I've just exported as catalog 2 images from an older catalog ( process version 2010 into LR5. there was no way to automatically convert them to 2012 process.I had to turn on the calibration panel in Develop mode and then set it to 2012 and then copy the 2012 calibration to the other image.
Â
As a check, I checked this by exporting 1 image that was process version 2010 into LR5 and it automatically made it 2013,
Â
Then I checked it again, imported a catalog from LR 4.3 which had only process version 2010 images in. The import upgraded and disgarded the temp library used in the upgrade process, and again, there was no option to automatically convert the images to PV2013.

Importing ceases during the rendering preview process at image 2 of set. Same if using SD or Flash Cards, small or large import. No problems using Bridge so reader is operational.
In upgrading to LR4 I wish to keep my process 2010 photos as process 2010. There is no need to redo them because the update pretty much forces you to start again with most processed photos. Â My problem is that I now find that LR4 greys out the detail and color sliders for Luminance and color noise reductionas if they are process 2003 photos. That is, I do not have access to the detail and color for the noise reduction section. Â I can only assume this is a bug or that Adobe have changed the Noise reduction engine.
I want to take one image process it to make (e.g. HDR) then restart with original image and make another completely different process (e.g. B & W). Sometimes I have many ideas for a photo and I like to see what I end up with. What would be the workflow for this?
I'm experiencing a strange behavior when i import a DXF with a plugin for AutoCAD 2012, but only when i'm on Win7 64bits.
The plugin normally (in WinXP) would load the .dxf file, then if it has a reference for an ortophoto picture, it places the picture on the right place and "visible" (you'll get what i mean by this later).
On the other hand, on win7 64bits when i import the dxf file using the plugin, it only shows the frame of the picture, but no picture inside!
cadgis_1
But, if i close the file i just opened and open the .dxf using Autocad "default" open, on the layout the picture is showing just like it was supposed to...
Autocad_layout
So, now i've opened the .dxf using Autocad, let's try again to open it using the plugin and.... voilá! The picture is displayed, bright and shinny! A miracle i must say!
cadgis_2
And if i open it again using the "default" open from Autocad, not only it displays the picture on Layout but also on the Model!
Autocad_Model
I'll attach the dxf with the external .tiff file.

I wasn't able to upload the picture, so i've placed in a zip file and attached it to the post.
When I change to process 2012 on an image that has been worked in 2010 I'm seeing a big change in the image, much brighter, less contrast. Any way to closely preserve the old look while updating the process? Â Also wondering what the new 2012 process brings to the image, aside from access to the new tools. Will I see a better (or just different) rendering of the image from older files?
Where can I find some info on the process of importing Alexa material to Smoke? Is it as slow as RED material? I need to Color Correct 10 min of 2k material from that camera.

I'm importing RAW files straight from a CF card reader into my network storage drive via LR5.3. While reviewing as it imports initially each image looks great but a few seconds after it loads onto the screen it seems like LR applies a bit of extra brightness and lessens the contrast and I lose a load of detail that was there originally. I've not touched the import settings and no filters are being applied by myself on import.
when I select the crop tool, my image disappears during the entire crop process. I can only see the image in the preview pane. Why is this happening? I am using the most current version of Lightroom, and I am on a PC.
A friend of mine has been happily using / importing Sony Nex 7 Raw images into Lightroom 4.2 / 4.3 for a long time when suddenly this happens.  Note the grey border all around the image.  This file was imported with: No develop presetNo metadata preset.Process 2012.Various std in the box profiles. Here is a screen paste of the file dimensions (also showing that it is a raw file and not cropped).   All Sony Nex raw files imported to a particular machine (Win 7, 64 bit) demonstrate this behaviour. So, in trying to trace the problem.  The crop tool was checked to make sure there was no crop applied. They grey border is not just a visual border. If you examine the jpg it is actually grey pixels consuming a large percentage of the native 6000x4000 Nex 7 resolution. The Reset button was pressed also,to make sure the raw file conversion was restored to basecamp.History reset.A raw image imported into the same machine / software from a Nikon D300 behaves perfectly.Previously imported Nex 7 Raw images are ok.When the images are imported into two other machines they imports perfectly.Scrapping the preference file makes no difference.Overlay mode was checked, an overlay image loaded and then overlay mode turned off… just to make sure this was NO overlay.Applying a crop and then removing a crop still leaves the grey border.Applying the crop reduces the image dimensions to approx.. 4946 x 3293.  Exporting an image to jpg (as shown) leaves image with grey border. This grey border can be cropped out, but it means the resolution will reduce.Exploring various scene modes / in camera crops / resolution settings on the camera does not seem to make any difference.Formatting the card in the camera, take a picture, import directly from card. 3 different cards used.  (No change). When using the Catelog on a different machine the grey border remains.Â
NB Camera set to RAW + jpeg. Jpeg's import without border.  So finally last night…
……. we uninstalled Lightroom 4.3 and re-installed into a different folder. (No change).
