AutoCAD .NET :: Attribute Reference Text String MText Attribute
Mar 16, 2012
I am using M Text Attributes to store imperial lengths in the drawing, feet inches and fractions (stacked). When I read back the Text String property which, is the M text Attribute.Contents parsed, I am having problems because the parser does not add a space between the inch and the fraction. So, is there any setting that could be used to tell the parser to add the space between the inch and the fraction?
I change a block's attributes programmatically using thisfunction I created:
private void UpdateAttributes(Database database, Detail det) { using (Transaction tr = database.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()) { //Grab the BlockReference the detail refers to. BlockReference block = (BlockReference)tr.GetObject(det.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForRead); //Iterate over the Attribute ids. foreach (ObjectId [code].......
You can ignore the Detail and Detail Attribute objects as they are also user-defined. Also note that this function expects the database to be currently open for working on.
Everything in this function works fine, but there is a strange quirk that becomes noticeable only when I use this function to edit an attribute that has its "Invisible" property set to "No".
Below, is the original block that is edited via this function:
As you can see, the block has a number with 4 digits (for our purposes, call this the Block Number).
I basically have a block with two text attributes which they are the same but in different positions.
When you double click on the block I don't want to enter "A" as the attribute value twice. I just want to type "A" one time and automatically receive it on the other position as "A" too.
Basically it is Detail(A-A) as in the following block.
I have made a dynamic block with attribute text. Everything works fine except the text comes out as larger than the mtext that it was created from. The text height & the width factor are the same since i created the attribute default by copying the mtext. when i close the block the text appears longer than the mtext it was created from.
In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks? Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA? The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.
Explode will not retain the value of the field.
Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.
You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM. So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.
I have a lot of attribute blocks in my drawing which i want to move them one by one
so , here is what i want to do :
I have numbers (or texts) in my work area and this numbers also exist in my attribute blocks .. i wanna move my attribute blocks with tag name value reference to my specify area if tag name values are matching with text or numbers in this area .. every block will check my selected tag string and will be move on matching text in my work area.
I have an attribute definition and I need to add its value to an mtext. I added it in mtext insert field it is ok, every thinks work fine it is only needs a regen but it is not a problem.
The problem is when my mtext and att in a block regen does not work in model space, I had to enter block and regen. Is there any way to do it without entrance in block editor?
When I select a block that contains a multiline attribute my AutoCAD does not display the corner grips of the attribute if its location is "locked" in the block. Is there a setting I can change to show grips in 2012? Apparently a co-worker of mine that uses 2011 has grips when selecting the block.
If I unlock the location I have grips (not the same ones I am used to seeing from mtext though) but I do not want the attribute location unlocked..I was understanding that the multiline attribute was simply an attribute containing an mtext.
Is there a way to create an attribute or MTEXT in a block where part of it is User defined and the other part is constant?
e.g.
"AUTOCAD = 12345 LAYERS"
Where "AUTOCAD =" and "LAYERS" are constant
and
"12345" is the user defined part.
The reason why I would like this is because i want to be able to Middle Center Justify the text and if i were to create 3 separate texts then it wouldn't be good (2 texts and 1 attdef)
I'm having issues with updating an MTEXT attributes value using lisp.
If I insert my block (this is a titleblock) and run my lisp routine the MTEXT attribute updates fine. Once I edit the MTEXT attribute with the MTEXT editor, and then run my lisp routine again, the MTEXT attribute will not update anymore. All the single line (DTEXT) attributes update fine. The lisp routine I created has worked for years...this is the first time I've tried it with an MTEXT attribute.
It has length and width stretch actions activated by grips. (Works fine).
It has an attribute for the user to type in a height value. (attribute insert box appears on block insert and when double clicking block).
It has Mtext "worktop [field] High" the [field] is looking at the attribute value so in theory should return the value the user types. But no only ---- shows. regen/regenall/battman fieldeval 31
Am I missing something i have pointed the field to tag/prompt as test and they show up in the mtext.
I have a drawing with many block references on it and they have some attributes.
I know how to find the block reference witch the attribute value, and even change it but I don't know how to select it once I have the object ID of the block.
How can I do the selection without asking the user to select it?
I have a nested entity block reference. In this entity I have three blocks. if I change any of the block reference attribute definition in the nested block reference then it is changing the original block itself.
Actually I am getting the handle of the selected block reference in the nested Entity. and change the attribute reference later. but it is making change in the block itself and other block reference too.
Here is my
static public void CONTACTS() { Document doc = Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument; Editor ed = doc.Editor; string contactName = string.Empty;//to hold contact name, from xdata [code].......
Is is possible to get the block handle from an attribute reference? I get the attribute reference from a previously stored attribute collection. I did try attref.BlockId.Handle.Value.ToString(), but it gives a different value, not the block's id.
Background: Someone exploded an attribute block and copied it hundreds of times throughout a project, each time changing the Attribute Tag to match the Value they expected to appear in their drawing. The drawing must be xrefed, so the attribute definitions do not appear.
(There is only 1 attribute in the block.)
