Is there a way to fit text to path, where the text has already been converted to curves?
I created some text, and then immediately clicked text along path. it created some weird little pink pixely shape. if i keep clicking it it makes more. And i can't get rid of it.
It's above every layer, and it's not actually on a layer. If i hide, or even remove, every single layer it is still there. How can i delete these weird shapes that i erroneously made with the text along path tool?
[URL] it's that weird spot about mid screen, and the text in the bottom left. i just can't figure out how to remove that stuff
I'm just getting the hang of GIMP and up and running on a project, until now. For some reason, I'm not able to get the kind of selections I want from using the Path and Scissors tools. Large pieces of the letters get cut off and its frustrating to say the least. I've heard about the edge logic problems and actually found out how to use the Path tool as a result. This still happens with Scissors after I've jacked the contrast all the way up, and its already in bw.
Now the obvious fix would be to just type what I'm wanting and go from there which should be simple. BUT, I'm not quite to the point where I can build it from scratch and the font is fairly specific.
I'm trying to create an effect of small text following the outline of very large bold block text (see picture). The idea I had was to first create the 'ME' in very large font as text. Then convert that text to an object / path using "Object -> Flatten Transparency... -> "Convert all text to outline"". Then, select that path and use the "Type along path" tool.
However, when I use that process, the resulting path is a compound path that therefore the Type Along Path tool doesn't work. Any pointers on how to achieve this? The image below I just used the pencil to trace the letters (quick and dirty) but the result is choppy, etc.
I have attached the file I am looking at. I have fitted text to path, but am using corel draw to create 'steps' for a GIF.
So, I am moving the text around the edge of the arch. When the text reaches the end of the arch, I would like it to connect back to the beginning and continue that way, but I don't really want to have to seperate the text and do it manually.
Is there a way to tell the 'curve' that the final and first node are connected without them being physically connected?
I'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.
I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.
I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..
For more years I can remember, I have been using CorelDraw4 - I use it for designs for t-shirts and various other printing requirements. A lot of this work involves fitting text to path, particularly round the bottom of a circle. I know how to do it in CorelDraw4, how to do it in Corel draw X5 - I can get wording on the top of the circle, but cannot get separate at the bottom of the circle.

View 6 Replies View Relatedhow to get text above and below a path. The path is a circle, and I want to achieve 2 words above the circle and 2 words below. I can get the words below, and to read the correct way round etc, or I can get the words above, but I cant achieve both at the same time
View 5 Replies View RelatedURl....I have never used a text box. Somehow when I copied my list of names from another page, I ended up with rows of them. I really really don't want to retype 132 names. I plan to put them on circles. When I try to do fit to path it says its invalid. I deal with text everyday and always know what I am doing. I know how to put text on a path. I just don't know how to do anything with these text boxes. If i break them apart, it first breaks them into individual names, and next into individual letters.
View 1 Replies View Relatedit seems like this much be simple. I have a text box and I find the fact that CDR displays the boundary box distracting. Can I not turn this off?

any possibility to edit in the registry.
I am attaching text to a path, but on the bottom of the ellipse, the text is upside down in relation to the text at the top of the ellipse. I am going nuts to try and resolve this. I have CD6 The Official Guide at my side, and no luck.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to stretch the width of text, once it is in an envelope or on a path? You can adjust the kerning(spacing), but I don't see anywhere that you can adjust the width of the letters.
An example: I have the word MAVERICKS on an arched path in a design. I want to change that design for the RAMS, so where it says MAVERICKS it will now say RAMS. The problem is RAMS is a much shorter word and I need it to stretch to the same width as the previously used MAVERICKS.
I have designed a C# application to To Print I Cards Of School. Here I am sending data from my application to a CDR FILE (Already Created ) Which Contains ADDRESS Text Field..Now I Need to Print Address(which contains 60 characters or more) on this Text field .
I Have Used The following c# Code.. To Replace Address text field that contains text 'Address '.....
s.Text.Replace('Address',"Text To be replaced .......")...here s is Active shape...
This Works Fine But How can i WRAP TEXT....of Address field.
I am trying to do text to path and I finally got it to work, but it is not bringing the text color that I assigned. Instead the text becomes a black outline of the real text. I uploaded this to the application I wanted to use it in, and the text was gone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some text blocks in Illustrator CS 6 that display the red plus sign that indicates overset text but there is no overset text. It occurs in files that were created with earlier versions of Illustator and now we are reworking them. It can't be deleted. I have cut the text in the box and pasted it into a new text box to no avail. It is not a screen artifact. I have tried copying everything in the file and pasting it into a new file and the little red plus sign comes along. It doesn't print, of course.

View 5 Replies View RelatedInstead of adding text as a prefix or suffix i would like to know if it is possible aswell to remove text from within text: For example:
I have these texts "I am not good", "he is not good", "what not to be" And i would like to remove the word "not" from all selected text so i would get "i am good", "he is good" , "what to be". The set word not will always be the same, so there is no need for user string input.
want some text along a circular path and the result of "text to path" is ALWAYS text is truncated at the 19th character.GIMP 2.8.2 on Ubuntu 12.11
Process1. create a new background
2. make a circular selection
3. issue "select / to path" command
4. issue "select / none" command
5. create my text, 35 characters long on one line6. issue "text / along path" command
The text ALWAYS starts at the 12 o'clock position and is ALWAYS cut off at the 19th character! On the original circle the text cuts off at the 4 o'clock position. If I make the circle larger the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 2 o'clock
If I make the circle smaller the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 6 o'clock..All the circles are large enough for all the text to print around their circumference.
I've tried every permutation of copy and paste; I renamed the path to path. It looks like a path when I add stroke, but it does not behave like one. I can't cut it or join it to any other path. It remembers it's text path status. I'm running OS X 10.7.5.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI accidentally converted a path to a text path. I searched the forum for how to convert it back to a regular path. The answer I found said to select the path and hit Command+C+F. This gives me another text path! I now have at least 6 copies of the path in my files but they are ALL text paths and none are visible with a stroke.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to use Text to path it only transfers 15-16 characters, ignoring the rest of the text. Why does this happen? E.g "I have a problem with gimp" will return "I have a proble".
I have tried several times with different texts and to different paths.
Using Gimp 2.8.2 on Linux.
Why the "Text along path" feature hovers the text so far above the currently active path? (in my case, the space between the path and the text is about 3 times the height of the currently used font!). I've been told that the letters should lie on top of or at least closer to the path instead. How can I move the text closer to the path?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy boss is using CorelDraw x5 on a Dell Studio lappy w/ win7 x64, his question is... If you accidentally stretch text and don't realize it till later is it given a value that can be compared to other text so you can conform it to the rest of the text? Is this a tool or what? The scenario is you accidentally stretch text minutely, save the file, copy and paste this text to another file with same format to realize later it has been manipulated and doesn't match.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had several CorelDraw documents that crashes on me, and the auto-backup did not work.
In all these documents, if I open the text paragraph window and typed on it, the entire program will crash if I exit that window after finishing.
I discovered that if I typed directly on the text paragraph, it will not crash. That means do not open the text paragraph window to do editing. But this makes editing very slow since it seems to be more memory intensive.
Strange the auto-backup directory/folder always do not have my backup files too.
I removed text from a rectangle and that message keep displaying in that rectangle.
