Nov 19, 2013I need to create a small table to ID the User, Computer name, Door Key, etc for a floor plan drawing of our office. I'd like to get this done in Excel and link it all so the bldg manager can make changes to the drawing without me. I have created the excel file and created a "name set" in excel for each room. In Autocad 2013 I have inserted a table from a data link and pointed that link to the named range of the room (the named range in excel is an 8 cel block with al the info I need repeated and uniquely named for each room.
This works great...so my next step is to create a block out of the table and make the DATA LINK a variable attribute...that's where I'm stuck. i cannot figure out how to do this. I would love to be able to INSERT BLOCK and have one attribute question...ROOM NUMBER?. That should look to the excel NAMED SET the corresponds and populate the table.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Object Styles - None For A Single Object Attribute?
Dec 9, 2012Is there a way to exclude single attributes from being defined in a object style? As example: i want to define an outline that does not change width of the objects, but everything else.
There is a small tick box right of every attribute with help text "None this object attribute is not defined by a custom style" but i can not mark it. My feeling is, that i need to switch on this tick box to get the result i need, but i can not. When i click on it, it just gives me a greyed out "Revert". When i try to make child styles, there is a way to break the connection to parent style with these tick boxes, but no luck.
Is it a bug? I tried it with X6, X6.1 and X6.2

Aug 2, 2012I WANT to break a link between an OLE object and the spreadsheet. I check drawings from several subcontractors to make sure they meet the clients standards before submitting to the client. The client doesn't want any OLE objects in the drawings but the subcontractors occasionally use them. What is the easiest way to break this link? The client wants AutoCAD entities only such as lines and text.

Nov 16, 2011I have a requirement to insert PDF files via an OLE object link into a large number of .iam and .ipt files. Is there iLogic code out there that will perform this feat? The plan would be to gather all file names and associated pdfs in an excel spreadsheet and run the iLogic against that.

May 17, 2012whenever I am moving an inverter or module shape around, I always have to either shift those wires or extend them to some extent.
I was wondering, like Google SketchUp, can AutoCAD have a follow extension mechanism for a fix point with an fix object?
I would love so that only one wires extends. So I am just looking at a linear expansion for now. I am not looking for complex 3D expansion... I just want 90° lines to extend:

Apr 17, 2013I'm trying to edit our titleblocks. There is information we repeat at the top of the drawing like the drawing name, sheet number, total number of sheets, contract number, etc. It is ridiculous to have to type this information in twice. I tried creating both text and constant attributes at the top and insert field pointing to attributes at the bottom but all I get is ---- when inserted. My inserted field was ->Object->(selected attribute)->Value. I am using version 2011. I would think it should be easy to "repeat" values of attributes inside a block.

Photoshop :: Doc Looses Link To Original Smart Object Document
Jun 19, 2013I am having trouble with my PScs6 wherein the layered doc I am working on looses it's link to the source file within the smart object "container" layers refering to it. I opened up a saved version from timemachine and the same thing happened. At the same time ALL the masks all went nuts and presented with lined artifacts instead of white (in the case of adjustment clipped layers to the smart object. The original file was not moved to a new location or deleted. I closed PS6 and reopened to find the problem did not go away. It started when I used the rotate tool to do some fine work on the smart object's mask with brush and wand. I was using the fill command to fill the wanded areas in the mask. I believe it was a problem with the rotate tool because it became more and more jerky and resizing over 100% caused the image within the smart object to dissappear on all layers using that source image in the doc. PS6 has been buggy and crashing more frequently recently in general, especially after using plugins that have worked flawlessly for years. I run a macbook pro with snow leopard. 10.6.8
this one show the smart object now emptied of it's source image after using the rotate (R) tool for a while and zooming in over 100%..this one shows the mask artifacts (on the topmost "wash" layer mask) that also developed after using the rotate (R) tool for a while and zooming in over 100%.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Link In Text Object Not Preserved Or Published To PDF
Jul 9, 2012When setting a URL link to selected text in a text object, the link style (blue w/ underline) is not preserved after save, close & reopening. The url is still set if you select the same text.The biggest issue is when publishing to PDF, those links do not get published as it did in previous versions of CorelDRAW. This breaks thousands of our documents when publishing to pdf since we have upgraded from X3 to X6. This is a show stopper for us using X6.

Dec 26, 2011I'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.

In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks? Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA? The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.
Explode will not retain the value of the field.
Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.
You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM. So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.

Mar 28, 2013I have a drawing with Objects that have both Object Data and Linked data in an Access database. I need to get information from the linked table to a new linked table for each object.
I have thought that if I get the necessary information from the Linked table record to the object data for each object, I could then convert the Object data to a new link and am looking for a way to copy the data from a field in the Linked Table to the object data. There is at least one field common to both the OD and Linked Table record.
Is there any automated way to transfer this data?

Oct 15, 2010I'm working in AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 and Autocad Civil 3D 2009.
The General Task:I want to convert the object data to attribute data so that I can export it to an Excel file, add another column of data, and then import that new data as attribute data.
The Specific Task:I have thousands of campus water meter locations (a block with a small icon, attribute data, and object data) that belong to two different systems, domestic water and lake water. Each of these blocks has object data item (a barcode tag) that I want to show as a label next to the block.
However, before I do that, I want to export that barcode data to an excel file so I add a column (eventually a new piece of attribute data) that says whether or not that specific water meter is radio read or manually read. I want to then import that radio read/manual read excel file back into autocad and have an X appear on the block icon if it is radio read. I also want the barcode information to show up as a label.
My problem:I can't get the barcode object data to export with the locations in one easy excel sheet that I can simply import after I have made my changes.
Find some person on here who knows how to convert object data to attribute data.

Oct 5, 2012What I really want to do is on our fire alarm blocks we have 3 different attributes one for the address, the candela and one for misc info. I want to make an attribute that takes the number from the candela (15,30,75or 110) and change a different attribute to a value depending on which candela we use (such as 15=.078, 30=.113, 75=.195 or 110=.259). But I don't want the .078,.113,.195,.259 to print out on paper, I want to export block information excel file so I can add up all values.

Jun 15, 2013I want to copy attribute values. I'm making a catalogue of all the reinforcements in my drawing so I need to name those reinforcements. So what I want is to make a string of text that I don't need to totally modify everytime. Something like this:
Amount of reinforcement bars - 5
Diameter of the reinforcement - 12
Division of reinforcing bars - 100
Reinforcement bars: 5-T12-k100
So the only attributes I'd edit would be the first three not the last one. So how can this be accomplished?

Sep 19, 2012This may be confusing, but I wonder if there's any way to link an object to a certain text place or paragraph in a text frame, so if you edit the text somewhere, the "linked" image will move up/down with its associated text? That is, the object being a part of the text flow.