Proposed Solutions:
1:AutoLISP routine which copies Tag data from Attribute Definition into Value of Attribute Block:
Prompt-Select Attribute Definition
Copy Tag data
Prompt-Select Attribute Block
Paste data into Value
(Allow repeat to speed workflow)(*PREFERRED*)
2:AutoLISP routine which copies Tag data from Attribute Definition into Default Value and creates a new Block:
Prompt-Select Attribute Definition
Copy Tag data
Paste data into Default Value
Create New Block
(Select Multiple Objects)(Creates tons of new blocks which are messy)
creating a block with attributes. I did manage to get my block set up and inserted in a dwg, but I am unable to change the "value" of any attribute. Unless I click on the "..." button next to the value field.
What I really want to do is on our fire alarm blocks we have 3 different attributes one for the address, the candela and one for misc info. I want to make an attribute that takes the number from the candela (15,30,75or 110) and change a different attribute to a value depending on which candela we use (such as 15=.078, 30=.113, 75=.195 or 110=.259). But I don't want the .078,.113,.195,.259 to print out on paper, I want to export block information excel file so I can add up all values.
I just opened up a project Sheet Set that i haven't worked on in a while, and all of my layout pages have a series of "#" in place of the fields. For example, the name of my viewport should read "Head Detail", which is the name given to that view in the Sheet Set Manager, but instead reads "##############". This also happens with my view numbers, callout bubbles, etc.
However, the information in my title block is still intact. For example, the Project Name, Client Name, Page Number, etc. all read the correct values.
I tried opening the drawings in Reference Manager, but I see no alerts or errors. I have had this happen before in previous versions going back to at least 2010, but they have always been small projects and I just recreated the views and callouts. This is a large project however, and redoing this will cost hours, if not days of extra work.
In examining the fields, it seems like the problem fields are those defined by the SheetSetPlaceholder Filed Name, and the Placeholder type is irrelevent; they are all broken. For other Field Names, for example CurrentSheetNumber, the references still work.
I want to copy attribute values. I'm making a catalogue of all the reinforcements in my drawing so I need to name those reinforcements. So what I want is to make a string of text that I don't need to totally modify everytime. Something like this:
Amount of reinforcement bars - 5 Diameter of the reinforcement - 12 Division of reinforcing bars - 100 Reinforcement bars: 5-T12-k100
So the only attributes I'd edit would be the first three not the last one. So how can this be accomplished?
I was writing code for my custom .net extension dll and one of the procedure involved therein was to replace the Text of MTEXT and DBTEXT entities with some predetermined Text String. I am using C#, AutoCAD 2012, and Visual Studio 2010. Here is the part of code wherein I am trying to replace the Text String of the MTEXT or DBTEXT entities.
foreach (SelectedObject selectedObject in selectionSet) { Entity currentEntity = transaction.GetObject(selectedObject.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForWrite, false) as Entity; if (currentEntity == null) { continue; } if (currentEntity.GetType() == typeof(MText)) { ((MText)currentEntity).Contents = textToCopy; } else { ((DBText)currentEntity).TextString = textToCopy; } } transaction.Commit();
The issue is that the text of the MTEXT or DBTEXT is not getting replaced with the string I am trying to. I debugged the code and it correctly hits the setting of MText.Contents == "Some String" and also transaction.commit(). But the text of the MTEXT still remains to the old value. Is this the correct way of changing the text of MTEXT / DBTEXT through the .Net API.
select all blocks on certain layers in a drawing, check attribute CIRCUIT in each block if it starts with MS then attribute CONTROL = switched. I hope thats clear enough the way
(defun c:control() (graphscr) (Setq sc (ssget "X" '((0 . "INSERT")
I have a routine that looks for an MText date stamp and replace the old date with a new date. The problem is some MText strings appear encrypted. Below is an example:
{\H1.121x;\C1; \LFY 2011-12\l \H0.6252x;04-30-11} This is what I should get when I extract the string (as shown in Property window)
(1 . "\pxi-2.1818,l4.3636,ql,t4.3636;{\fSymbol|b1|i0|c2") is what I get when I extract the group code.
Recently i came to know about LISP called INCREMENT it is so useful. But i have small problem with that It Increments only in X or Y direction or according to UCS. I am looking for a command which can increment along path. In my drawigns many numbers they are in a order by room wise, i have drawn a path on numbers so number should sort as per path direction..i have tried with ALTEXT LISP but iam not getting it is not corting my numbers along path.]
I am trying to change a text in attribute using vb.net.
I am using the following sub to update my attribute, if I use the message box I get correct information about the block, the attribute.tag I want to change and the text. The changes to my attribute are not saved.
Sub UpdateAttributeValue(ByVal BlockID AsObjectId, ByVal AttributeTag AsString, ByVal TextaStr AsString) Using myTrans AsTransaction = BlockID.Database.TransactionManager.StartTransaction Dim myBRef AsBlockReference = BlockID.GetObject(OpenMode.ForRead)
I need to create blocks in which the same text appears twice. I've created an invisible attribute to hold the text and created two mtext object containing fields that point to the attribute value.
The text fields show the default value of my attribute but will not change when the attribute is set on an placed instance. After setting the attribute on an instance I've tried UPDATEFIELD and REGEN but still I see the default value.
Is there any way to adjust width of attribute text so that it is not out of contained block. The attribute is set at left alignment and width factor <=1.
