I need to be able to resize a large quantity of photos,( ie, change a 300 resolution, 1680x1200 pixel photo to a 72 resolution, 500x700 pixel photo?) I am using adobe photoshop CS2 on a PC, running windows XP.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to create an Action that will resize images to a constant and absolute width (600px), and save as a JPEG with a filesize of less than 160kb. I've tried Image>Image size... and Save for web with only partial sucess. Image Size does not allow you to set the filesize as a parameter - you can only set the dimensions and resolution and hope that it comes out under 160kb. Save for Web does have an optimise feature, which does work for an individual image, but not for a batch. The optimisation is done by adjusting the quality of the jpeg, but when you save this as an action, it does not record this as "optimise the image for 160kb". Instead it saves just the quality % used when recording the action. Any other images processed by that action will just be saved at that %, regardless of their filesize. Is there a way to write the action so that Save for Web will dynamically optimise each image? I'm using CS3 Extended.

Here is the process I am using:

Duplicate the layer and then hide it. Resize the canvas (Image > Canvas Size) to 250px x 250 px. Un-hide the layer and then resize the image (Image > Image Size). When I go into Image>Image Size it says that the image is already 250px x 250px. However if I try to transform the scale the image is the original size and not 250px x 250px

The reason for needing this is I resize image size (in bulk) and the canvas size using the batch process (file>automate>batch) and actions.  I loaded the actions file I used in previous versions, but that did not work correctly. I then went in to do this manually and got the same results.
I am having trouble with Image/Resize/Image Size in PSE7. In the past I had a document size of 4x6. When I wanted to reduce the # of pixels, I just entered new #s and the document size remained the same. A couple days ago I changed both the document size and canvas size. I cannot get my old settings back. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the program, I also have PSE11 on a trial basis and it also only sees the changed settings. I've tried changing Scale Styles, Constrain Proportions & Resample Image, in addition to changing the Canvas Size but cannot get it to work like it did before I changed the settings.

My college said it is hard to check if an image looks different because of image resizing or because of quality loss or because of both. He said I have to create some log files to trace the result. It is a little too much work for me.

Open EPS file
Flatten Image
Save
Close
When I recorded the action I made sure that the resolution was set to 300dpi as we require the TIFF produced at the end to be that resolution.
I am now testing PSCS3 on a WinXP machine as we are upgrading all of our equipment. When I run the action as a batch process the TIFFs that are saved end up being 72dpi - They should be 300dpi. This worked in PS7 on the Win2000 machine and I am using exactly the same process in PSCS3 on the new WinXP machine, but something must be going wrong somewhere for the TIFFs to be saved at 72dpi instead of the required 300dpi. Any ideas?
I have a folder with 300 sub folders with a high res image. (each image is in a folder, with it's part no's name)
Ive created a process to create low res images with a new file name prefix s_ and I have selcted "include all sub folders" in my source folder options.
The problem i have i select a destination folder and all the images are saved to the destination folder root. As opposed to the original location of each image. (its own sub folder)
I know how to batch process images to place a logo or watermark on an image. Normally the image is different every time and the exact same logo is placed on all the images.
In this case the image is exactly the same every time but i need it saved in a folder 100 times each with a different logo. So essentially a reverse of the normal process. Same image different logo's.
I have about a hundred photos in high resolution that I want to reduce to (the same) small image size for a website. How can I do this several (or all) at a time, instead of individually editing each one, using my Photoshop Elements 11 or 12? I cannot find an action for this in the action menu. If not possible within Elements, is there anything "free," or do I have to get Creative Suite or the like?

If you have an image and you duplicate the layer, then with the bottom layer set its size (by free transform) to 99% (width and height), then set the top layers opacity to 50%, the image should be evenly blurred but it's not. It is in focus in the middle and blurred around the edges.

- If I wish to make a 40" x 30" print, what is the correct way to re-size the image in PhotoShop (CS6)? Out of my camera, the images are 4592 x 3448 px, so do I simply punch in 40" x 30" in the "Image Size" menu, and then select "Bicubic Smoother (for enlargement)"? (see attached image). Or should I just re-size the image in the RIP software?
- Some of the images were shot in Raw, but some as JPG. For the ones that were shot Raw, should I also save them as JPGs before printing, or is TIF better?
I'm making some images for my blog about 900 px for my blog. Still for facebook I think 300 on long size would be about right. Is there a quick way to just keystroke the image or something to get that quickly done? Someone showed me a trick using automator on the Mac but I forgot it.
View 11 Replies View RelatedIf you zoom the image using shortcuts (ctrl/cmd+ and ctrl/cmd-, the rulers resize with the image. But if you use scrubby zooming they stay with the window and it's only by hitting ctrl/cmd-R twice that they reset correctly.
