Illustrator :: CS6 - Converting PMS To Process For Files To Be Printed 4 Color Process

Oct 4, 2012

How the PMS color palettes "simulate" on screen how the color will print on different substrates (glossy vs matte vs uncoated paper). That's great for comps, but if you convert it to CMYK to print it, and the values are representing a "simulated" color it won't look correct (by that I mean come close to matching the spot color). For example, the uncoated palette simulates the color by making them appear a bit washed out on screen - pretty good visual simulation. But it might do so by adding black and cyan to orange for example, etc. - effectively dulling the original color.

So if I convert that to CMYK within the new Pantone + color palette, and then send it to the printer - it won't appear as it did on screen, it will dull the end color even more because it's converted the color to the dull simulated version - what a disaster! It's only doing half the job - showing us what it should look like on screen. In order to be truly efficient for design professionals the CMYK conversion might remove black and cyan completely to effectively brighten the color in the final output on uncoated paper. I would prefer it just stick to the standard conversion, which Pantone did have as a standard palette option (PMS to process), and then I can adjust if I think it's necessary.

Any corporate branding system will likely start with a PMS spot color palette for the identity. Then it will build into many different adaptations - full color brochures, large format banners and trade show graphics, website, advertising. So any corporate branding system will need to have PMS, CMYK and RGB versions of their main corporate color palette. There was a standard for these translations that was automatically consistent in the Adobe software and that is now all over the place, so it relies on individuals manually adapting the color mixes for final use - what a great way to screw things up.

Illustrator :: Converting Spot To Process - CMYK Values

Jul 2, 2012

When I use a Pantone color in CS5 and then convert to process, I get certain values for CMYK. However, when I use that same Pantone color in CS6 and convert to process, I get different values for CMYK.

For example, Pantone 2685C converted to process in the both applications yields:

(CS5)  C-96, M-100, Y-0, K-10
(CS6)  C-90.73, M-100, Y-30.6, K-16.54

Photoshop :: Any Way To Batch Process Color Corrected RAW Files To TIFF Files

Nov 11, 2013

I got over 160 color corrected RAW files from my photographer when I thought I was getting TIf or PSD files. I need to put them into an in design doc to send out for printing. Is there a way to convert all of these in one fell swoop without messing up the work that has already been done?

I didn't allow in my timing to save each one individually since i didn't know I was going to need to do this. I am really unfamiliar with batch processing, so how to best go about this, or if I even can. I am working in Photoshop CS6. version 13.06 x 64.

Photoshop :: CS6 / Batch Process CR2 Raw Files To TIFF Without Losing Color Adjustments?

Nov 12, 2013

Working in BRidge and Photoshop CS6:I have 160 color adjusted hi-res CR2 RAW files from my photographer, thought I was getting tifs. I need tifs for my INdesign file. I tried using the photoshop image proecessor through brige by selecting all my images and then saving as TIFFs but I am losing all my color correcting? Is there a way to save these out as tiffs as a group and not one at a time? I also might have lost my color correcting when I copies them all to one folder as well...not sure what is happening except now my great product shots look like crap.

Photoshop :: Batch Process Color Replacement?

Jan 20, 2008

I am making sets of wedding stationary for a photography studio. Each set contains an invitation, dinner card, place card etc.

Each set has a dominant color throughout the series.

What I want to do is offer each set in a variety of colors but going through each image, replacing the color in each layer with the new color for each image in the set would take forever.

Is there a way to "Batch process" this where I can replace a color in each image with a new color. I think I may have to make a separate action for each new color I want to use but that is still better than nothing.

Also, I need to keep the new images in layers as the studio wants the ability to go in and make layer changes if necessary.

Photoshop :: Script Alert - (could Not Process Files)?