Before I got LR4 I developed a series of images (thousands) with Bridge and Photoshop. I've now decided to build a LR catalog of the series.  As I import I want to use the Image # option to rename files, making the whole mess of photos "cleaner" with unique names, etc. Of course I want ot import Raw's and the Tif/Psd images I made along the way. I notice the Image numbering process does NOT recognize the relationship between the raw and edited files. So files (img_123.nef and img_123.tif) become (img-01.nef and img-02.tif). I would prefer the tif file be named img-01.tif so the link between the two remains obvious.  Key to creation date & time? I realize this is a really specific issue, but if the point is to make the series tidier and more coherent it would be a useful feature.
I installed it and every time I try to make a picture use the 2012 item it forces me to use the old one. I have never seen such a useless go round the pole! Far as I see it does nothing. At least LR4 lets you use the thing. If this is what it does how do I uninstall?
Last week we started having an issue with one of the AutoCAD 2010 installs, When she would go to plot (to any plotter or PDF) the plot process would just hang up and continue to show (in the lower right corner) that it was working, sometimes it would actually print the page but it wouldn't format it right, This morning a second install started doing it too. I chacked and ran though the proceedure for ACAD.VLX virus and it still is doing this. After autocad sits there for a minute showing the plot process the addons reload. I have tried plotting with no addons loaded and I am still getting the same problem.
Machine software config: Windows 7 64 bit Autocad 2010 32bit loaded Microvellum 6.7 addon
I am having issues with my computer completely freezing while performing a File, Open process. I'm in drawing 1, I save it, then go to open drawing 2. Drawing 1 will save, the open file window pops up. With me so far? While navigating through the file directory tree, my computer freezes. I do not chose a file that freezes during opening. It is during the process of getting to the folder drawing 2 resides in, and then it freezes. This happens to me multiple times a day. Ctrl +Alt+Delete will not work. I have tried letting my computer sit, as you would with a program not responding, and it doesn't unfreeze. The only option I am left with is a hard reboot. The only other program I have running is my MS Outlook.
I have been back and forth with our IT person, and because he can't replicate the problem (after trying one file open), he can't figure it out, or doesn't want to.
I am running AutoCad 2012 with a Dell Precision T3500, 2.13ghz, intell xenon E5506 processor, and 4gb of RAM. After looking at the system requirements, and reading that 2012 needs a 3.0 or higher processor, could this be the route of my issue?
I did notice that zoom in or out in camera raw is slow , even in middle pc , i'm not talking about hi end pc but i did find it's amazing fast if use process 2003 or 2010. May i use like default the 2003 or 2010 ? How can i do it?
I need to be able to resize a large quantity of photos,( ie, change a 300 resolution, 1680x1200 pixel photo to a 72 resolution, 500x700 pixel photo?) I am using adobe photoshop CS2 on a PC, running windows XP.
How the PMS color palettes "simulate" on screen how the color will print on different substrates (glossy vs matte vs uncoated paper). That's great for comps, but if you convert it to CMYK to print it, and the values are representing a "simulated" color it won't look correct (by that I mean come close to matching the spot color). For example, the uncoated palette simulates the color by making them appear a bit washed out on screen - pretty good visual simulation. But it might do so by adding black and cyan to orange for example, etc. - effectively dulling the original color.
So if I convert that to CMYK within the new Pantone + color palette, and then send it to the printer - it won't appear as it did on screen, it will dull the end color even more because it's converted the color to the dull simulated version - what a disaster! It's only doing half the job - showing us what it should look like on screen. In order to be truly efficient for design professionals the CMYK conversion might remove black and cyan completely to effectively brighten the color in the final output on uncoated paper. I would prefer it just stick to the standard conversion, which Pantone did have as a standard palette option (PMS to process), and then I can adjust if I think it's necessary. Â Any corporate branding system will likely start with a PMS spot color palette for the identity. Then it will build into many different adaptations - full color brochures, large format banners and trade show graphics, website, advertising. So any corporate branding system will need to have PMS, CMYK and RGB versions of their main corporate color palette. There was a standard for these translations that was automatically consistent in the Adobe software and that is now all over the place, so it relies on individuals manually adapting the color mixes for final use - what a great way to screw things up.
