View 1 RepliesI am having a problem that may be a simple solve (but not for me). My image disappears after applying a rectangle to it. I have tried "bring to front" and don't know what else to try.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I mask an image - or actually - mask a group of several complex images, when I release the mask it is impossible to ungroup the images. Is there a way to make masked groups but then not have that happen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm intermediate (at best) with Illustrator. I'm using CS6 on a 2009 iMac. How to make Illustrator ignore stroke weight/cap/join settings when I'm applying a live rotate/multiple copy effect on a group of paths? Currently, Illustrator sets the rotation point to the outermost part of my stroke (figuring in the strokes atrributes), but I only want it to calculate the from the path's structure: the coordinates of my designated anchor point.
Here's the top/right group of paths with a rotate/ 3 copies effect of 90 degrees. Looks problem-free at this view.
Here's that top/right group of paths with the addition of a reflect/ 1 copy effect of X-axis. Still no apparent problems.
But here's a close up of the misalignment of corner points. As shown, the Transform effect is based off the strokes attributes (the tip of its corner), not the actual location of the corner point.
It does not apply different cap/corner styles or stroke alignments; that only slightly nudges the pivot point to the center.
Plus, this one point stroke is somewhat arbitrary. I only set it so in order to see my dynamic effects.
Tweaking the vertical/horizontal moves effects of the rotated/copied elements won't support because this art will later undergo lots of alteration, mostly changes in stroke weight (maybe even variable stroke width).
I need the skeleton of my structure to snap together precisely.
Any solution, no matter how roundabout, would save this project!
I'm using CS5. When I click on an object within a group containing only that object, appearance tap shows the group's appearance. I can't select the object when the group only has one object. So if I want to modify the object, I have to ungroup or add additional object into the group.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just applied the Adobe Illustrator patch for CS6 this morning bringing it up to version 16.0.2. Ever since then, when I apply a stroke to an object,it deforms it. When I update the stroke weight, it deforms it.
This is making the program completely unusable.
I'm working on a portfolio site and want to apply a desaturation/black and white adjustment just to one group, instead of having to individual adjust every image. However, whenever I do so, it applies the effect to the entire background of my image. Is there a way to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a grouped object with a line in it. I want to rotate the grouped object so, that the line in the object is horizontal or vertical. Now I do it by hand, this takes a lot of time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm doing an animation for a progress indicator. Basically I have a set of 72 spokes, and I'm using sub-set of these spokes with varying transparency to show the underlying gray layer through.
I've seperated each spoke into 72 different layers, and I'm then manually adjusting each one for each frame.
The effect works great, but I've decided that I would like to apply an adjustment to all of the spokes to adjust their color balance. I've got an adjustment layer, but this is affecting my gray layer underneath.
I've tried layer sets, linking layers and grouping, but none seem to allow me to apply an adjustment to a group of layers. I'm using Photoshop 7.
I used a quick mask to remove a background from an image and when I place the image into Indesign CS2 (Using Photoshop CS2) I can see a small white edge around the masked photo.
This is going to print at 2400 dpi four color and I don't want my customer looking at it and saying it's not up to par.
Is there any way to remove the effect I described?
Is there a way to create an object/group in Illustrator and then copy it across one document in multiple places (multiple art boards, etc.) - allowing the designer to then update the original and seeing the changes cascade to all copies?
I know this can be done using InDesign by linking an Illustrator file and making subsequent updates to that Illustrator file. But I do not want to use InDesign, I want to use Illustrator. What I want is much like creating Symbols in Flash, updating one will cascade throughout the file.
I am trying to despeckle an old photogrpahy and when I click to apply the desired settings, it reverts back to the original and no effect is applied? Why????
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to use an image as a background for a label but I want the image to look fainter than normal so that it appears to be in the distant background. I think this can be done with filters but I have no idea how to go about it.
I want my text and logo to dominate the scene.
I am currently trying to cut out a word from another word in Illustrator. I have managed to do this several times before but both options I have used in the past simply are not working for me today.
