Importing ceases during the rendering preview process at image 2 of set. Same if using SD or Flash Cards, small or large import. No problems using Bridge so reader is operational.
View 4 RepliesI've just exported as catalog 2 images from an older catalog ( process version 2010 into LR5. there was no way to automatically convert them to 2012 process.I had to turn on the calibration panel in Develop mode and then set it to 2012 and then copy the 2012 calibration to the other image.
As a check, I checked this by exporting 1 image that was process version 2010 into LR5 and it automatically made it 2013,
Then I checked it again, imported a catalog from LR 4.3 which had only process version 2010 images in. The import upgraded and disgarded the temp library used in the upgrade process, and again, there was no option to automatically convert the images to PV2013.

Yesterday when I was importing my pictures from the CF card the energy was off for a couple om minutes (a failure in the electrical net in the town) and the computer crashes (or something like that). When electricity came back I restarted LR and tried to import the images once again. Result: images are in the hard disk, they were imported correctly but no preview was rendered at all!. In the preview lrdata folder I can see two files root-pixels and root-pixels.db-journal that are there since yesterday (I do not know what they mean)...if I try to render previews from the Libray menu....nothing happens....seems that LR does not like to render previews from my most recent import..
I do not know what to do with the next import...so my new images are still in the corresponding CF card...
I've been a LR user since before 1.0. Never had any sorting problems. Now using 3.5 on a 2009 24" iMac, running Lion. Today I'm trying to sort for a web gallery in a collection, as I always have done, and cannot sort. User Sort is selected when I move a picture, the black bar appears where it should, but when I release the mouse, the picture goes bact to where it was. I have tried deleting preferences, and restarted several times.

So it's quite hard to figure out which ones have already been imported or are not worth to be imported. When I connect my EOS 6D I can see the Thumbnails of the .cr2 files. Is there anything that needs to be configured in order to show the previews?

The opacity is up and the selected colors are quite visible. This does not happen all the time, just most of the time. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or is this a bug?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have problem with rendering. I record Videos on my Panasonic SDT750 and they are in AVCHD format. I usually use two options Render video "same as first clip" (whilst all videos are the same) or upload to you tube in 16:9 format. When I start to render, the process starts and just stop sometimes at 2% sometimes at 4% and dosen't show any error message. It worked previously with no problem.
I tried to restart the software, nothing.. I tried to re-install, nothing.. This problem seems to occure after latest update. My desktop spec. should be ok, like I said it worked fine before.
I run Win7 Professional 64bit, processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), RAM: 16GB and graphics card: GeForce GTX 570 from NVIDIA.
I didn't make no changes in settings, everything is as it was first time installed.
I am trying to complete my first project in X3 with a new computer. I have done many projects on an older computer with VS 10. I X3 stops working during the rendering process everytime I try to make a video file. I'm making a 4:3 mpeg 2 file (DVD). I have tried several different ways and the most I can get done is 24%. i have tried to cut out a clip..I get a dump file each time that it tells me to send to Corel.

My media cache is set to Pro Res 422.
I want to take one image process it to make (e.g. HDR) then restart with original image and make another completely different process (e.g. B & W). Sometimes I have many ideas for a photo and I like to see what I end up with. What would be the workflow for this?

I tried to disconnect all footage which lead into action and rendered them one by one to find out which footage is the problem... the 5K red footage makes the problem.what I need to do is to auto stabilize the 5k clip (which was due to a bug(?) not possible inside cfx, so I did it with the desktop tools) than brought the clip inside cfx, added a modular keyer node, than a timewarp node than went inside action... than back to the 1920x1080 timeline
the problem started suddendy. rendering worked fine (keying the 5k footage, timewarping.. axis... ) ... than I added another media into action, did some axis animations and the problem started (but if I disconnect the media I added, same rendering error..)
I have a question concerning Adobe Dynamic Links.
This is my problem : I work on After Effects. I have a composition that is rendered quite fast. (almost in real time...)
But when I open the linked comp in Premiere Pro, it lags as hell. Maybe 2x, 3x slower.
So I'd like to know why Adobe Premiere Pro is slow, while After Effects is fast ?
When sharpening images, I find it leaves halos around the image edges. How can avoid this effect when sharpening an image?

Also wondering what the new 2012 process brings to the image, aside from access to the new tools. Will I see a better (or just different) rendering of the image from older files?
I´m quite frustrated after discovering that some of my images look quite poor displayed by the slideshow module. My situation ist as follows:
LR 5.2 running on Mac OS X 10.8.5, 1:1 previews are rendered, preview quality is set to high, and I´m using a sample image showing a dark cloudy sky with some fine gradients; my slideshow preset doesn´t use any borders as I read this often causes quality issues.
When I´m in the Develop module, there is no problem at all, even in fullscreen display mode on my 1920x1200 display the gradients are perfectly rendered.
In Library module, when displaying fullscreen, quality is okay, but I can see some slight difference compared to the Develop module - which I understand after reading that in Develop the output is based on the actual raw data, and in all the other modules on rendered previews.
Now, when in Slideshow module, the image quality is significantly lower than in Library and I see some quite obvious banding in the gradients. I don´t have problems with blocking artifacts but the banding/posterization is considerably worse compared to a JPEG export with a quality setting of, for example, 75.
I can´t imagine LR´s slideshow tool would be working with a lower color depth than the 8 bit as in standard JPEGs, right? Did I miss any of LR´s parameters that influence the image quality of Lightroom slideshows or of the previews used therefore? Otherwise do you have some other explanations or hints for me in order to get this fixed? We do everything to capture our images in the best possible quality so we should also be able to present them properly after all...
I test at the moment Videostudio X3 and made a small test project. If i produce a AVCHD project i don't have a preview by rendering this project and i can't find a option to enable this ?

