZ coordinates obtained from the “list” command in a table with three columns in the AutoCAD.

I’m trying to export from my drawing point X-Y position coordinates to Excel for use in programming a metrology that will measure at these locations.
When I use the EATTEXT command to pull up the data extraction wizard, it will export the positions & extracts the locations to a spreadsheet format. But coordinate numbers I get, seem to be relative to the World USC system & not the origin I align & set in the center.
Yet when I use ID Point, to check positions the coordinates of the points are correct & relative to the center origin. How to get the location coordinates relative to the center USC origin I've located in the center of my part?
I've attached an image of my problem for reference. I've had this problem in other versions of CAD so it's likely a user error that I'm not clear on how to fix.
I have several dimensions which I'm trying to place on my drawing through VPMAX in my viewport, but the text keeps showing up upside down. When I manually tell it to rotate 90 degrees, the text remains upside-down but the landing becomes vertical. When I rotate 180 degrees, the text becomes vertical which isn't really useful. Rotating 270 degrees almost solves my problem, but the landing is once again vertical.
If it matters, the UCS coordinates have been rotated 90 degrees for ease of viewing in paper space.

I'm a GIS analyst trying to learn Cad. I'd like to place a single point in autocad model space at a specific Northing/Easting position. After reading several forum threads I don't think CAD allows me to change the coordinate system of model space from map coords to northing easting coords, as we can in GIS.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing a strange behavior when i import a DXF with a plugin for AutoCAD 2012, but only when i'm on Win7 64bits.
The plugin normally (in WinXP) would load the .dxf file, then if it has a reference for an ortophoto picture, it places the picture on the right place and "visible" (you'll get what i mean by this later).
On the other hand, on win7 64bits when i import the dxf file using the plugin, it only shows the frame of the picture, but no picture inside!
cadgis_1
But, if i close the file i just opened and open the .dxf using Autocad "default" open, on the layout the picture is showing just like it was supposed to...
Autocad_layout
So, now i've opened the .dxf using Autocad, let's try again to open it using the plugin and.... voilá! The picture is displayed, bright and shinny! A miracle i must say!
cadgis_2
And if i open it again using the "default" open from Autocad, not only it displays the picture on Layout but also on the Model!
Autocad_Model
I'll attach the dxf with the external .tiff file.

I wasn't able to upload the picture, so i've placed in a zip file and attached it to the post.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import a Polyface Mesh of a road plan to use in Terramodel. Terramodel handles .dwf and .dxf perfectly, but I seem to be having trouble preserving the elevations when importing. The polyface mesh imports in as polylines and without preserving the given elevations. I have used autocad in the past and have access to Autocad Civil 3d 2012 if need be.
Is there an import tool or command I am missing or unaware of that will allow the import to take place successfully?
So everytime I import a layout from my template, the scale comes out wrong. The border is way too big, viewport, and the stamp is also way to big. It's being scaled by approximately by 12.28 times.
Here's what I can share:
- both drawings are in inches in both files
- all that 'insunits' stuff is set to zero in both files
- 'measurement' and 'measureinit' is set to zero in both files
- using AutoCAD 2012
- xyz scale is all at 1.00
- the titleblock itself almost imports correctly, only some of my att text doesn't come out properly as well.
As far as i can tell it's the command 'from template' issue. Because when i cut and paste the templates layout contents, it comes out fine.