I need to find out what process is employed to separate an image from its background. An image from one of the image services for example. I need for the actual image to be shed of the often white background in order to better work with an existing background on the graphic. It seems straight forward enough, I just have limited computer graphic chops.
Is there a 'workflow' process that should be followed when working with an image?s there a 'workflow' process that should be followed when working with an image? For example, when is the best time to sharpen an image/
We are unable to get image processor in Bridge to allow us to make raw image processing changes to our GF-2 images. Instead of opening in Camera Raw Processor, it just opens the images. How can we change this?
In my work I use a batch process to run an action that converts EPS files to TIFF files. I have been using this successfully in Photoshop 7 on a Win2000 PC for a number of years. The process is as follows...
Open EPS file Flatten Image Save Close
When I recorded the action I made sure that the resolution was set to 300dpi as we require the TIFF produced at the end to be that resolution.
I am now testing PSCS3 on a WinXP machine as we are upgrading all of our equipment. When I run the action as a batch process the TIFFs that are saved end up being 72dpi - They should be 300dpi. This worked in PS7 on the Win2000 machine and I am using exactly the same process in PSCS3 on the new WinXP machine, but something must be going wrong somewhere for the TIFFs to be saved at 72dpi instead of the required 300dpi. Any ideas?
I'm trying to create an Action that will resize images to a constant and absolute width (600px), and save as a JPEG with a filesize of less than 160kb. I've tried Image>Image size... and Save for web with only partial sucess. Image Size does not allow you to set the filesize as a parameter - you can only set the dimensions and resolution and hope that it comes out under 160kb. Save for Web does have an optimise feature, which does work for an individual image, but not for a batch. The optimisation is done by adjusting the quality of the jpeg, but when you save this as an action, it does not record this as "optimise the image for 160kb". Instead it saves just the quality % used when recording the action. Any other images processed by that action will just be saved at that %, regardless of their filesize. Is there a way to write the action so that Save for Web will dynamically optimise each image? I'm using CS3 Extended.
I have a folder with 300 sub folders with a high res image. (each image is in a folder, with it's part no's name)
Ive created a process to create low res images with a new file name prefix s_ and I have selcted "include all sub folders" in my source folder options.
The problem i have i select a destination folder and all the images are saved to the destination folder root. As opposed to the original location of each image. (its own sub folder)
I know how to batch process images to place a logo or watermark on an image. Normally the image is different every time and the exact same logo is placed on all the images.
In this case the image is exactly the same every time but i need it saved in a folder 100 times each with a different logo. So essentially a reverse of the normal process. Same image different logo's.
I love to draw, I would like to use my drawings on some iPhone game. I am wondering how I can process the drawings I scanned into a high definition image? I do my drawings in old fashion paper and pencil way, once The drawings were scanned, the resulting images look very rough, for example, the lines are showing the pencil marks, a straight line has a few bumps in the middle, and circles seem a bit off, is there a way in Gimp to do some fine tuning on the images?
I have about a hundred photos in high resolution that I want to reduce to (the same) small image size for a website. How can I do this several (or all) at a time, instead of individually editing each one, using my Photoshop Elements 11 or 12? I cannot find an action for this in the action menu. If not possible within Elements, is there anything "free," or do I have to get Creative Suite or the like?
I just installed LR 5 and want to process an HDR photo in CS 5. When I select CS 5 on the "Edit In" the HDR option is greyed out. If I try to just process a photo in CS 5 I get a message that "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.1 for full compatibility.  CS 5 says my version has no updates. LR 5 says there are no upgrades although I have seen some reference to LR 5.2.
I have a Nikon D7k which I have been shooting in RAW and converting using Adobe DNG converter 6.4 to process in Lightroom 2. (I have a G4 (PPC) Mac with OS 10.5.8. LR2 is the last version this Mac can run.) The converted files look rather poor and require substantial effort to achieve an acceptable result in LR. JPEGs look much better out-of-the-camera. I looked at some of the RAW files in Nikon ViewNX2 and they looked much, much better. Unfortunately, there is some sort of color space conflict with LR2 which I have been unable to resolve. Â Any way other than shooting in JPEG, which I am presently doing, until such time as I get a new computer which will run the latest versions of LR and PS?
