CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Stretching Text Width In Envelope Or On Path
Jun 21, 2011
Is there a way to stretch the width of text, once it is in an envelope or on a path? You can adjust the kerning(spacing), but I don't see anywhere that you can adjust the width of the letters.
An example: I have the word MAVERICKS on an arched path in a design. I want to change that design for the RAMS, so where it says MAVERICKS it will now say RAMS. The problem is RAMS is a much shorter word and I need it to stretch to the same width as the previously used MAVERICKS.
After I put an envelope on some text and then adjust the envelope (i.e. curve it upwards), I was wondering if you can still adjust letters' kerning with shape tool.
I'm trying to wrap an image around a curved object. This is a front elevation of a sign I am attempting to render and the sign wraps around a pole. What I am attempting to do is not just "squeeze" the copy but actually attempt to show what the image will look like if you are looking directly at it which means that the closest portion of the image will look normal but as you look further out towards the edges then the graphic and copy would appear to merge and disappear backwards. I hope I am explaining this well. I am trying to wrap my brain around this concept. I know you can do this in photoshop with stretching but cannot fathom how I can attempt this in CorelDraw or Illustrator.
I am new to CorelDRAW. I am using it to generate scientific application notes that contain both graphics and text. I am running into a problem where I have a negative number that is close to the end of a text line (using justified format). CorelDRAW wants to treat the negative like a hyphen and keep the "-" on one line and then moves the number to the next line. For example, if the phrase "...cooling to -150 C for 5 minutes..." were to wrap across a line, it would look like:
"...cooling to -
150 C for 5 minutes..."
Instead of:
"...cooling to
-150 C for 5 minutes..."
The only way I can figure out how to get past it is to change the width of the text box so the lines wrap in different places. I have tried adding a space or two, adding hidden text (text with the same color as the background).
I am unable to select nodes and edit or delete them when using an envelope. I double-click or click and drag, and nothing happens. What do I need to do?
What I want to do is something like the envelope tool, but actually stretch an image from the center-points (kind of like the old pincushion settings in a CRT monitor):
I played around with the mesh warp tool, but that thing seems nearly impossible to fine tune even when I use the magnifier.
The tool "Warp Brush" would probably work with some delicacy, but seems to be exclusive to Paint Shop Pro, and the smear tool obviously will not work...
how to get text above and below a path. The path is a circle, and I want to achieve 2 words above the circle and 2 words below. I can get the words below, and to read the correct way round etc, or I can get the words above, but I cant achieve both at the same time
URl....I have never used a text box. Somehow when I copied my list of names from another page, I ended up with rows of them. I really really don't want to retype 132 names. I plan to put them on circles. When I try to do fit to path it says its invalid. I deal with text everyday and always know what I am doing. I know how to put text on a path. I just don't know how to do anything with these text boxes. If i break them apart, it first breaks them into individual names, and next into individual letters.
A client sent me their logo where the name is straight across. They would now like to wrap it around the circle in their logo... They do not know the name of the font, what the font couldn't id it, not much response on their forum...
Is there a way to fit text to path, where the text has already been converted to curves?
I am attaching text to a path, but on the bottom of the ellipse, the text is upside down in relation to the text at the top of the ellipse. I am going nuts to try and resolve this. I have CD6 The Official Guide at my side, and no luck.
My boss is using CorelDraw x5 on a Dell Studio lappy w/ win7 x64, his question is... If you accidentally stretch text and don't realize it till later is it given a value that can be compared to other text so you can conform it to the rest of the text? Is this a tool or what? The scenario is you accidentally stretch text minutely, save the file, copy and paste this text to another file with same format to realize later it has been manipulated and doesn't match.
I use Corel Draw X6.4 on a 64-bit Windows 7 PC, but since the first installation of Corel Draw X6 I have following problem:
I use millimeters as metric scale and when I create any object, the object manager states that the outline width of that object is set to 2 mm, but it is obvious that the width is only 0.2 mm. Now if I try to change the outline width to 1 mm, Corel draws the outline with a width of 10 mm instead and the object manager says that the width is even 100 mm. To solve that problem I always have pressed the Undo-button, so the width changes to the desired 1 mm but the object manager still tells me that the width is 10 mm.
