In my company, they have just upgraded the old version of Autocad LT 2004 to the new 2013 and we have created menu to make our job easy. I have try to transfer the menu file .mnc to 2013 but it's not working or I don't do it the right way.
View 4 RepliesI have a drawing with Objects that have both Object Data and Linked data in an Access database. I need to get information from the linked table to a new linked table for each object.
I have thought that if I get the necessary information from the Linked table record to the object data for each object, I could then convert the Object data to a new link and am looking for a way to copy the data from a field in the Linked Table to the object data. There is at least one field common to both the OD and Linked Table record.
Is there any automated way to transfer this data?
how to import point data that has Map Object Data also attached to it? "import it by attaching to a data source".
Example: I have a bunch of manholes. Each MH has X,Y,Z, but also Type, Invert Elevs., Pipe Sizes, Pipe Materials, Pipe Directions, Structure Type/Material, etc. etc. etc. I may have point data representing MH's, airport runway ends, trees, anything you can imagine, with all kinds of data imaginable.
I want to import this data directly into Autocad/Civil 3D as either Autocad points, lines, or closed polylines (I also have utility lines, parking lots, etc.- all with data associated with it), all with the data attached as object data. I know that anything more complex than points might be hard to explain here, so I am hoping at least for a solution on how to import points - I have 99,999 MH's and obviously I don't want to have to type all that data in one by one.
I basically suck at using sql server. I can get around using the Map workspace and the different tabs. I have never used FDO, and I am not even sure what it is.
I fooled it today by creating 99,999 Autocad points at the correct XYZ, attaching the correct object data to them, then exporting as a shp file. I went into the shp_name.dbf file and edited it to add the data I wanted by cutting & pasting from Excel. then I re-imported the shp file. but, this is a workaround at best.
Surely Map can import objects and their associated data fields, all populated with valid data! all I need is to know how to do it. I mean, if this is not something I can do directly using Map commands should I take the money I earned by surveying 99,999 MH's with my GIS data collector that allows me to assign 101data fields to each object I survey, and buy something better?

I'm working in AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 and Autocad Civil 3D 2009.
The General Task:I want to convert the object data to attribute data so that I can export it to an Excel file, add another column of data, and then import that new data as attribute data.
The Specific Task:I have thousands of campus water meter locations (a block with a small icon, attribute data, and object data) that belong to two different systems, domestic water and lake water. Each of these blocks has object data item (a barcode tag) that I want to show as a label next to the block.
However, before I do that, I want to export that barcode data to an excel file so I add a column (eventually a new piece of attribute data) that says whether or not that specific water meter is radio read or manually read. I want to then import that radio read/manual read excel file back into autocad and have an X appear on the block icon if it is radio read. I also want the barcode information to show up as a label.
My problem:I can't get the barcode object data to export with the locations in one easy excel sheet that I can simply import after I have made my changes.
Find some person on here who knows how to convert object data to attribute data.
I'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.
I saw a youtube video "Cross Section in AutoCAD".But i could not understand how to transfer the data from excel to AutoCAD.There is a file TMaker.exe to make template of excel data.I could not find that elsewhere on net. Making earthwork x-sections with AutoCAD.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to insert a table linked to an Excel 2010 file, it works up until row 28, however, as soon as I add a 29th row to the table it no longer inserts the table. When I try and insert it, I press ok and nothing happens. I tried inserting it as a smaller table and changing the data link to a bigger range after it was inserted, it just didn't update to a larger range.
Is there a way of getting this to work without having to insert it as two different tables?
how to remove this link from my template. I don't see the table in MS or PS. When I right-click on the link I get the message: "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted."

I am trying to insert a table using a data link. I set up the Link through the DataLink manager and then insert the table using a range. I click OK to insert the table and after a few seconds of thinking ACAD sits there with no table on the screen. When I look in XREFs, the DL is there but says it is unrefrenced. Tried multiple ways of entering or setting up information to no avail.