As you can see from the attached image, I have 'cut out' the word 'I'm' from the word 'hungry'. (You can see straight through to what ever colour, fabric etc is underneath the logo).
Today I am trying to update my logo and the usual methods aren't working for me.
1. Type > Create Outlines > Divide
2. Object >Compound Path > Make
Usually I can simply delete the 'cut out' text from the image but I keep receiving an error messages that I don't understand.
1. "The filter cannot complete because more than one object is selected"
2. "Can't make a compound path. All objects in a compound path must be paths, and they cannot be brushed or part of an object."
I am a complete novice and I have never encountered these errors before. What used to be a simple 3 step cut out command is now a nightmare. I must be doing something wrong, maybe I have missed a step and not realised?
I want to use the comic filter that is in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 in Adobe Photoshop CS6. How can I duplicate this filter exactly?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this is mind-numbingly obvious and I am overlooking it, but when I go to use the rotate tool, the center point of the rotation is defaulting to the center of the artboard, not the selected group of objects. How do I change that to default to rotating on the selection center by default?
PS. This is Illustrator CC (17.0.2) on a Mac running 10.9, if that is relevant.
I've been using AutoCAD since R14 and I've never had this problem. Recently installed 2013 as we upgraded from 2012 and started using a license server instead standalone licenses.
I like to setup a specific Group Filter (among others) that has my most used layers (for example centerline layer, hidden layer, paper layer, etc.). I create the Group Filter and label it "EN Layers" (Entertainment Layers). I then populate it with the aforementioned layers and layer "0". Now if I want to create a whole new layer and have it be part of the group filter (EN Layers), I used to be able to select the "New Layer" button in the "Layers Property Manager", have it create the new layer in the currently selected group filter, rename the layer and it would appear in the group filter.
As of recently, when I create the new layer in the group filter and rename it, I can see the name as I type it, but when I hit enter to save the name, it defaults back to Layer1 and saves the name as that. If I immediately create another layer inside of the group filter and rename it and press enter, both layers are updated with the names I typed. It seems like the "Layer Properties Manager" isn't refreshing fast enough.
How do I find out the exact size of a graphic or image after it has a clipping mask applied in Illustrator CS4? When you just select the image or do Ctrl+A it shows the entire image size(including the masked unwanted portion) in the transform palette and I just need the final dimensions of the image. How I can find out what the masked image size is?

I have been given a problem that involves a group of objects and images that have been masked. When i duplicate the group, move it and make some changes, on reopen it seems some of the masked images are duplicated and appear in the original position before they were moved?
Although they are masked out they are obviously not good. These images also appear in the link panel without any thumbnails.
how to mess with text to make them look like this (collegue need to make translated book cover) I suggested to use Displace but it's tricky...need to find proper background etc. Maybe there is some PS or Illustrator filter or filter group which applied gives such effect?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have determine that my AutoCad 2009 will allow me to drag/drop layers to an existing Group Layer Filter, but it will not allow me to right click on the Group Filter>Select Layers>Add. Once I go to the model space an select layers then "enter" no layers are added to the Filter Group and it gives me an error message that says "unable to modify layers while another command is active".
View 0 Replies View RelatedWhy my AutoCad 2009 will not let me select new layers to a specific group layer filter. It was working just fine and yesterday all of sudden it will not let me add new layers to a specific filter. Is there a button or command that maybe would have changed that function. Everything else seems to be working on the Layer Manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a lot of Group Layer Filters so I can turn things on/off quickly. My problem is I have been creating my Layer Filter Group by right clicking on the Layer Group Filter>going to Selection>then click Add> then go back to my drawing or Layout tab and select all of the layers I need then click enter. One day my AutoCad would not let me do that anymore, and even after I click on enter it gives me an error message saying the command is still active. Now from my Layer Properties Manager I can select any layer and drag/drop it into any filter and it works, but I really need to be able to select things within the model space or paper of each layout tabs.