I am using CGS12 along with my Epilog laser. The Epilog treats all line-widths up to 0.003" as vector (for cutting) and anything above this as raster (subject to DPI settings).
I have been using 'Hairline' as my vector but recently hit a problem and would like to guarantee that a line defined by a label such as 'Hairline' will always be below 0.003" in width (and therefore a cut-line on the Epilog).
I use and really like Corel Draw X3 (almost 3 years) and will keep that version on one P4 computer that runs win xp pro 32 bit.
X3 has been a great version that never crashes but it is getting slow as I increase the number of objects and symbols in my files. I have a new comp with win 7 pro 64 bit running CDraw X6 and the latest epilog 64 bit driver for my mini 24. I have been using the new X6 for 3 days .
In X3 a hairline or .001 is a vector cut. A line width of .005 and above are raster lines and they work well in my Epilog mini 24. I am using a 1.5" diam lens. In X6 a .005 line will not raster but only vectors. If I change it to .006 it becomes a raster line and will engrave OK.
The big Question:
Is there a way to make .005 raster as it did in X3? I have hundreds of files that are all .005 line width. I don't mind changing them but would rather not.
Could this change be because of the latest Epilog 64 bit driver that I am using with win 7 pro? Almost all my files have oddles of very fine detail (.005) and they would look a bit muddy changing the line width to .006.
Looking to see if corel has any way to scale an open outline along its path from one size to another. So for example a curvy open ended line would start with a stroke of 2 pt and end with a stroke of 20 pt?
I love the function in Photoshop in which you can stroke a selection with a brush. Was wondering if that was possible in CorelDraw X4 as well. I know that we can put text on a path, but is that also working with objects?
Since I like making patterns, I would like to place and distrubute objects along a circle or hexagon shape (and other simple shapes).
all of we know about photoshop and many of us using it I am also using it for several months clipping path seems most interesting to me but I a little confusion about clipping path because it can duplicate any image what is your opinion?
I've noticed that sometimes when I use an artistic media brush around a closed path, I can't change the brushstroke color without filling the path with that color; see the attached file for an example. I thought that was just unfortunately the way it was.But today I watched Jeff Harrison's video tutorial [URL]...about making a custom brush. He applies it to a closed path, and then, to my surprise, he changes the color and it just changes the color of the brushstroke.
I followed the tutorial, made the brush, applied it to a rounded rectangle, all fine. However, when I changed the color, the center of the rectangle filled with the color as well as changing the brush color, as it always has for me in the past. So what's wrong? Do I have some setting somewhere set to the wrong thing? (I don't have Fill Open Curves checked.)
After two years of no problems invoking Draw or Photo, I received this message today when I tried to start both Draw and Photo... I downloaded and ran the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 (and CorelDRAW Premium Suite X5) Service Pack 3 but it failed because it couldn't find my X5 suite installed on my computer.
I found Oberon Fit Objects To Path as a very interesting macro and i tried to download it.I have downloaded the zip file from Oberon website , but an Error showed up on my screen saying: "Unable to find CorelDraw x5 installation"...
I know the reason for this is because of the x5 version, which i don't have in my system. But i have also downloaded some other macros that are x4 or x5 versions and they are working excellent on my CorelDraw x6.
Any other macros similar to the "oberon Fit Objects To Path" macro?
why (sometimes) when I export text or graphics as .eps files to my cutter it cuts the same outline up to four to five times and ends up cutting right through the backing paper. I have been using postcut with various corel editions since 1997 with no problems until recently. It also cuts random lines through lines of text which is such an expensive pain in the ass.
I started to use the production manager in flexi sign to cut my designs and same thing happens, except for the random lines but it will make up to five cuts on some objects. All text and graphics are exported the same. Has something in corel newer versions changed in relation to this?
