AutoCAD 2010 :: Draw Line Segment On The Surface Of 3D Object?
May 3, 2012I made a 3D box shape in AutoCAD. I would like to draw a line on one of the surfaces of the box. Also I know you can use the the linear tool under Annotations to display dimensions of 2D lines. But I don't know how to do it so that it that shows the dimension on a vertical axis as shown in the picture below.

Mar 4, 2013Software: ACAD LT 2010. Recently I upgraded to a new computer and Windows 7, from Win XP. Now ACAD is lagging and dragging. Also, sometime it takes forever to open a file.

CorelDRAW X4 :: Dragging Object To Desktop Doesn't Put It On Layer?
Feb 23, 2009I used CorelDraw X4 to Open several 48 page PDFs (File, Open, open the PDF.) The PDFs consist of 6 images per page in a grid - no text, nothing fancy. Everything works great, except that in the CDR files that were originally created by openening the PDFs if I drag one of the original photos or any object that I've drawn in CorelDraw on one of the pages to the desktop, it doesn't move to the desktop layer as I'm used to but instead stays on the page layer for the individual page it was dragged from and thus is only visible when the original page is up even though it's outside the page area unless I manually change its layer (I ususually use the desktop as a quick way to move objects between pages faster than using the clipboard.)
This is probably something silly, a setting that I've never used -- how to make it so any object dragged off the page to the desktop area is moved from Page 1 Layer 1 for example to the Desktop Layer so it's visible to all pages, and can then be dragged form the Desktop to Page 2 Layer 1 for example.

Jul 21, 2013When I click and drag with the direct selection tool, I'm getting a drag on the object rather than a marque for selecting points. As soon as I click, the tool switches to the black arrow tool. Did I mess up a setting somewhere? I'm not using any modifier keys.

Aug 14, 2011is this possible. A lot of programs auto-duplicate when you drag and press either the shift or ctrl or alt key. Its a habit ive gotten pretty into. Plus, its a little akward for me to go from a left click immeadeitaly into a right click with the mouse. I always feel like i've dragged the object a little bit when I switch fingers. it would be great to just add a hot key of shift+drag to this feature, wouldnt even have to turn off the standard right click option, I could deal with both being there.

Jul 12, 2012I'm refining some SVG files, imported into GIMP as paths. I added numerous guides on the images and drag anchors to the guides. All the paths consist of straight lines only. The problem is that on some anchors GIMP performs the "drag curve" operation instead of the "drag anchor". As a result, my straight lines become broken (curved).
The only solution I've found so far is to apply maximum zoom level, say 400%, and repeat the dragging in this resolution. This makes GIMP work properly, at least, I'm able to "drag anchor" as expected. But switching back and forth to the 400% zoom level is a bit annoying and inconvenient.
Is there a better way to "say" GIMP that "dragging anchor" is the "dragging anchor", not "dragging curve"?

Say, I created a square and extruded it into a block. Then I want to look at one of the sides and poke 3 holes in it. My problem is I cannot use annotate to change the geometrical constraints on them, like if my circle is out of place or if it is too large or small.( or at least they don't show up for me.)
I'm learning about the UCS system but I thought if I moved the UCS system to the face I want to draw on and change from 3d modeling back to 2d annotation I can go ahead and annotate from that face of interest.

Aug 16, 2011I just stated using AutoCAD 2006 this summer as an intern for an engineering department. The program has become pretty easy to use and I thought i was getting the hang of it.
All of a sudden, when i draw a line, circle, or another shape, i can't see the input bar that floats at the end of the line.
What im talking about is the small display that always sticks to the end of the object your drawing. It displays the angle the line is drawn at, you can see what measurement you're typing in.

Aug 23, 2012Whenever i draw a new line, hatch etc - Autocad draws the object with a certain lineype. Then after i draw the line i have to manually click the line and set it's linetype to "By layer". It doesn't matter which layer i set as current, it never draws by layer, allways by this other linetype.
Using Cad 10 Architecture - But tried opening the file on other versions aswell, with the same result.

May 30, 2012Is there are tool somewhere where you can make the draw order layer specific. I.e so we have a layer with a certain number of items on it that always appear above another layer with other types of items.
We tend to use leaders a fair bit and they often drop below some of our design elements, ideally we want them to be at the front & have to spend time bringing to front / sending to back etc.

Oct 1, 2012What is the smallest object I can draw and "SEE" in AutoCAD? I was hoping to prove a point in my introductiory AutoCAD class, but it appears I have been lying!! I tried to draw a cirlce with a diameter of 1.24E-10m. The dot shows up, but I cannot zoom to it. I tried using an enormous zoom scale, but did not have any luck. I am almost positive my instructor introduced the capabilites of AutoCAD by drawing a full scale helium atom, and that was release 14. Is this still possible? Obviously the atom can be drawn, but what are the zoom limitations?
