After Effects :: Does Adobe Dynamic Links Slow Down The Rendering Process
Feb 9, 2013
I have a question concerning Adobe Dynamic Links.
This is my problem : I work on After Effects. I have a composition that is rendered quite fast. (almost in real time...)
But when I open the linked comp in Premiere Pro, it lags as hell. Maybe 2x, 3x slower.
So I'd like to know why Adobe Premiere Pro is slow, while After Effects is fast ?

that is having really slow performance using AE CS6 or AECC and possibly AE CS5.5 I think i might of found out what the problem is.My System specs are below:
Dell T7600 Dual XEON E5-2687W 3.1/3.8GHz w turbo / Dell M6700 i7 -3940XM 3.9GHz
64GB Ram / 32GB Ram
Nvidia Quadro K5000 / Nvidia Quadro K5000M
Windows 7 x64
Here are the issues I was having
- Really slow performance when scrubbing along the timeline.
- Adaptive Resoltion wasn't working at all super slow previewing
- Multiprocessor rendering not working, or taking forever to start up, and sometimes it would work but still not the way it should it was hit or miss
- Disk Caching not working
- many others that I can't think of at the moment
SOLUTION for slow scrubbing of the timeline for Quad, Six and Eight core systems
Here is what I figured out after hours and hours of testing and configuring. I even went back to AE CS5.5 to see if all these problems existed in that version. Although some did but not all
From what I can tell it looks like certain plugins are not compatible to Quad, Six and Eight Core machines. The main plugin that has the problem is Keylight 1.2 that comes bundled now with CS6 and CC.
If you turn off the plugin on your layers scrubbing the timeline speeds up and works like it should. If you want to use keylight then do the following:
- under screenmatte, set the screen softness to 0
- shrink and grow to 0.
If you use any number other than these settings it causes scrubbing and rendering of the timeline to go extremely slow.
SOLUTION for all the issues above for Quad, Six and Eight core systems
After hours and hours of testing I have come to the conclusion that AE CS6 and CC don't work well with Quad, six and eight core systems in general and especially with the keylight plugin.
FIX: Go into your Bios of your computer and set your multiple core to either 1, 2 cores, theis will give you 2 thread or 4 threads. This will fix all the issues as stated below. I haven't tested 4 cores yet but soon will.
But I know that 6 and 8 cores definitely does not work it causes all the major issues above.
After setting my system to 1 or 2 cores, Ae is extremelly fast and responsive. Timeline scrubbing is super fast now even with keylight 1.2 and all it's settings. Adaptive resolution now works, Multiprocessing starts up
immediately and disk caching is working.
Conclusion
I am not able to set my system to use 8 or all cores in my bios, This causes so many performance issues in AE CS6 and CC and some in even CS 5.5. I need to use either 1 or 2 cores. As you might no this really sucks when I am limiting myself to only 4 threads when I could be using 32 threads. Pleas Adobe look into this issues with these systems that have 4, 6 or 8 core systems. This could possibley just be for Dual core systems too since that is what I have here.

We have an issue where one of our users are struggling with very poor performance during the pre-render stage.
This is especially clear during the following stages
Press "Render" button (takes around 20 second before anything happens)
Pre-Processing scene (takes around 20 second to complete)
Translation Scene & Translation Object (takes around 7 minutes to complete)
This is runned on a HP Z800 workstation with pretty hefty specifications, and a Nvidia GTX 580 graphic card. What is weird is that the user also has another machine with a bit lesser specs and a GTX 295 graphics card that finishines these same tasks using the same files around 6 times faster.
The machine shows no sign of a general performance issue, and when it eventually reaches the rendering stage it performs as expected.
Using 3DS Max 2012 SP1 and Win7 64bit on both machines

Converting my apps from .NET 35 to .NET 40 was not too painful except for the debugging speed! Why is AutoCAD 2013 so slow....
Should I be building my apps on a 32bit box and then do the final build on a 64bit box?

After creating a reflection of a text extrusion in CS6 Extended, when I select 3D>Render the rendering process erases the reflection. The opacity is up and the selected colors are quite visible. This does not happen all the time, just most of the time. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or is this a bug?

I have problem with rendering. I record Videos on my Panasonic SDT750 and they are in AVCHD format. I usually use two options Render video "same as first clip" (whilst all videos are the same) or upload to you tube in 16:9 format. When I start to render, the process starts and just stop sometimes at 2% sometimes at 4% and dosen't show any error message. It worked previously with no problem.
I tried to restart the software, nothing.. I tried to re-install, nothing.. This problem seems to occure after latest update. My desktop spec. should be ok, like I said it worked fine before.
I run Win7 Professional 64bit, processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), RAM: 16GB and graphics card: GeForce GTX 570 from NVIDIA.
I didn't make no changes in settings, everything is as it was first time installed.

