I need to do for a WEB many PNG icons (aprox. 70x70 pixels e/a). There will be like 20 of them loaded in the WEB at the same time. which kind of compression I should pick when I save as a PNG: "None/Fast" or "Smallest/Slow", and "Interlaced" or notMy main concern is that the WEB page should load them the fastest possible.Â

I rcently installed PS CS on my Dell Inspiron 8500 notebook, a P4 2.6GHz, 1GB RAM, 64Mb GeForce 4 4200 (15.4" WUXGA+ 1680x1050), Hitachi 60GB 7,200rpm disk, DVD+RW and it so unbelievably slow. I cannot even do a simple Elliptical Marquee without having to wait ages (a lot of disk I/O activity). The settings of CS are at default. It's completely put me off this software-am I missing something here?

Ive been using 3DS Max for about 3 hours now, and seem to be picking up on it very quickly (Props to everyone involved for user friendliness). Im just puzzled about one thing. In my perspective viewport, panning and zooming happen realy fast, zooming close is impossible, as it zooms through and past the object with one scroll-notch. All zooming in other viewports are just fine, its only perspective that I'm having an issue with.

Photoshop and system optimization
I am curious if anyone here knows how to really optimize the performance of photoshop CS. I am not getting very good performance, but I don’t know what is wrong. I am a pretty savvy user, so I can set settings and understand whatever I need to, I am just ignorant right now of what photoshop needs to really run at it’s best.
My system and setup is such:
-2.8 p4 hyperthreading
-2 gigs 400mhz pc3200 ram
-serial ATA C: drive, 80 gig
-serial ATA D: drive, 80 gig
-120 gig IDE partitioned, S: (10 gig scratch disk) and T: (110 gig storage)
-128meg Geforce 4 ti…
That is the basic setup of my performance parts. Everything is defragged and the computer runs fine.
My windows settings are:
-Processor Scheduling set to Programs
-Memory Usage set to System Cache
-one page file, set to the C: drive, 2000-3000 MB
My photoshop settings are:
-First Scratch is set to the S: drive (10 gig partition)
-Second scratch is set to the D: drive
-Cache Levels are at 8
-Available RAM is 86% = 1528mb
That is the basic setup.
Here is my problem – photoshop runs pretty clunky For instance, I just opened up a 2.17 meg image, first image of the day to be opened. Immediately my scratch indicator in the status bar reads “Scr: 1.91G/1.44G” and the actual file on the S: drive is 1.93 gigabytes. Also, the photoshop efficiency is at 24%. This is all without having done ANYTHING in photoshop so far. I opened the program, opened a 2 meg file, and those are the results I get.
It typically just gets worse from there. I’ll get major slowdowns, my efficiency will drop to 4 or 3%, the Scratch indicator will sometimes read “Scr: 2.31G/1.44G” or worse. Sometimes photoshop locks up for about 20 seconds or more, the title bars all go white like it’s not responding, and then comes back.
So I am at a loss. I have the hard drives, ram, and CPU for photoshop CS to run fast, right? I don’t see what it isn’t, unless I have something totally set to reduce performance in my swap file or scratches or something.

I am working on six very similar map documents. They all are moderately complex with layering, drop shadows, and some placed raster files. I have linked rather than embedded the big tif raster files.
Â
The confusing thing is that some of the illustrator files save in 2 seconds, and some of the files save in 2 minutes.I have compared all the settings, and I don't see what I'm doing different on the ones that take a long time to save. All big placed files are linked, not embedded.
Â
The only clue showing a difference is that the files that are taking a long time to save are about 200mb in size. The files that are saving quickly are about 1mb in size.

I was wondering if there are some Photoshop filters which are very slow in processing images.
For example images of 0.2GB, 0.5GB, or even 1GB can be processed in few seconds with all filters? Or there are some filters requiring a longer time, something like minutes?

Recently was forced to switch back to Win 7 from OSX after many years. I have the lastest PS CC on the Win 7 machine with 8 gb of RAM installed and an i5 processor. I haven't used PS on Windows since CS5 maybe CS4.
Â
Admittedly this is not the fastest or best equipped computer in the world but then I am only doing web design at 72 dpi. I do use allot of layers though but that is nothing new.
Â
Whenever I click to zoom in or out the disc starts thrashing and there is a long delay resulting in nothing happening. I have to click to zoom a second or even third time before I can get it to work.
Â
As an example I will use a file that has allot of layers but is 14.1 mb on disc it is 1.3 gb when open. On a Macbook Pro 2011 with 4 gb of RAM I have no issues with zooming with open GL on or off. The Win 7 machine, same file, has significant zooming issues.
Â
I have only one disc in both machines. The Win 7 machine has Mcaffee anti-virus on it but no disc encription. The mac does not have anti-virus installed. I am quite willing to either increase the RAM in the Win 7 machine or get another HD to use as the scratch disc but I don't want to push my boss to make a purchase unless I am sure it will solve the issue and I am not convinced it will.
Â
Would buying hardware solve the issue or would adjusting the preferences somehow solve it. My preferences for performance on both machines are the standard settings PS ships with.

