AutoCAD 2013 :: Text Style Width Factor And DText / Attribute Updating

Sep 26, 2012

I am trying to get DText objects to update width factor when I change the Width Factor of the Text Style. We have one style (Simplex) & I hoped to be able to set the width factor of that style to 0.8 or 1.2 depending on what is required and then just insert objects from the tool palette so they have the correct width factor.

This seems to work for MText but not for DText or Attributes. Short of using lisp is there a to update the width factor of DText & Attributes? (hoping to be able to do this on LT also)

Only way I can see for DText is to qselect text and change style to something else and back to Simplex. Only way for attributes I've found is to advance edit block and change text style to something else and back.

Illustrator :: Block Text To Path -> Text Flow Along Resulting Path

Nov 5, 2013

I'm trying to create an effect of small text following the outline of very large bold block text (see picture).  The idea I had was to first create the 'ME' in very large font as text.  Then convert that text to an object / path using "Object -> Flatten Transparency... -> "Convert all text to outline"".  Then, select that path and use the "Type along path" tool.

However, when I use that process, the resulting path is a compound path that therefore the Type Along Path tool doesn't work.  Any pointers on how to achieve this?  The image below I just used the pencil to trace the letters (quick and dirty) but the result is choppy, etc.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Increment Numbered Text?

Sep 11, 2012

I want to be able to pull the numerical value of a text and be able to increment it by a specified amount to then rewrite the text to the new number...

More specifically i have a floor plan with numbered rooms say 1-100... These numbers refer to a separate schedule  with the actual room names and i am trying to keep them in order by plotted sheet... Say area "A" on the first sheet is numbers 1-10...

If halfway through the naming process i notice that i forgot a room in section "A" i now need to increment all the numbers 11-100 by one to 12-101 and add the room number to section "A" that now contains 1-11...

Currently i use TCOUNT to individually select each number in order 11,12,13,14 - 99, 100... to increment this way is very tedious and it would be easier if i could just select the numbers 11-100 with a bounding box and be able to extract the text, convert it to a number, increment, rewrite the original text for every selected text no matter of order..It has been so long since i have written lisp that i am not really sure where to begin..

AutoCAD VB :: 2011 Batch Convert Field Attribute To Text Attribute In Blocks Using VBA

Jun 3, 2011

I've got hundreds of files to convert.

In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks?  Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA?  The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.

Explode will not retain the value of the field.

Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.

You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM.  So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.

GIMP :: Text Along Path Not Placing Text At Beginning Of Path

May 17, 2012

I'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.

I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.

GIMP :: Text Along Path And Aligning Center Of Text With Path?

May 23, 2013

I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.

Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??

Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..

I've looked at some of the older posts and have not been able to do this. Is it possible to take the tag regerence, in this case OUTLET_REF and automatically add 1 to it when the symbol is inserted.

Can this be done using Diesel or with a bit of lisp?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Attributes Show Up As Text Without Manual Text Entry?

May 16, 2012

I would like to know how, if possible to make the attributes of a block show up as text.  Example:

I am working on a power utility design where each power pole has a sequential name and may or may not have units that need to be added into a contract.  I have my attributes set up where I can go in and assign a required number to a unit so I can export my data into excel.  The problem I am having is that I have to enter the text and change the attribute quantities separately.  Also, there are 40 or so different units and only a few certain ones required at each pole.  Is there a way to set the attribute only to display text if the quantity is greater than zero so my list is not 40 units long at each pole?

(I am using Autocad 2013, 64 bit)

GIMP :: Text To Path Not Working / Text Cut Off

Jan 29, 2013

want some text along a circular path and the result of "text to path" is ALWAYS text is truncated at the 19th character.GIMP 2.8.2 on Ubuntu 12.11

Process1. create a new background
2. make a circular selection
3. issue "select / to path" command
4. issue "select / none" command
5. create my text, 35 characters long on one line6. issue "text / along path" command

The text ALWAYS starts at the 12 o'clock position and is ALWAYS cut off at the 19th character! On the original circle the text cuts off at the 4 o'clock position. If I make the circle larger the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 2 o'clock

If I make the circle smaller the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 6 o'clock..All the circles are large enough for all the text to print around their circumference.

However, the "PT" text needs to be at about 70% of the size of the "S3" and be positioned almost like a superscript. It also needs to be a different colour for pen table reasons.

S3 = Colour 2, 0.35 text

PT = Colour 1, 0.25 text