My LR 5 is as slow as a snail generating those previews.
Importing my RAWs form the EOS 6D (saved on a 95MB/s 32 BG SanDisk Extreme Pro) it renders only the 12 or 24 displayed previews and leaves out the rest (the next only when I'm scrolling down). For 12 images LR5 needs 8-10 seconds. LR4.4 does the same process for all 150 RAWs in 1-2 seconds.
It doesn't matter if I want to import to my workstation (Dell Precision T1650, 8core Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2, 16GB RAM, 64bit) via USB 3.0 (Reader & Port) or to my laptop (Dell Latitude E6400). So it must be LR, not my hardware.
Are there known issues with the Canon-RAW format? I just updated EOS firmware to 1.1.3, but the renderspeed stays the same. For 1 image 3-4 seconds single...
I am using Autocad 2011, when I do a render nothing appears in the Render window. I have material applied to the solids, but the window remains black.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noted after importing my images from my disk f(to Lr5) that some floral images were missing.Luckily they were on my backup disk so i moved these floral images from my backup disk to the proper floral folder in my int. disk f. Now how do i import these new images that are located in their particular floral folder which are indeed there.Also how do you set up these new files to do a preview setup. did try to import these new images,but lightroom would not let me do it because it grayed out the images telling me that we noted some duplicate images here. Yes, i did see a few dups of these images in the floral file. If i deleted these dups under its proper folder in disk f shouldn't lr5 let me continue the import?

sometimes rendering the RAM-Preview takes some time. while waiting I would like at least to read some articles on the internet. But as soon as I click into an other windows, AE stops rendering.
is there a special setting / workaround to avoid this (user-unfriendly behavior) ?
When I first load photos into lightroom I get a quick preview than looks like a JPEG? A second later after the image has time to load the color will change. I'm guessing that I'm seeing a JPEG preview then I'm getting what the RAW image looks like? If that is the case, is there anyway to get that preview color back without exporting as a JPEG?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tweaked an image in Develop and printed some 5x7s until I got it right and then went to 13x19 (first time ever using that size with my R3000). The print preview and the print were way too red. I went back to a 5x7 and it was way red as well in print preview, so I didn't print. I replaced a light magenta cart that I think ran out during the 13x19 print, and then some others that were low, and did a nozzle check and that was okay. I have spent hours looking around all of the settings (sRGB) and can find nothing that would explain what changed between my last good 5x7 print and the red 13x19. I went back to earlier versions and had the same problem. Monitor is due for recalibration, but that probably has nothing to do with it since it changed so suddenly.

I'm using Lightroom 5.0 on Windows 7 64 bits and noticed two new bugs or problems that didn't occur before, on the import dialog: when it opens should go to the last used import preset, like in the previous versions of Lightroom. Instead it goes to none. Also the images are not visible: I allways have to hover my mouse over the thumbnails or even I'll have to click on a thumbnail to make the image (preview) appear..

While reviewing as it imports initially each image looks great but a few seconds after it loads onto the screen it seems like LR applies a bit of extra brightness and lessens the contrast and I lose a load of detail that was there originally. I've not touched the import settings and no filters are being applied by myself on import.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI keep getting errors when importing Quicktime files (no matter what the codec is) and when exporting/rendering, (see attached screenshot for error on importing).
Error during rendering (after 10-15 seconds) is:
After Effects error: Rendering error while writing file "xxx". An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)
The only solution I found it's to close and restart AE CC. Yesterday I also got a couple of crashes when rendering.
CS6 was working perfectly, error began to appear when I started working on CC.
I have Apple pro apps installed, quicktime is updated. I mainly export in lossless, photo-jpeg or png sequence.
Recently I reorganized my system so that my image files were on a different drive that I had previously been using a backup drive, so no additional file copying was involved. When I ran Lr it did not find any images, as expected, at the original location and I told it where to find them by pointing it to the new parent image folder. That worked fine but then it seemed as if all of the previews had to be rebuilt on the fly by Lr as I went to each folder. Could it be that the previews in the preview cache are location specific to drive/volume level rather than just folder level ? Or is there a way to aim that ole preview cache at the new image locations ?
Likewise, would this apply to the ACR cache too ? i.e. if I point Lr at the same images in the same folder names on a different drive, will the ACR cache data still be relevant or should I just scrap it and start again ?
I told Lr to rebuild previews for many of my images and it did so overnight, but now the preview cache is about 30GB instead of about 12GB. It's possible that I picked up previews of images that were previously not in the cache, but would the new cache still contain previews of the now non-existant images at the old locations ?
I have previously reverted to system backups in which the whole drive volume had previously been been copied intact. Lr always worked fine in those situations. Is my present problem because I shifted the images folder relative to the drive volume where Lr is running ?
I'm using Lr 3.6 on a 2011 MacBook Pro with Mac OSX 10.6.8.
In develop mode in LR 4.4 I get a small line through the middle of the image preview box in the navigation panel.
Why and how I might get rid of it? I used to get it in 4.3 and 4.1 too.