I am trying to complete my first project in X3 with a new computer. I have done many projects on an older computer with VS 10. I X3 stops working during the rendering process everytime I try to make a video file. I'm making a 4:3 mpeg 2 file (DVD). I have tried several different ways and the most I can get done is 24%. i have tried to cut out a clip..I get a dump file each time that it tells me to send to Corel.

I was wondering if there are some Photoshop filters which are very slow in processing images.
For example images of 0.2GB, 0.5GB, or even 1GB can be processed in few seconds with all filters? Or there are some filters requiring a longer time, something like minutes?

I've downloaded the trial version of Lightroom 4.1 to give a try with my raw files.
First LR is very slow at generating the preview (takes about 30 sec for some files), the only filter applied at import is "Lens correction".
When Applying corrections, it takes seveal seconds to see it on the preview and there is also a lot of lag.
Maybe is a limitation of the trial ? My RAW files are CR2 from a DSLR Canon EOS 60D (18 Mpix): 5184x3456.
I try LR on the following setup:
OS: Windows 7 SP1 32bit
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
RAM: 2 GB
HD system: 7200 RPM 300 GB
Screen resolution: 1920x1080

i have a rendering problem... rendering a cfx on the timeline keeps interrupting ... I get an error message "rendering interrupted. cannot process connectfx "
I tried to disconnect all footage which lead into action and rendered them one by one to find out which footage is the problem... the 5K red footage makes the problem.what I need to do is to auto stabilize the 5k clip (which was due to a bug(?) not possible inside cfx, so I did it with the desktop tools) than brought the clip inside cfx, added a modular keyer node, than a timewarp node than went inside action... than back to the 1920x1080 timeline
the problem started suddendy. rendering worked fine (keying the 5k footage, timewarping.. axis... ) ... than I added another media into action, did some axis animations and the problem started (but if I disconnect the media I added, same rendering error..)

I have a Nikon D7k which I have been shooting in RAW and converting using Adobe DNG converter 6.4 to process in Lightroom 2. (I have a G4 (PPC) Mac with OS 10.5.8. LR2 is the last version this Mac can run.) The converted files look rather poor and require substantial effort to achieve an acceptable result in LR. JPEGs look much better out-of-the-camera. I looked at some of the RAW files in Nikon ViewNX2 and they looked much, much better. Unfortunately, there is some sort of color space conflict with LR2 which I have been unable to resolve.
Any way other than shooting in JPEG, which I am presently doing, until such time as I get a new computer which will run the latest versions of LR and PS?

I have a notebook with specification as mentioned below :
Lenovo Ideapad Y470P 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB) Windows 7 Ultimate x64 AMD Radeon HD 7690 2GB 8.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz 750GB 5400
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) for doing my job.Right now, i have a task to create a banner with dimension 800 x 900 Centimeters with Resolution 300 DPI and Color Mode RGB 16 Bit.The file size when blank is about 56.1 GB.The problem is, when i add some text with Horizontal Type Tool and click on the Move Tool, the Rendering Type screen show up and take a very very long time to finished.
I have made some configurations to my Photoshop that i found on Adobe Forum, but the problem still persisted.
Some configurations that i've made is :
- Turn off the Automatically Save Recovery Information
- Set Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility to Ask
- Set the Memory Usage to 95%
- Set the Cache Levels to 8 and Cache Tile Size to 1024K
- Set the Graphics Advanced Settings to Drawing Mode Advanced, and Check the option Use Graphics Processor To Accelerate Computation, and Uncheck the option Anti-Alias and 30 Bit Display
- Set the Scratch Disk to another partition ( C:System D:PageFile E:Data F:Scratch Disk)
And after all of that configuration, my Photoshop still slow when Rendering Type.

I created a 30min video, with a lot of photos mixed with live video, transitions, music, etc. Now, when I try to reopen the file for futher editing, it appears the software needs to re-render all the thumbnails in my video track stream. As I mentioned, I have a lot of photos in there, so it's taking forever.
With the previous software I used (Pinnacle Studio), I could flush the cache and have the program rebuild (and store) all the thumbnail info for faster loads in subsequent sessions.