I am experiencing a problem where changing the zoom level in Photoshop CS3 causes scrolling around the window to become extremely slow and jerky.
A typical example would be I open a photo and zoom in. At this point if I drag a selection box it behaves normally. If I then use the scrollbars or the hand tool to scroll to another area of the photo and then try to drag a selection box, the cursor and box outline move very slowly and are so jerky that it's impossible to accurately select anything. We have an issue where one of our users are struggling with very poor performance during the pre-render stage.
This is especially clear during the following stages
Press "Render" button (takes around 20 second before anything happens)
Pre-Processing scene (takes around 20 second to complete)
Translation Scene & Translation Object (takes around 7 minutes to complete)
This is runned on a HP Z800 workstation with pretty hefty specifications, and a Nvidia GTX 580 graphic card. What is weird is that the user also has another machine with a bit lesser specs and a GTX 295 graphics card that finishines these same tasks using the same files around 6 times faster.
The machine shows no sign of a general performance issue, and when it eventually reaches the rendering stage it performs as expected.
Using 3DS Max 2012 SP1 and Win7 64bit on both machines

Converting my apps from .NET 35 to .NET 40 was not too painful except for the debugging speed! Why is AutoCAD 2013 so slow....
Should I be building my apps on a 32bit box and then do the final build on a 64bit box?

So just a few questions here, I have a process where I go through my RAW D800 photos and do general touch-ups in camera, but have been wanting to do skin touch-ups in photoshop. My problem lies in the photo sizes (45mb per RAW photo to begin with). Is there any sort of way to make a workflow that would allow me to retain the raw photos and seperate photoshop files in a convenient manner?
I'm simply looking to avoid having 2GB folder for just a few images, and wondering if there's maybe some appropriate file formats for that.

The AutoCAD doesn’t show the “intersect osnap” at certain zoom!
The “intersection osnap” between a “hatched rectangle” and a “DASHDOT2” line appears and disappears depending on the amount of zoom!
As I zoom out the “intersection osnap” appears but when I zoom in, it disappears
Why the "intersection Osnap" should disappear as I zoom in?

I've downloaded the trial version of Lightroom 4.1 to give a try with my raw files.
Â
First LR is very slow at generating the preview (takes about 30 sec for some files), the only filter applied at import is "Lens correction".
When Applying corrections, it takes seveal seconds to see it on the preview and there is also a lot of lag.
Â
Maybe is a limitation of the trial ? My RAW files are CR2 from a DSLR Canon EOS 60D (18 Mpix): 5184x3456.
Â
I try LR on the following setup:
Â
OS: Windows 7 SP1 32bit
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
RAM: 2 GB
HD system: 7200 RPM 300 GB
Screen resolution: 1920x1080

I have a question concerning Adobe Dynamic Links.
Â
This is my problem : I work on After Effects. I have a composition that is rendered quite fast. (almost in real time...)
Â
But when I open the linked comp in Premiere Pro, it lags as hell. Maybe 2x, 3x slower.
Â
So I'd like to know why Adobe Premiere Pro is slow, while After Effects is fast ?

I am using an old computer and Autocad LT 2014. I was using Windows XP and Autocad was working fine and zooms were instant.
I installed Windows 7 and installed Autocad LT 2014 64 bit and now all is fine except the zooms - zooms are slow now. I only have 4 gigs of ram.

I need to make a 30 second long zoom in Z space and I'm using a 3D camera for that. I've separated the dimension on the positioning of the camera so I could use only the 'Z position' to make the zoom.
Â
I'm starting the Z positioning from 0 until -700000Â (I know, It's kinda far!) But I've noticed that my images (which I've placed in 3D space so they pass the camera in Z space)Â are getting slower and slower because of the far zoom I quess?
How closer I get to the number -700000 how slower the camera movement is going.

We've upgraded to 2012 and have noticed a problem when fast clicking on the mouse when using commands.
For example when using the erase command I would usually type E and then quickly right click and left click. However in 2012 it brings up random command instead of erase i.e. sheetset, publish, ucs etc..Bringing up the text window afterwards it shows
Command: e
ERASE
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: *Cancel*
0 found
Select objects: *Cancel*
Command: _PointCloudIndex
The right click and left click are only processed once. This happens on all commands typed on the command line not just eraseÂ

i've two problems with Gimp 280
-first, the new brushes flow slower than before- already at 3000-1700 pixels, 300 dpi. Which are modest measures when you paint seriously. I've some delay pulling a sign with most of my brushes. (Btw, i checked with care my brush dynamics). Some hints of what I should set to get a faster/natural flow ?
-second, the zoom wheel of my wacom tablet is broken with the update to xQuartz 271. 'Never had this problem before-damn, zooming ist important. I worked out some workaround using modifier keys (on the tablet), but its never ever so precise as with the wheel.

Autocad 2008 has been running smoothly for a long time. This morning on trying to use the programme, working in model space has become almost impossible as the pan and zoom functions have become very slow and move in short distances before a pause and then moves again. I've tried restoring my pc to a previous restore point as I had a windows update last night, but it won't restore. If I access the model through a viewport the pan and zoom functions are normal.

I've taken a shot of a building. I'm setting up a scene that has a realistic camera lens distance and focal length taken from measurements at the architectural location. I'm creating a mesh to go over that image and it has to line up with the photo perfectly.
There are small details on the building that I need to extrude but even in full frame view on my 30" monitor I can't get close enough. If I change to a perspective or front view to work zoomed in the mesh is off when I go back to my camera view as the perspective distortion, small as it is, is different than a front or perspective view.
Is there a away to zoom in on a section of a camera view so that I can keep working on my mesh using the camera's perspective and view distortion?

How to zoom in and out via the API.
I can access the camera and eye etc. but cannot find the property related to zoom. I initially thought it was to do with the position of the eye but when I use the "Zoom" by dragging the mouse button I see that the eye position doesn't change.
I would like to connect the zoom to a slide bar and zoom in and out using that.