I have viewed the raw data on the data collector, but there appears to be no error. What other methods of conversion could I use to convert the RAW data file to a TXT file? I was hoping that our local AutoCad/Topcon dealer would be able to have a work-around, but they seemed stumped too. We have never encountered a problem usitlizing the Survey data Collection Link with any of our traverses prior to this time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using the ribbon in 2012. I've got a drawing index sheet I want to update, and what I need to do to get to the Edit Data Link command is switch to the Classic interface and select the table in order to display the Table toolbar with Edit Data Link button.
I cannot find this anywhere on the ribbon, and the same button icon as Edit Data Link on the Table toolbar runs Data Link Manager from the Annotate tab, Tables panel on the ribbon, which is not what I want.
Where is this on the ribbon? And how come identical tool buttons run different commands in different workspaces?
When I try to reference an object in the Data Shortcuts menu, when I right-click the a profile in Prospector under Data Shortcuts, the option to "Create Reference..." is grayed out, and I am unable to reference that profile into the drawing I am working on. It works fine on other profiles that are being referenced from the same drawing.
I have tried:
1. Re-creating the alignment and profile data shortcut in the drawing being referenced
2. Creating a reference in my drawing to the alignment, which actually works. However, it still does not allow me to "create reference" for the profile.
3. Refreshing the data shortcuts.
4. Synchronizing the alignment referenced in the drawing.
Nothing seems to work. My only other option is to move the C3D profiles from the referenced drawing to the drawing I am working in. Is there a way to do this?
I need to create a small table to ID the User, Computer name, Door Key, etc for a floor plan drawing of our office. I'd like to get this done in Excel and link it all so the bldg manager can make changes to the drawing without me. I have created the excel file and created a "name set" in excel for each room. In Autocad 2013 I have inserted a table from a data link and pointed that link to the named range of the room (the named range in excel is an 8 cel block with al the info I need repeated and uniquely named for each room.
This works great...so my next step is to create a block out of the table and make the DATA LINK a variable attribute...that's where I'm stuck. i cannot figure out how to do this. I would love to be able to INSERT BLOCK and have one attribute question...ROOM NUMBER?. That should look to the excel NAMED SET the corresponds and populate the table.
I have been tasked with finding a way to link data from Oracle and SQL databases with CAD files of rooms in certain buildings. My goal is to be able to select an arbitrary room within a building and be able to access certain information. I don't actually have access to the databases yet, but I would like to know how to do this when I do. My data consists of "human" data such as: name, email, position, sex, etc; as wells as "physical" data such as: square footage of the room, who uses it, computer serial numbers, or what department is in charge of it. Using this data we will cross reference the tables to determine what our needs are.
My AutoCAD skills are good but I've never come across anything like this in the class room. Most of my knowledge is Civil based and more focused on design.
I cannot remove datalink was created by Insert Sheet List Table. Cannot see it in Datalink Manager.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have made a data link to an excel file. Then I bring it in as a table. I then adjust the text height and remove all formatting from the table. Unfortunately, after closing and re-opening the file, the table changes. I lose formating/cell alignment/text height. It isn't even consistent across the table. The lost formatting is only on the 2nd split of the table, the first side retains the corrected formatting. I have selected the option to not update excel formatting. I don't even get a notification the table is updating. There haven't been any changes to the excel sheet either....

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have some files (OK, 11,000 of them) and they have drawings on the bottom and text on the top. I want to erase this text and replace it with data that comes from a database. I don't know where to start.
I need to:
1. preferably find a way to erase the old data on the top, but I could do it manually
2. Insert data from specific fields into specific spots on the drawings.
3. Each drawing would have the same fields but different data corresponding to an account number. The account number is included in the name of the drawing and is a field in the database.
How to get started? I have Map3D as well, which I was told would work better than regular AutoCAD on this, but I also have regular AutoCAD. I can't even figure out how to make the database connection work.

I created a link to an Excel file to create a table. Before I ETransmit the AutoCAD file (along with many other files) I want to remove the link so that the table is embedded with no need for the external file. When I have somebody who doesn't have the linked file on their machine open the file they get a "missing external file" message" despite the fact that I ran the detach data link command and have purge selected in the ETransmit setup. The table shows up with the data, but I want to eliminate the nag pop up about the missing file. I know you can click the ignore button, but I don't want our customer to have to bother with it.
Any way to save a list of files for ETransmit like you do in a .dsd file for batch plotting?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe use Survey Data Collection Link to convert our file formats, in this case it is a GPS job exported from a TSC2 using Trimble Survey Controller Version 12.46. I exported the job from the data collector as a .csv file then use SDCL to convert the .csv into a .fbk file. I am getting this error saying the file is invalid or in use. We ran into this problem a couple months ago and it disappeared after a couple days, and now it has resurfaced.
Running Autocad Civil 3d 2012 with Service Pack 2, Windows 7 64-bit OS.
I have created a table style in ACAD 2012 with all of the cells formatted to what I need. The trouble begins when I bring in a BIAS excel data link to populate the table. I have tried every option in the insert table steps and have even tried all the different options under the modify excel link options. I have toggled the use excel formatting on and off, which does change the table size a small bit, but does not allow the table style to take affect.
I have attached a screen shot of the "good" and "bad" tables. The bad table is what the good table comes in as and it is also what happens everytime the table link updates. It always reverts back to the bad style and then I have to change the table back to the good one by hand - changing each column individually.
Is there a way to attach a data link to a table with the table style holding its shape and formatting?
This happens on all of my drawings and using all kinds of different excel links.

we recently were trying to import an excel table via data link function. Initially this works fine and the table appears in the drawing however when we want to break the link by deleting it in the data link table autocad tells me that the link is in use. We routinely do this in autocad mechanical 2010. The reason we do this is to be able to bring in the table and preserve formatting. How can we easily delete the data link in 2010 LT?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to transfer MP4 videos into VSPX5U from an ELGATO game capture card. Every video captured by the capture card is in an MP4 format and when trying to transfer it, my VSPX5U will tells me that "The file cointains no video data".
I understand that the Service Patch is supposed to fix this but after the initial download, it will tell me that "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate"
I struggled for a while this morning with trying to data link to a large door schedule in Excel. After several failures, I searched online for answers, and read in another forum that AutoCAD won't data link to more than 2000 cells.
My door schedule is about 2050 cells now, and will be about 4000 when done. I defined a set of about 1,000 cells in the Excel spreadsheet, and AutoCAD linked to it no problem. So, I tend to believe the poster who stated the 2000 cell limit, but I can't find this.