Sep 24, 2012

I'm a seasoned Photoshop/Bridge CS5 user who recently upgraded to CS6.  I'm operating on windows 7 64 bit. In Bridge I just ran my first Image Processor batch, trying to convert a set of RAW .NEF files to .PSD files with a basic editing action I created applied to them.  Photoshop CS6 opens the files from Bridge and applies the actions,

but then I get the "Script alert" error message "Sorry I could not process the following files" and a list of all of the files in the batch I was trying to run the script on.  The files all remain open and are saved on my hard drive in a folder created by the Image Processor script, but do not close unless I manually close them.  I never had this problem in CS5 where the image processor would apply the desired actions to the batch of photos one at a time, then save and close.

My camera out put is in JPEG I have no choice. While I can process jpeg with no problems in CS5 is there a better way to do this? would I be better off converting the JPEG to either tiff or psd and then process the file and then reconvert back to jpeg as the final product. I have heard so much about "lossy"(jpeg) vs "non Lossy" (tiff and psd) which are the ones I want to use?

Photoshop Elements :: Process Multiple Files

Jan 10, 2013

I have finished scanning a number of old family photos and have used Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 (PSE9) to “tag” and add “captions” to each photo. The photos vary in size and are saved in tif format. All of the work I have done so far was using the Organizer in PSE9.

When using the slideshow function of PSE9, I can view the photos and see the caption written over the bottom of the photos. Using other software to view the photos does not show the captions.

I have gone to the Edit screen of PSE9 and under File there is Process Multiple Files. Clicking that I have selected the options in the Labels section to add a caption, checked description, default font, 75 Opacity, default color. Having processed the multiple files, I thought when opening the processed photos I would see the caption I entered in the Organizer along the bottom of the photos. However, the caption does not appear when I view the photos. Am I misunderstanding something here? Would the captions only appear if I print the photo?

Photoshop :: PSD Files Hang When Opening After Quickstep Process?

Jan 30, 2013

We have a customer using Photoshop CS6 he opens an image and performs the Quickstep process (the process where it scans the original image and rips out all of the different colours used to create the image) and then saves the image as both a PSD and EPS. If he then tries to open the newly saved PSD file the image hangs and gradually begins to open but then just locks up Photoshop to the point you have to end task to get out of it. If the EPS file is opened it opens absolutely fine. all other tasks and processes carried out in Photoshop are absolutely fine.

Photoshop Elements :: Can't Process Multiple Files On One Of Three Catalogs

Nov 11, 2012

After getting straightened out about getting my catalogs in order, which I've done, I've run into another problem. I have three catalogs one for People, one for Things and one I call Workplace where I try out things that are new to me so I don't mess up my main catalogs.

I've straightened out the files in my Things catalog. I have one catagory that contains images of autograph book pages from the late 1800s. Those scans were done in JPEG some time ago. I've tried using multiple processing to change these 55 images to psd in the original file to be consistent with the rest of the catalog. Each time the process fails.

In order to see what the problem might be I have copied the catagory file into both of my other catalogs and have been able to process the catagory file back into itself as psd. I have also created another small file in the Things catalog and tried to convert it and had the same result. The warning info box that appears when copying back into the same file states that the original files will be overwritten. The psd files do not overwrite the jpg files. They are added to the original file. That may be the way it is intended to be. That's not a real problem.

The real question is why can't I process multiple files in the original catalog. I have looked at the error file and, although I don't know much about most of it, I found the following in the first part of the file.

crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION"

I run XP SP3 and PSE 8. I am a single user with administrator rights. I find no mention of a  permission filter in the PSE 8 program.

AutoCAD .NET :: Process Multiple Drawing Files With Interface Hidden?

Apr 19, 2013

I am trying to create a C# program to do batch Title Block attribute updates on selected AutoCAD drawings.

What I would like to do is keep the AutoCAD interface hidden, and just display my custom form which would allow the user to select the drawings that they wish to process.

And then the custom program would load each drawing behind the scenes and update the Title Block attributes, but the AutoCAD interface would remain hidden.

Is something like this possible with AutoCAD 2010?  Are there any examples doing something like this (showing a custom form at startup, etc.)?

PS We do have newer versions of AutoCAD available if needed.  Our engineers use AutoCAD 2010, but we could use a newer version for this standalone tool which would only be used by 1 or 2 people.