I have Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X6 and am having problems rendering clips in slow motion.
I have recorded at 50p in full HD. In Video Studio I have slowed the clips down to 25%, and when I do a preview in the editor, it looks fantastic. However when I render to a MP4 file it looks terrible. You can see every frame.
How do I render and get at least the same quality as I get in the preview window?
Here is the video I am talking about. [URL]...... through to about 30 seconds to see the jumping.

It used to be that when rendering a timeline, there would be no lag between rendering the first and second videos. Now, between each video there is about a 30 second transition before the next video begins rendering. Anything that would have caused this, or is there anyway to prevent it? If I am rendering a timeline with 60 clips that need rendering, this can add a significant amount of time.

I just checked whether the update to 5.2 would improve speed of rendering images in the Develop module for Nikon D800 NEF files but alas, LR is still taking its time to render images and going back and forth between two or more D800 NEF files to check focus at 100% magnification remains an excercise in meditation....
I had initially hoped that the move from LR 4.x to LR 5 would improve things but this wasn't the case - so when will Adobe finally catch up with the development in cameras with ever bigger files? The Nikon D800 came out one full year ago...

Slow rendering image previews in import dialogue?
My LR 5 is as slow as a snail generating those previews.
Importing my RAWs form the EOS 6D (saved on a 95MB/s 32 BG SanDisk Extreme Pro) it renders only the 12 or 24 displayed previews and leaves out the rest (the next only when I'm scrolling down). For 12 images LR5 needs 8-10 seconds. LR4.4 does the same process for all 150 RAWs in 1-2 seconds.
It doesn't matter if I want to import to my workstation (Dell Precision T1650, 8core Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2, 16GB RAM, 64bit) via USB 3.0 (Reader & Port) or to my laptop (Dell Latitude E6400). So it must be LR, not my hardware.
Are there known issues with the Canon-RAW format? I just updated EOS firmware to 1.1.3, but the renderspeed stays the same. For 1 image 3-4 seconds single...

Weve recently updated our systems at our office to OS Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Im currently using AutoCad Architecture 2010. We also upgraded to Adobe Acrobat X.
The iissue i have is when plotting to PDF (selecting Adobe PDF as printer) it takes a long time to spool. Sometimes it takes as much as 4 mins before it completes the PDF. Other times it just crashes.
This is the first im using Acrobat X. Previoulsly i was using Acrobat 8 without issues. My thought is there might be a compatibility issue with the new version of Adobe X. Or perhaps its a simple as the settings im using. The other user in my office is running the same system, but hes using Acrobat 9, and of course his works flawlessly?
The temporary work-around is Exporting to PDF within AutoCAD.

Is there a reason that After Effects keeps crashing and only getting to a certain render point when pressing "0"? If I split projects into different compositions I don't tend to get the same issues, but it's more pain than it's worth spiting one video into 4 parts.

I am trying to make about a 7 second clip of some photography (converted into that cool 3D paralax effect) with a lens flare and a CC light rays effect. The damn thing took two hours and was less than halfway done, which seemed extremely long to me. Here is my setup:
i7 4770 (2 processes for system, and 6 for AE, with 2 gigs per process)
Nvidia 760 4bg
32 gigs ram (4 set aside for system and the rest for Creative Cloud stuff)
SSD: system, media cache
HDD: projects, files
Everything else I've tried to render has been reasonable times. For instance 5 minute clips usually take about 15 minutes. I've tried variations of the multiprocessing tab to no avail, and changing the media cache to HDD which didn't work also. Just seems like something is going terrible wrong.
So I guess my question is twofold.
1) How important would it be to get another drive? (I'm between adding one SSD or getting 2 HDD's per my budget, which presents another question of would a 2 SSD, 1 HDD setup be better than a 1 SSD, 3 HDD setup)
2) Do I possibly have something configured wrong?

I'm reconstructing an old document originally developed with PageMaker. I've recreated a half dozen pages hopefully with more uniform techniques. The original line art for the pages was created in AutoCad and some were scans. To bring them into InDesign some of the art is now in psd format and some of the newer art is in Illustrator AI format.
I've noticed that the pages with photoshop art print pretty quickly (about 30 seconds). The ones with Illustrator art take much longer (about 1:30 seconds). They go through a flattening process.
I print these 50 page books on demand and that additional time would add about an hour.
I guess the question is whether this is normal and to be expected or not. If it is I'll likely turn everything into raster before going into InDesign. That, however, seems like quite a bit of extra work. Going from AutoCad to Illustrator (to add stroke) then to PhotoShop to change to raster and then into InDesign seems like a pretty convoluted work flow.
